Well, If you didn't know, my friends and I do the Karaoke Circuit in Vancouver, and it's been a while since I found one that wasn't over crowded! Thursday nights starting at 730-1130, plus prizes (!) and a great selection of songs! Shhhh! I like that it starts kinda early as most of us gotta work the next day, right? No song books so you have to kinda wrack your brain for songs or do some homework before, but hey, if you're a karaoke veteran like me, it's not a problem!
The food: yummy. Their Thursday night special was a yorkshire pudding with roast beef inside (huge portion!) for $9. Fries were great. Gravy... mmm.. not the best I've ever had.
Had a Paddlewheeler pub coffee (baileys, kaluha, coffee, whip), it was okay. Nachos were pretty good. The service is prompt, attentive and friendly which makes a big difference when you're sitting there for hours. :P
    See you next week!

The best summer time pub in New Westminster. It's got a HUGE patio with a view of the river. It's great for spending the afternoon in the sun with a couple friends and a few pints.

Service is good and friendly. The food is pretty standard pub fare and the portions are generous. Beer selection is average.

They're got a lot of promo nights (music bingo, karaoke, poker tournaments...) that are usually good fun.

If you watch as many Hong Kong action flicks/crime dramas as I do, you know all clandestine meetings are either done on (a) rooftops or (b) docks/harbour.  It's fast becoming the cliche in Hollywood too.  Want to flush out a mole in your criminal enterprise, dispose a body, inspect counterfeit bills or conduct a big drug trade?  You damn well better have a damn nice skyline view or be standing on great waterfront property.

Being a nice sunny day and needing a place to meet for some 'SRS BSNS' - my boss and I decided to run up the expense account with patio beers (sidenote: ya, I have a rough life).  Sure, it wasn't some big crime lord meeting or even hostile corporate takeover talk - but as I said: SRS BSNS!

The patio at Paddlewheeler faces the New West Quay - the water view isn't as grand as The Mill's Coal Harbour view (one of my old post-office haunts) but I think I like it more.  Firstly, it's cheaper (seriously, when submitting a receipt for a liquid lunch you get less questions when you keep the total reasonable)  - it's a simple ass neighbourhood pub - no pretension.  The patio is heated and there's a seperate smoking patio (fuck you, no-fun Vancouver by-laws).  Service is friendly and fast.  Great waterview, heated smoking patio and reasonable drink prices - what's not to love?

The brew selection isn't all that great - despite having over a dozen beers on tap, they are mainly mega-brews (again, neighourhood pub) - but they do had OK Spring brews for $4.75 on special when I visited.  When the beer you would have picked anyways is the special - you're running damned good.  "Huzzah!  Diana has put away her bosom. Apollo has lifted his skirt. The day has been launched!"

Funny enough, they list the draft Canadian and Coors Light as being served 'subzero' - that's one way to force down that swill, I suppose.  Finally, the parking lot in the quay is only $1.50 for 2 hours and there are TVs if you like the sports bar vibe.

I'm seriously kicking myself for not discovering this joint earlier - I used to work 10 minutes away from here (River's Reach was closer and sufficient for an office bar).  Then again, I was turned off from this place because red-tape HR bureaucrats recommended it to me.  I think just being in the same room as HR people impedes good judgment.  They are the rats of the office world.  All the cool office kids went to River's Reach - all the office cougars went to Paddlewheeler.

With $5 pound-o-wing specials on certain days, that's even more reason to visit the awesome patio.  Remember, waterfronts are the places to do business.  Not that I would ever suggest harming my old co-workers in HR - but wrapping chains around a body will prevent floating... just saying, is all...

I've been coming to Paddlewheeler for a couple of years now.  The patio is great in the summer because it's breezy enough that you may feel a little chilly. But they've got beer to warm you up!

The food is okay--just your average pub fare.  And it's not the most amazingly decorated pub in the world, but service is on point. And you really can't beat the location. Plus, the prices are pretty decent.

I've only been to the Paddlewheeler a handful of times since moving to New West, mainly for Music Bingo on Tuesday nights, but I'm definitely a fan of this waterfront pub. Not for the food or the decor, which is endearingly dated, but for the friendly atmosphere. The servers are a wonderful crew, and it's just the sort of place where you can easily strike up a conversation with people at the next table.

The patio is huge, and it's a great spot to hang out on summer afternoons, as there are often bands playing and festivals on the boardwalk right outside. And if not, it's still great for people watching and seeing tugboats going by on the river.

The Paddlewheeler has an excellent location at the New West Market and a very big patio. Overall it's a decent pub, and if it's a sunny day in New West it's probably the best pub.

Service was good and friendly. I ordered the sangria special and it was a bit disappointing. The caesars are better. Food portions are very large (two of us ordered the nachos and could barely make it through half).

The prices are good. I'd love to go back for music bingo (sounds cheesy and amazing).

What a cool place! Good food, fun times and friendly service. I can't remember the last time I ventured out to New West but this place being close to the Skytrain station and Tuesday night music trivia bingo calling my name, how could I resist?

The trivia consists of the trivia-master playing excerpts from various songs and you fill out your bingo card as the songs on the card are played. Don't worry if your music knowledge isn't particularly varied, they deliberately play the portion of the song with the title in it so you can usually figure out what it is, even if you've never heard it before.

My food was also great - I had the chicken souvlaki with Greek salad, potatoes and rice pilaf. My rice pilaf was a bit dried out, but everything else was very tasty. Also our server was kind enough to bring me carrot sticks to dip in the tzaziki sauce instead of the bread.

All the staff were very friendly and the prices are reasonable. I'm looking forward to going back sometime during the summer months when I can enjoy the true feature of this pub - the patio outside right on the river.

you can smoke on the patio!! i had my first cigarette in over ten months because of that. maybe because it's not in vancouver that this was allowed...? if that's the case, then it's probably a good thing i don't live in new west.

the patio was lovely, great view of the water, and it was heated nicely. the jalepeno poppers were delicious, along with the onion rings. pub food is always a million times better when it's from a small, local bar vs. some huge chain.

there were $3.75 budwiser specials because there was a lions game on that day, which was spectacular. and yes, i was talking about the drink special - i couldn't really care less about football.

Lord have mercy if this is a 3.5 star dining experience in CA then no wonder us Americans are fat as hell.  We stayed at the Inn @ The Quay for a long weekend and that was the first mistake.  Clearly this place capitalizes big time on it's location (excellent) and tourists looking for a quick bite next door.  The service was great, large patio as mentioned, great location but the food...my god. Literally some of the most pathetic organic material I have ever consumed.  We ordered a $10 quesadilla as an app and it was terrible.  Something that could have been done at home in the microwave. The salads?  Pre-packaged Dole salad mix.  No question.  I ordered the bison burger and it tasted eerily reminiscent to the McRib from McDonalds.  Please save your money and go get some subway down the street.  We agreed we both would have enjoyed that more.

The Paddlewheeler Pub starts off with great expectations and then leaves you wallowing in the sludge at the bottom of the paddle.  Not to say that it's the worst place I've ever been, but the potential it has never lives up to the reality it is.  In most respects location is everything, not true for this pub.   The menu in the winter is actually not bad .. there is some good entree's, burgers, and a variety of things to choose from.  But then, for some inexplicable reason, spring comes along and the menu gets drastically reduced to about 12 burgers and a few salads.  Very disappointing if you are going there for dinner rather than lunch.  The food is usually ok.  Not great, not good, just ok.  The staff have their good days and their bad days and it's never consistent.  One day you can go in and have the most amazing experience because of the person who served you, then literally the next day it will be a horrendous experience that leaves you wanting to be the one deep fried and not the dried out chicken wings.

Now....all of THAT being said.  When the sun is out and a live band is playing on the boardwalk out front and all you want is basic pub fare and a cold drink ... Paddlewheeler Pub can deliver.

The Paddlewheeler is right on the quay on the banks of the Fraser Ocean. Well, the Fraser River, but who cares about geography. It's a neighborhood pub dab smack in the middle of New West and it has some great qualities. They have a patio that is the largest in New West and it's right on the river. They have a great kitchen and food specials change daily. Every Tuesday night they play Music Bingo. It's like name that tune, only better! They give away great prizes, like dinner for two or Canuck tickets.  The thing I like the most is the fact that the servers are so nice, and Mike the bartender is a really cool guy.
