I can't believe I didn't review Panevino earlier because they have an awesome happy hour! I love to bring a friend here for catch up sessions since you can have a satisfying meal for under $12. Their pasta dishes are just the right size to satisfy your hunger. Out of all the pasta dishes on their happy hour menu I like their penne pesto and rigatoni bolognaise, although you really can't go wrong with any of them.
The bruschetta is a good entree to split and they do load up on the tomato and basil topping. Oh and how can you forget about ordering a glass of wine? You can't beat a $4 glass of wine for happy hour.
As for dessert, I have only tried their panna cotta and I thought it was alright. Not my favorite dessert at Panevino though. However, they do serve a delicious affogato which is how I like to end my meals here when I have room for dessert.Listed in: The Hour of Happy

I think this place deserves 4 Stars, but I am slightly disgruntled with how they added an additional 18% gratuity for a party of 3 without notice when we used a LivingSocial deal (3 course meal + a bottle of wine)
Other than that, the food was good, no complaints there. The bread was really good- it's an herbed focaccio with balsalmic & oilve oil.
Appetizers: The deal came with 2 salads so we got one of each, they are simple salads so it would be difficult to screw it up.
Ceasar Salad- This was the preferred one.
Mixed Green Salad- The balsalmic dressing was okay, but some of the mixed greens made it slightly bitter.
Entrees:
Ciopinno- My other two friends got this and it was good, they do give quite a number of mussels and calamari, but I think their red sauce was a bit too tangy-like its out of the can.
Penne Norcina- The cream sauce wasn't too heavy, the pasta was cooked al dente, and the sausage/pea combo was delicious. I enjoyed my dish thoroughly.
Dessert:
Tiramisu- This was a good tiramisu, but I preferred the affogato.
Affogato- This was the tables favorite dessert. I love vanilla ice cream and espresso.
We got a bottle of the sanviognese, which was good.
Overall, this place was pretty good. I would have given it 4 stars had it not been for the slight issues at the end. The ambiance is nice, the entire wall can open up and there will be air flowing through the restaurant. The decor is nice and kind of trendy. I think if we had not had the deal, it would be more worthwhile to go during happy hour.

Great place to eat with friends and if you're attached then it could be a nice romantic place as well. On a sunny day, they open up their store-front and it's all of a sudden a cafe-like ristorante!
I ate here with my friend and have to highly recommend the happy hour which is served from 3-6pm. I ordered: Guazzetto Di Cozze E Vongole. This is fancy Italian for "a combination of fresh mussels and clams sautéed in a spicy tomato and garlic sauce, served with grilled ciabatta bread."
I'll be honest with you, before ordering this I wondered how spicy it would be and was surprised to find out it's not spicy in the least. I wasn't disappointed though, It was very flavorful. I'd suggest ordering extra ciabatta bread because the broth is delicious and you'll really want to enjoy as much of it as you can by sopping it up with those slices. It's a decent amount of seafood, however..sometimes you may get an empty shell or two. Also the bread sticks are underwhelming. It's bread...with herbs baked in to it, Meh...that's slightly heartbreaking isn't it? Sigh. Moving on with the rest of this review though.... The olive oil and balsamic vinegar that you dip the bread sticks into is good quality...then again it's pretty hard to mess that flavor combination up.
The service is very good. The charming waiter was very engaging and helpful when I asked him to help me choose when I couldn't decide.
One item on the happy hour that I wasn't too fond of was the Scampi al Limone. It was a spring mix salad with 4 marinated shrimp, served with ciabatta bread and a lemony dressing or sauce. It's not that it wasn't good. It was decent, but when served, a mere 4 shrimp were the only shrimp to be seen and it cost $6 or so!
The happy hour also made no mention that it came with the spring salad. I was pretty disappointed with that. I guess I figured it I'd only see a small plate of shrimp with the sauce.
Also on the happy hour menu, "Cioppino" is listed and it's basically the same thing as the Guazzato Di Cozze.., except it's few dollars cheaper. Depending on how much you want to eat, you might want to just go with the happy hour portion. Be sure to confirm the serving plate size before hand though.
I've had some of the pastas during happy hour in the past and although my socks weren't simply wowed off my feet, I was happy to see that the portion was priced fairly. Perhaps I just am not a big fan of penne pasta...that's probably it. To each his own!
I do recommend eating here and trying out other items on the menu. I plan to go back to do the same. -

There's a lot of nice things to say about this place, namely a charming host, efficient staff and pleasing decor. Unfortunately, none of things can make up for the 2 star food, served at prices that should suggest better.
We shared two dishes and an appetizer. To be fair, the beet salad with arugula and almond slices was pretty great. I would go here and just eat that. The entrees and bread (homemade) were roundly disappointing. Bread was in-house mushy flavor less bread sticks served with dilute olive oil. My homemade tortellini with Bolognese sauce was *way* too salty and tasted to both of us like chef boy-ardee (which my date confirmed and actually liked ironically). Their fresh tagliatelle with shrimp and mushrooms was better than mine but still uninspiring. The shrimp were a little dry too.
Having just eaten at Cuoco the day before (not a place that's exceptionally awesome but is pretty good), this place fell far short. And at $15-19 for a pasta dish, I expected far better. Your mileage may vary. Enjoy! -

Stopped in on a drizzling Thursday evening for a quick bite and a glass of vino. Plopped down at the bar with a friend, got watered, wined, fed, and boozed all within an easy hour for a very fair price.
Space is small and sparse. Has fully openable front facade that gets great afternoon sun. Restroom was excellent.
Barbera has a great QPR. Happily quaffed thru a few glasses. Penne Norcina was warm, rich, simple, and a perfectly balanced way to fatten up on a cold eve. Had a fat glass of grappa to finish things off that may have been the cheapest pour in town.
Staff were a mix of very traditional Italian and one very CapHill barman. All very helpful if somewhat laconic.
Zero complaints. Will be back to check out their extraordinarily awesome-looking happy hour. -

Oh, Panevino...where have you been all my life?!?!?
I've only experienced happy hour at Panevino, but the selection of food and drinks are exceptional for the price!
Now this place is the real deal. When you can find a place like this that has a menu simplified and food tasty...don't let it go. Pasta + sauce...that is all it should be--there's no need for extra fillers. I could eat the penne al pesto for days along with the bruschetta and piatto di salami. Plates are a decent size for the price. I got full off the HH bowl of pasta, appetizer and a glass of wine. SOOO yummy. Happy hour is only at the bar and seating is limited, but it's well worth the wait.
I'll def need to update when I sit down for a full meal. -

Went here last night...
Ordered the Bruschetta for an appetizer, the bread was soaked in butter and was almost translucent, and then broiled to the point of hardly being edible.
Ordered the Veal Marsala, it was the toughest veal I've ever eaten, at home or in a restaurant... I even gave my friend a bite to confirm, she was chewing for literally three minutes before she swallowed. When my dish arrived, I tried cutting the veal with a fork to no avail.
Otherwise, the vegetables, potatoes, and Marsala w/ mushroom sauce were very good.
Three stars for the manager practicing good customer service, otherwise two stars...
Someone let me know where there is good Italian food, I spent an hour looking and came up with Panevino :*( -

Cool Italian restaurant in Capitol Hill. We ordered the cioppino and penne al salmone. Both were delicious. We sat at the bar and received very good service from the bar tender. The atmosphere is great and there was definitely a lot of energy in the place when we had dinner there. It may be a tad loud but worth going to regardless.

The bolognese was really mediocre. And they didn't serve it with Parmesan, which is the most important part. Also the waiter/owner just didn't give a flying f*** about us and we're like the nicest people on earth. I won't go back here and will tell others to stay away. There are do many good Italian places in Seattle; don't waste your hard earned bucks.

AMBIENCE - B+ - small seating - I would recommend making reservations or eating at counter. Can get pretty loud when crowded - nothing to absorb the noise in this modern blk/wht. tiled block! Street parking or paid pvt. lots. I love a clean spacious bathroom.
SERVICE - A - friendly host and servers throughout meal and nice touch of mgmt. coming by to make sure meal was good.
FOOD - A - Love fresh pastas and sauces!
PRICE - A - Reasonable and price perfectly for what you're getting!
I"m quite impressed... the variety of fresh pastas, meats, veggies that make up the dish is deliciously good! I especially the the bottomless foccacia bread sticks that keep one munching while waiting for the next dishes or drinks.
I had the pesto gnocchi which was perfectly creamy basel pillowy morsels with every bite. The carpaccio with arugula and capers - the meat was thinly sliced and silky and delicious!
I had a groupon $15 for $30 and no problems processing.
Loved my waiter with his slight italian sexy accent! -

Man...I was really craving Italian. This was my 2nd time in 4 days and I am still 0 for 2 in good Italian/pasta. I have been wanting to come here for forever because the menu looked so good. I bought the Amazon local deal in eager anticipation.
I had been here once before this but only had a glass of wine (had other dinner plans but the house Sangiovese was good!) while my friends had the penne al salmon and gnocchi. They both looked so good so when I came in to use my Amazon local deal today, I went ahead and ordered the penne al salmon. My boyfriend ordered the papardelle with rabbit (daily special) and our friend had a small caesar salad with chicken.
I tasted my boyfriend's papardelle and it seemed to taste decent. I like the way they cook the pasta here but my penne al salmon was SO SO SALTY. I was sick and I could still tell it was a salt lick. It took me a couple sick person distracted bites to realize just how salty it was. If I wasn't 1/3rd done, I would have sent it back. I tried to enjoy the salmon, peas and dill but all I could taste was salt. I think it might have been one of the saltiest things I have ever eaten, no joke. My body still hates me for it, I can feel it!
Our service was good and I like the ambiance. I can't stand coming to this part of town because of the parking even though we somehow got lucky this time.
For some crazy reason, I'd still give it a shot for happy hour. The menu looks so good, I love Italian and I want to like this place so badly, but I think I will have to draw the line of a second shot at happy hour. If it's not good then, well, there's just too many good Italian places in Seattle to keep coming here. -

I went here with 4 of my closest buddies and a single Groupon to massacre. The atmosphere was so nice. Our waittress was friendly and patient. She had a sense of humor which was revealed when we joked with her a few times. I will be using my own groupon here today so there may be an update!

We had a touch of cabin fever after the snowy week in Seattle. A movie and dinner out, were in order. Following a downtown movie we ventured up to Capitol Hill for some food. Our destination was purely based on proximity to an elusive on-street parking spot. Karma was good and we were soon strolling down Broadway looking for an inviting place for dinner.
Pannevino looked attractive and the menu appealing. We were promptly seated by the accommodating waitstaff and ordered dinner. While the place is open and with a modern decor, it still felt very welcoming. Their syrah by the glass did not disappoint nor did the focaccia and olive oil/balsamic. We ordered the Spaghetti Bella Napoli (clams, garlic, white wine sauce) and the Rigatoni Bologese.
After a short wait, our meals arrived. Our friendly waiter asked my wife if she'd like some freshly grated Parmesan, which she did. When he asked me, I declined, stating "not on the clams" He profusely thanked me and patted me on the back, explaining that he was from the Amalfi Coast and cheese is just not done on a seafood dish such as what I had ordered. I thought it was great that he cared enough about what they were serving to thank me for not ruining it.
Both our meals were absolutely delicious, needless to say service was excellent. -

My friend and I went to Panevino for dinner last week. Everything about the experience was top notch. I loved it. The atmosphere is light and open and very European. As Kate S. mentioned, this is a perfect date spot.
We started with the portobello appetizer and caprese salad. Both were excellent. I am already a mushroom fan but these little delectables completely pushed me into the "love" category. Yum. The caprese salad had thick pieces of fresh mozzarella which were perfect.
For dinner I had the rib eye and roasted potato and vegetable entree and my friend had the halibut. The steak was very good. My only complaint would be that it was extremely well marbled but I guess that is to be expected sometimes with a rib eye. There was quite a bit of fat. However, the meat quality was great and it was cooked just right at a medium rare. The halibut was melt-in-your-mouth exquisite. I don't know if I've had better halibut anywhere else.
Dessert was the tirimisu which was also a showstopper. We loved it and inhaled every bite. We also shared a bottle of the house Sangiovese which was very drinkable and tasty with our meal.
The server was great and pretty funny. He made a joke about me checking myself out in the bar mirror when I definitely was not...I was just scoping out their bar set up! :)
The total came to about $110 before tax and tip. We had the Yelp deal so it was a bit more reasonable. I would come here again in a heart beat. In fact I plan to go again this weekend. Panevino served me what was easily one of my most memorable meals of the year!
Update: I just went again for dinner and had the gnocchi with nutmeg and cream sauce. It was divine! Panevino is definitely one of my favorite places in the city now. They have house wine for $4/glass during happy hour and the wine is good!Listed in: Favorites

Review from Kate S.
Panevino is a lovely little Italian joint with a distinctly mod-american feel. The food itself is scrumptious and fairly authentic; but the decor, ambiance, and service felt a bit rigid and cold. White walls offset with black chairs and picture frames, clean lines, and openly spaced seating made for a fresh and posh space -- but I tend to enjoy the old world charm of close tables and warm woods and brass colors when it comes to Italian places. It reminds me more of my time in Europe and I always appreciate that nostalgia (I'm looking at you La Rustica).
I had been sitting on a dinner for 2 Yelp deal for nearly a year now, and figured I should use it up before the $ spent went to waste. A quick phone call and bus ride and a lovely evening out started with the waitress breaking the complementary bottle of Chianti on the floor. Luckily neither one of us were splashed, and another table was offered (not needed), another bottle promptly came out without being broken, and the mess quickly cleaned.
Appetizers were then ordered -- LOVED my beet salad with arugula and asiago cheese. The clam & mussel appetizer was ok -- the spicy red sauce being the best part of it, sadly, in my opinion.
Also sadly, my company wanted the Carbonara but they were out of pancetta and therefore couldn't make it. So he opted for the Ciopinno which was pretty much exactly the same as his appetizer with salmon, calamari and shrimp added as well. The salmon in it was also bit too fishy/off tasting for me. For my main entree I opted for the Gnocchi Tartufati and was beyond pleased with my dish. Traditional potato gnocchis done just right, with a cheesy cream sauce that tasted subtly of nutmeg and garlic. (I'm highly anticipating the leftovers for my lunch today).
Tiramisu was the obvious choice for dessert -- and I was told my eyelids fluttered rather obviously when taking my first bite. It was a lighter than typical tiramisu, but perfectly balanced and probably one of the better ones I've had ever, period.
I was a little disappointed with the check -- considering I thought the Yelp deal would cover the whole meal but only covered for $90 worth instead. There was also an $8 "yelp charge" that I couldn't get explained either. However -- for $20 total I am not complaining about the meal we had. Without the deal the prices might be a bit on the higher side for equivalent noshings elsewhere. Come here for happy hour though and you are getting a stellar deal on any food you may order.
All in all a lovely place for really good food, nice conversation and making eyes across the table at the date I hope you bring here.Listed in: The quickest way to my…, Noodles

My go to take out for a filling, balanced meal that I can stretch for dinner and light lunch of leftovers. The pasta bolognese is hearty and delivers a fair amount of protein through the generous helping of meat sauce. It's served with several slices of fresh focaccia, which need to be bagged up if you're saving them for lunch the following day. I always get sides of spinach and broccolini. Truth be told, sometimes I just order those sides for take out. The veggie portions are substantial. Spinach is steamed with a touch of garlic and a squeeze of lemon. The broccolini are crisp tender, also served with lemon.
Although dining in is a treat, thanks to european type atmosphere and sidewalk seating, I'm mainly a Panevino take out girl. -

Port Orchard, WA
The main reason I go here is that I love the bread. It's soft and fluffy, and tastes amazing with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar that they give you. I definitely get cravings for it.
I've had their rigatoni con pollo, pasta primavera, and their caesar salad, and all were pretty satisfying, though I wish there were more veggies and less chicken in the rigatoni. I've had a couple drinks here as well, which were alright (I didn't like them that much because I ordered things I don't typically go for) but I think the bartender is really nice and attentive. It's fun to watch him work.
The servers seem pretty okay, but flustered, and it's kind of hit or miss if you'll get good service, depending on how busy the place is.
This review actually sounds a little harsh, but I do think they're really good. The food is very reliable and filling (and the bread, once again, is really awesome.) This is definitely a place I see myself going to semi-regularly. -
Review from Nina H.
Came back for a second time with a friend after we refused to wait 45 minutes for Ristorante Machiavelli. My experience this time wasn't as great as the first, unfortunately.
The whole dining experience felt super rushed and I felt pressured to finish my food fast because our server made it seem like he was hovering. He also forgot to bring us more bread after we asked for more.
The food was also just OK. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and it was SO greasy. My friend Kevin W. had ordered it before and I was so excited to try it myself but I was utterly disappointed. It was way too greasy and the bacon was overwhelming, I know I can't complain because bacon is amazing but I didn't want to feel like I was eating a heart attack.
I still really like this place though because it's cute, romantic and the happy hour deals are legit. I just wasn't to fond of my last experience there.Listed in: CapHill Chaos, Ti amo, Italia!

Stoppd in for early dinner on Saturday. Bartender/waiter provided great service and recommended a good bottle Sangiovese AFTER he knew what entrees we were considering. He wanted to be certain the wine would enhance the food. The pairing was perfect. Casual dining, good service without feeling rushed. Owner stopped by the table to make sure everyting was okay. Both pasta dishes were excellent. Pasta was cooked pfectly. Ingredints were fresh and flavoring was delicious. Will definitely be back.

Just like the rating says, it's as good as it gets.
Prime location in the middle of Broadway, I was having a hard time looking for parking, that's like the only negative, but it's not really a negative. I am just saying.
the contemporary feeling is nice, and they add some old school picture frame / mirrors as decorations, make it a nice place.
Awesome service. I never got the name of our server, but he was attentive, check back time to time just to make sure everything is ok. Good explanation of the menu, entry, appetizer, dessert, wine, everything, and really nice and friendly.
an additional bonus is, we were going to use the Yelp coupon, $45 for full meal for two people (worth $90). but then we had four people, they let us just use the coupon as cash instead of the fix menu. I think that was very nice and considerate.
Now, the important things! I have already forgot which winery, but we had some really good Riesling. the appetizer - the GUAZZETTO DI COZZE E VONGOLE was good, and I really like the CARPACCIO.
My friends thought their entries was just ok, but I really like my COSTOLETTE DI AGNELLO. Cooked perfectly, and it was very good with the red wine sauce.
now, the most important is the dessert!
We ordered the Tiramisu, which was ok. However, the Panna cotta is the best I have ever eaten (given that I haven't eaten a lot of that in my life). The cream was very thick and flavorful, not too sweet and just right.
I would recommend this place and would definitely go back again. Probably when it's easier to find parking though. -
Review from Brynne H.
This is a cute, little (almost cramped) Italian joint nicely located on Broadway. While they aren't reinventing the wheel or even making the wheel as amazing as it could be, they present a nice, serviceable array of Italian food that should satisfy all but the pickiest of consumers.
The service is pleasant and friendly and attentive, and seemed knowlegeable about the menu and even made suggestions. At some places, getting a waiter to make a suggestion is like pulling teeth, but the folks here have been willing enough to offer their thoughts for me. Always appreciated.
Honestly, you probably be blown away by or even super excited for anything you get here, but you'll probably be satisfied and full and you won't have to break open the piggy bank. -

The dining room was packed on a Thursday evening but luckily a table opened up for me and my date so we waited only 5 minutes. Upon handing over my Groupon we received no fuss or looks from our waiter. We split the caprese salad, 1/2 carafe of house red wine, I ordered the gnocchi tartufato and he got the cioppino. Everything was delicious, seriously. I've never ordered gnocchi at a restaurant before so I was a little apprehensive but I had read reviews about how good it is here and seeing it was housemade I had to give it a go. It did not disappoint; the sauce was creamy and flavorful... I think I mmmm'd every bite I took. Oooh, and their cioppino was spot on with the seafood and spiciness of the broth. Yup, better than Elliott's.
I think our waiter was bartending as well but you wouldn't have known it since he was quite attentive. The owner or manager cleared our plates and chatted with us for a little bit, nice touch. I really enjoyed the food, ambiance and great service... I can't wait to go back! -

I enjoy spending time with my friends. I also enjoy good food. We came here for dinner, and had great time. People treated us with the attention you deserve. Not pushy, but enough to remind us that the were there to dine. The selections is very vast and the desserts are exquisite! If you find yourself on a date or just want a nice dinner with friends, they will make sure the only thing you have to worry about is deciding between the many dishes you can chose from.
Better yet - come back often and try them all! -

Penne giannino has left the menu, but with so many other outstanding pasta dishes available, I'm not too disappointed. I recently had the rigatoni con pollo, which is pretty much what it sounds like: rigatoni, chicken, broccoli, and bell peppers in a tomato-cream sauce. I'm pretty sure there was some parmesan in the sauce, as it was quite rich and a bit salty -- but not too salty.
The service, cocktails, atmosphere, and food are as good as ever. This is truly my favorite dinner spot in Seattle.Listed in: Cocktails for beginners

Right when you step into Panevino you can feel the energy of the restaurant. I was greeted promptly by who I would presume to be the owner. I had a reservation but was waiting a little for a table to clear still, but the owner was very nice and assured me I would be seated ASAP.
Seating is somewhat intimate as the restaurant is not that large. Our waiter was helpful in suggesting wines and drinks. They have a great menu, but I decided just to order a main course. I went with petto di pollo which translated is just chicken breast. It was served with fresh tomatoes, and roasted cucumbers, carrots, spinach and potatoes. The chicken breast was grilled perfectly. It had a nice grilled taste on the outside and was juicy and tender on the inside. The potatoes were crisp on the outside and flavorful on the inside. Overall I'd say my dish was perfect. It wasn't to heavy but still filling.
There isn't a printed dessert menu, but be sure to ask your waiter what is available. I got their cannolis. The shell was crunch and sweet, and the ricotta filling was rich but not heavy.
If you're looking for a new Italian restaurant to try out, I would recommend coming here. Just make sure to make a reservation ahead of time. -

Just ordinary. Anchovies and Olives is less than a mile away, an order of magnitude better, and minimally more expensive. One of us awoke with a headache the next AM, without drinking wine - a sure sign of chemical additives.

I had a very bad experience at this restaurant, although with different staff and better food, it would probably be better! We had a reservation for a large group, and some of our members were very late. This caused us to be taking up our table without ordering our meals, although a few drinks were bought. After everyone arrived, it took quite a while for our waiter to take our orders, but he was very friendly. By the time our orders had finally been taken, another large group started to arrive, but we were still there. Obviously in this situation I originally felt horrible, of course this would be very stressful for the owner...however we quickly lost any feeling of guilt as the owner turned hostile and unprofessional. He originally said he would charge us $300 for sitting there, at our reserved table. This was a gross exaggeration of what we would otherwise be paying, and we were appalled. He was rude and aggressive when speaking with us, and when we said we understood, and how could we help, he would not come up with any solution, but simply yelled some more. As a restaurant manager it is his job, not the customers, to come up with a solution; if he had politely asked us to leave early, squeeze into a tighter space, etc., we would have gladly helped him out however possible. We had also not been told that there would be a time limit to our stay, or a warning as the next reservation approached. This seems to show poor management of time, and I still cannot get over how incredibly rude and unprofessional this man was. When our food finally arrived (with the dishes we had ordered ranging between 15 and 22 dollars each), many of us had very dry, bland, unappetizing meals. I couldn't even get mine down, and definitely did not take my leftovers. I don't know if the food always sucks, or if this was another inappropriate way to get back at us, but either way it was an absolute waste of money. I would suggest only going here for the bar, if at all, as the staff was nice but the food sucked, and avoid the manager!!

I think BW's review is right on: Really beautiful food (per my taste buds; I was literally moaning the entire time), and it's easy to tell that the owner is 100% engaged with the food and front of house.
I will come back to sit within the outdoor seating and people watch the Broadway crowd with a half liter of the house red and gnocchi. As I'm writing this, I'm looking forward to summer already.
One thing: They do charge a default 18% gratuity on coupons (read: Groupon/Living Social/et al.). We don't usually tip at 18%, and we were displeased on principal at the mandatory sneaky nature of the policy (a fee for the time it takes to process a coupon?). Still, the service was really better than average, and we were very pleased with life after the wine, so we let it go. -

I've tried this place about 2 times. It's like a fancy overpriced spaghetti factory. I wanted to like this place, especially when there aren't a ton of Italian restaurants on the hill, but the food is really mediocre.
Its also a difficult place to enjoy a meal. The high concrete ceilings and walls, though cute, just fill the space with sound making it so loud in there that you're forced you to scream across a two person table just to have a conversation while you eat.
On the up side, the service was good. -

I had the corkscrew pasta with Italian sausage in a spicy tomato sauce which was AWESOME. Delicious with a kick, just the way I like it. The gnocchis look very tempting and tasted great, especially since it's made in-house, but, as I suspected, they are also very filling. My friend had it with the truffle sauce and she got full after 5 bites :p
My boyfriend and I arrived a little early for our group's dinner reservation and it was perfect for sampling various dishes at happy hour pricing! We loved their meat balls and bruschetta!
Service was very friendly and authentically Italian. The ambiance was on the loud side but perfect for our group since we have a 5-month-old who enjoys background noise a lot (and we didn't have to worry about him crying in the middle of a quiet dinner). -

I had a night out to myself and was craving some pasta. I used to own an Italian restaurant myself that I built from scratch so I'm familiar with Italian food and I backpacked Italy and did the eurorail-thing upon graduating from the UW-which everybody should do before going into the workforce/rat race. I was familiar with the history of the ownership and knew they were related to B&O Espresso and real Italians which is why I came here tonight.
I rode up on my Ducati Monster and received a warm reception from one of the waiters, Nello (spelling?), that moved from Italy to help open the restaurants. We chatted about where he came from, Amalfi Coast, and about Aprilia & Ducati motorcycles/scooters.
I sat at the bar right when the 2nd happy hour started, 9-close, 1st HH 3-6pm. Happy Hour is only at the bar. Beer/Wine $4 Marinis $5 and about 15 dishes around the $5-6 range. Angie, Nello's wife, was working the bar and was very accommodating and the service was excellent. I ordered the fusilli salsiccia, scampi al limone, & tiramisu. To start off I had a Peroni draught beer, this basically makes an italian restaurant somewhat authentic. Many have Moretti beer, but not Peroni. Great unpretentious good Italian food served by Italians. Great place for people watching and a date, especially when the weather is nice they open up the sliding doors. The only thing missing in this place is a bunch of old Italian men playing cards and watching football(soccer). -

Came with a $40 groupon (bought for $20) and still ended up spending another $40.
Antipasto misto: pretty good, cheese was a little bland though and I would've liked a couple more olives.
Complementary bread: they looked really good but wasn't as flavorful as I would've thought, even with the oil & vinegar.
Gnocchi in tomato sauce: this needed meat. The gnocchi wasn't amazing, neither was the sauce, I think meat would've helped.
Spiral pasta with sausage and spicy tomato sauce: it was ok. Sausage was yummy.
Syrah: my favorite part of the meal. it was good.
Place was packed and they were busy, but service was good.
Glad I got to try this place with my groupon, but didn't love it. -

Went there for dinner and company last week. I honestly didn't think I was gonna like the place. It's in cap hill. It's in the middle of hipster central. The menu appears to be on the expensive side. Hell, it's just Italian food!
I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious! The service was superb! I really enjoyed the night. The place was packed by 7pm. We showed up early and got a table without any problem. -

i'm giving this 4 stars with the caveat that i used a yelp deal that yielded us a crazy amount of food plus a really nice bottle of wine (we got an upgrade because they were out of the promotional wine).
so, the food is solidly decent if not especially authentic.
mushrooms on crostini: a little bit of overkill. a whole lot of mushrooms & kind of rich.
saltimbocca: very lean but still very tender (if a skosh salty), potatoes were very good & the random side veg was nicely steamed but nothing special.
carbonara: very tasty, loads of pancetta but not very eggy. i like that aspect but it's definitely not authentic.
tiramisu: not usually a big fan but this one was especially good in that it was light & fluffy but still very moist & flavorful
our server was a bit overworked but still excellent. she knew what she was doing & had that casual, treat-us-like-regulars friendliness that i rather like.
the biggest downside of this place for me is the noise level. really loud! of course, that's more a personal preference since i think that could also be some of it's charm - the lively, bustling caphill vibe. -

Double-dated w/ my g/f, Nina H. and her man (who is excellent at Italian, just like in Inglorious Basterds).
I won for ordering the best dish: Spaghetti Carbonara, cannot go wrong w/ bacon and carbs (diet starts tomorrow). The Carpaccio was delicious and the provide generous amounts of arugula so it's pretty much a salad.
Food was good, atmosphere was good, eating w/ friends was awesome. -

This place was great!
Wine had a great body we ordered the full house carafe.
The appetizer we ordered was great: Guazzetto Di Cozze E Vongole - translated mussels and clams in this rich spicy tomato sauce and baked bread.
I ordered the Fusilli Con Salsiccia - spiral pasta w/sausage and tomato sauce, it was great had a little spice to it, the sausag and sauce would get all in the spirals.... I love spiral pasta because of that reason!
My love ordered 1 of the 2 Gnocchi dishes on the menu: Gnocchi Tartufati - Gnocchi, fontina cheese and nutmeg
in a truffle cream sauce this was soo good!
The service was amazing!
We came here because of our Groupon we got back in April, but we would definitely come back! I don't normally hang out on Broadway, but all the places I've been I have thoroughly enjoyed! -

We went there last night for a pre-Valentine date night out. It was our first time there and we found the service friendly but not overbearing. The dinner was great. Gorgonzola pear salad, clams and mussels over a delicious broth, followed by melanzane for me and spicy sausage pasta for my husband. We went early and it was a Sunday eve so it was pretty quiet which we liked. We also sat near the window and didn't freeze! (I hate when the opposite happens) We used our groupon and I think it's a great way to try a new place out. As a pesce/vegetarian, I was happy that there were several choices for me to try and I look forward to stopping by again. It's casual nice, which is what I prefer. I'd also like to try it in summer when they probably open up the french doors. NIce place!
