I'm almost tempted to give them a 5 star, but don't want to let you fellow yelpers down lol.

It's the first-ever time where they served the butter chicken with a candle underneath to keep it warm throughout the meal--what a nice thoughtful touch!  The owner bragged that he's the only one in the city who does that; he may be right as I eat a lot of this stuff!

Though another reason not to give full ratings b/c i did ask for spicy, and honestly, it didn't burn at all where you're grabbing for the water, you know?!  I should've told them I'm half chinese, half-indian lol.  Later the server told me that they do this on the safe side...oh well...now i need to ask for extra spicy.

The rice was good w/ its peas and all, though I do prefer the roasted garlic like some other places.

It's quite spacious, clean, white table cloths w/ glass top, a bit classier than some.

Mmm mm mm... I've only been here for their weekend brunch buffet but it's been a couple times and they've both been delicious.

The staff here is extremely friendly (I'm pretty sure the owner thought I was cute... cause he told me... cause he's just that way... and now he'll probably know my name every time I walk in which is always nice).

Now. The food. Buffets aren't always the greatest indication of a restaurant's quality, but I haven't been disappointed either time I've been here. I'm a huge, giant butter chicken fan and Palki's doesn't disappoint, especially as far as buffet goes. Very saucy, very flavourful and just a little bit of spice (just the way I like it). I also very much enjoyed their mixed veggie curry and the lentil. The korma was kind of meh. The buffet doesn't have a super huge selection, but it's also only $12, so score, really.

Plus, they didn't mind that my friend and I sat there for a full three hours nursing our chai and chatting away (let it be known that we wouldn't have done it if there was a line... the restaurant was fairly busy but not packed on this particular cloudy Sunday).

One day soon I'll head over for a real dinner but for now, Indian buffet brunch close to home? Sold!

Oh, and we recently got takeout from Palki's Commercial Drive location - huge portions and super delicious! A++++ Would order again!

Have been here twice. I am boring and got the butter chicken both times, but it's just so damn good!

My partner got a curry that was not on the menu and recommended to him by the waiter. He really enjoyed it.

It's a little pricey, so it will never be a regular restaurant of ours, but we will go here every now and then.

My wife and I have been coming to this restaraunt since it opened on a regular basis.Having been born in the U.K. where a good proportion of the worlds best Indian restaraunts are located I can say that I am very particular about the taste and flavour of my currys. These guys are one of the few Indian restaraunt's in the lower mainland to get the spicing and flavor right on all the currys they serve. The service is promt and if you have a problem it is taken care of right away. If you desire a curry that's not on the menu they will do there best to accommodate you. Delicious food.

Good service, but I wasn't impressed by the server's strange manner and his "jokes." The restaurant is very dark.

Our channa masala tasted like it might have been burned or something had gone wrong at some stage -- it was thick, heavy and just didn't taste like the wonderful masalas I've tried before. Poppadoms were burned too.

The only things I really, really enjoyed were the vegetable and chicken pakoras, and my mango lassi. There are other, far better Indian restaurants in Vancouver, so I won't be coming back here.

Having tried various Indian cuisine from various places in the Pacific Northwest, I'd rank Palki as my best experience (foodwise) yet.

Coming from Birmingham, England (so-called Balti capital of the world), I have found it difficult to find anything that compares to back home, but Palki was on par with some of my more mediocre experiences from the old country.  I had the Chicken Murgh Korma and my father the Chicken Murgh Jalfrazie (interesting Germanlike spelling of Jalfrazi) and thought both were a little spicy, the Korma in particular.  The quality of chicken used was a lot better than I've experienced in North America before and the Naan was excellent, too.

The service was ok, but I did feel like the waiter wanted to choose the order and content of our sides for my father and me.  I welcome some pointers in restaurants, but I think I can manage the decison of one Naan or two and whether to have chutney or not.  All said, our waiter was on top of all his tables and got the food out quickly and pleasantly.

The price was a bit demanding as Indian food goes ($11.50 per dish, rices and sides extra).

I'd probably take one of my English friends there to get their impression, but I wouldn't rush back.

I'm going to try Viji's next in South Granville.  I'm told that it is on par, if not better.

Palki is Hindi for Universal Disappointment

$62 for home delivery, sufficient to feed three brave souls.  Food ranged from mediocre to criminal.  The tandoori vegetables ($16!) tasted like they forgot to take the cling film off before cooking.

    boo.

I've eaten here a few times over the years and never been disappointed. Fortunately each time has been with several family members so I've had the opportunity to sample many dishes. My favourite curries here are the butter chicken and the saag paneer, but they also do very nice lamb curry and channa masala (chickpea curry). The lamb kebab and chicken tikka are both excellent, as well, which coming from someone who is not usually a big fan of lamb, is saying a lot. The vindaloo is apparently not as spicy as some "true curry fans" with whom I have eaten here would like, but I still found it very flavourful. If you're a mere mortal like myself who does normally find curry to be somewhat spicy, fear not: there's ice cream (mango and other varieties) waiting for you at the end, and the friendly staff will keep your water glass refilled.

If you live in North Van or find yourself in that part of town, or simply just want an excuse to take the ferry and have a great meal, this is definitely worth the trip.

Friendly service and fairly accessible location across from LGH. Street parking.

Kinda crowded but always a good sign ! Couldn't remember what we had but they were all decent and delicious. Probably the usual - chix tikka masala et al...

My friend asked for "Indian beer" not realizing that there was actually "Indian beer" on the booze menu.

I don't like Indian food as I find the spices a bit too much for me. I however loved the food here! The staff were very accommodating and I would love to return here!

We were looking for a good indian place when we were visiting north vancouver and found this one from the hotel services book.It was a sunday and was close to 2.10pm when we arrived and were initially told that they close at 2.30pm but still did us a favour of letting us in.The manager speaks as if he owns the hotel and there is no better place than palki..There was one more indian family and a canadian gentleman who were eating and he was like rushing us to finish our foodThe food is ok.When it came to   the check the manager advises me from behind the counter to get another amex card as mine had to be swiped a couple of times .He thinks this is the first time i used a credit card .come on give me a break!.

The sunday buffet is 12$ which  is far too costly as compared to indian restaurants in surrey or downtown vancouver. The other family did get a drink with their buffet not sure why we did not.
We being vegetarians did not taste their chicken or any non veg food which the manager kept on bragging saying people from sweden and scotland come to eat their butter chicken. There were just a couple of vegetables and dal.The naan was good which i found was common in all indian  restaurants in the vancouver area  I would have given them more stars but for the manager who seems like a new immigrant without an experience in the restaurant  business.
