Mmm, cheese. One reason I can never go vegan is my love of cheese. And having Paddy's within walking distance pretty much means I will never give up the curds. What a selection they have! Hundreds of cheeses! And in addition to your standard cheddars, bries, chevres, goudas, etc., they also have all kinds of interesting flavoured cheeses - Guinness, mango-ginger, Moroccan spice, Thai curry, horseradish... oh the list goes on. Show up for a party with a few cheeses from this place, and your host/ess will adore you.

We've stopped in here a few times, to pick up a hostess gift and to satisfy our cheese cravings. I am not a cheese connoisseur, but I do like culinary adventures. This spot has a lot of choice including international and Canadian sources. The porter cheddar is a winner for me (from Ireland I think), it didn't even make it to our destination as we started nibbling on the drive over. Fortunately was had also bought an applewood cheddar to give to our hostess.
I think I could go every week for a year and still find something new to try. I love that they will give you a sample of anything to help you decide and are very honest in their personal evaluations. -

I've passed by Paddy's several times, always hesitating outside the door, contemplating whether I should go in or not. I've always found the idea of a cheese shop a little bit daunting - I don't know a lot about cheese or what I like in a cheese - I just know that I love cheese!
When I finally did go in, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the two women working there were very friendly. They helped me find what I want and offered several different cheeses to try. I ended up picking up two different kinds of cheese as well as some beautifully sliced proscuitto (best proscuitto I've found in Edmonton thus far!).
Overall, it was a very good experience and much more personalized than that at the Italian Centre Shop. Prices were a little high (all though in my mind, you really do get what you pay for, and it was well worth it) but the assortment of fine meats and cheeses was wonderful. I will definitely return. -

I swung by Paddy's on a Saturday afternoon and picked up an amazing 100 g of peppered salami. I know it's famous as a cheese shop, but they have some amazing meats here, too. Along the shelves sit really interesting products like blood orange EVOO, too. I was so tempted to buy that - maybe next time!
The service here was prompt and friendly, and I liked the samples along the counter. The only problem (and this is not really a "real" problem) is that there were almost too many cheeses to choose from! Bon appetit! -

Paddy's Cheese Market is fabulous. They have a really great selection of cheeses from all over the world and Canada (which being from the West Coast I was really happy to see some of the fabulous BC cheeses offered).
I was also really impressed at the price, decent prices for really good cheese and meat.
The woman behind the counter was really lovely and knew a lot about cheese and pairing and generally made the visit delightful. -

Paddy's cheese shop is a high standard cheese store that offers a great variety of cheese. They've got cheeses from France, England, Holland, Denmark, Canada (of course!) and more. I would suggest visiting this place if you're planning a wine and cheese evening or just love to try different cheeses... all the way from the bleus to the brie's and back.
The staff definitely know what they're talking about. I went there with just the memory of a particular English cheddar-like cheese and they pinpointed it for me (it was the Wensleydale cheese). Curious to me, was the unecessary non-cheese options in a side refrigerator. For some strange reason they had two or three varieties of smoked meat (wake up!! You can't really compete on the smoked meat selection) and even weirder: they have hummus and other such dips. I wish they'd retain their orginality and stick with the cheese and cheese products
Talking about other products, they have a nice collection of affordable cheese boards and knives etc. The high street area is a good neighborhood, in general, if you're looking for some cute little gift.
Ok. I have to tell you what I bought: 100 gm of Saint-André cheese, 100 gm of Wensleydale cheese and 150 gm of aged, firm goat cheese (costs $20 for 150 gm, to put things in perspective). The other cheeses are closer to affordable. -

Paddy's is a shop that sells cheese from all around the world. If you're from England and you haven't been able to find your favourite cheeses from home, chances are you'll find it here. I saw that they had Manchego, a cheese from Spain that I absolutely worshipped when I was traveling there. I bought some, to reminisce, but it wasn't quite the same. It's hard to keep it fresh. While it tasted like Manchego, it was a little dry and hard. That's the only time I've bought from here. I was a little disappointed, but that won't keep me from trying it again. I love sampling new stuff you can't get at Safeway. Cheddar is NOT the end-all be-all, after all! Paddy's also has gift baskets and condiments from around the world, so if you're looking for a unique and yummy housewarming gift or stocking stuffer, this place will have something for the adventurous eater.

This is definitely the store for cheese lovers. I discovered it by chance, and now I come here regularly. If I am planning a fun night of wine drinking and cheese eating with my friends, Paddy's is where I head to stock up. The cheese is expensive- always has been, always will be. Cheese at Paddy's is no exception, but their selection is so great, that the chance to try different kinds of cheese from around the world makes the splurge worth it.
I cannot say which cheese is the best as everybody's tastes differ, but I do love all kinds of cheese from Switzerland and Spain, as well as those stinky French cheeses, and when it comes to selection of those- Paddy's delivers. You can request to try the cheese before you buy it, and the sales people are happy to let you do so. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. But I repeat, this cheese place is expensive, especially if you want to purchase many different kinds of cheese to try them out. Brace yourself and step into Paddy's. You might just find your favorite cheese place in town! -

This is a cheese lover's paradise! I wandered in a couple days ago when I was in the area and found myself asking out loud if this was heaven. Paddy's has over a couple hundred, yes, HUNDRED, different kind of cheese available for purchase. They import cheeses from far away places like Denmark and Ireland. I was a bit overwhelmed with the selection so I decided to try two different flavours. I purchased two 100 gram slices of cheese to take home. One was a brown marble looking cheese that was soaked in Guinness and brought in from Ireland. I also picked up a Cayenne and Green Pepper Gouda from our own backyard. Both are amazing and didn't last a day in my house! I am looking forward to checking out their Christmas selection when they bring in an additional one hundred or so varieties. The I am looking forward to trying a couple new cheeses a month from Paddys!
