Who says you have to go to the Fraser Valley for a wine tasting? The folks at Pacific Breeze are always happy to chat with you about their offerings, and are so passionate about what they do. I often stop by with friends or guests on a weekend for a spontaneous tasting, and leave with a couple of bottles. I'm always happy to pay a few dollars more than I might otherwise spend in a liquor store, knowing that I'm supporting an innovative local business that so focused on quality.

Their wines are delicious - I'm a big fan of the Killer Cab and their late harvest Riesling is like molten honey in a bottle. I joined the wine club and it's a great deal. Lots of perks and special events, including a custom wine tasting for you and up to 9 of your friends for free. SO much fun.

You probably wouldn't just stumble upon this "garage" winery, but it's a great find. It's just off Stewardson Way in New West, tucked in behind an ICBC claims centre and some autobody shops. (It's also very convenient to the BC Parkway bike trail, if you happen to get thirsty as you're riding along.)

Look for a little sign just by a chain link fence and you'll find yourself in a small but cheerful wine shop/tasting room. I walked in one sunny afternoon and found myself being plied with a variety of samples of their wines, including a sweet, full-bodied Syrah, a powerhouse Cab Sauv, and a delicious citrusy Sauvignon Blanc with some bod.

The owners bring in the grapes from vineyards from California and Washington and make the wine on site, specializing in small lots. I admit, I was afflicted with estate vineyard wine snobbery before, but I see a lot of business sense in focusing on the grapes and the winemaking process, without going to the time and expense of  growing, too.

They happened to be bottling that Sauvignon Blanc the day I tasted it, so I immediately pre-ordered a couple of bottles for pickup later. Mmm mmm - this Pacific Breeze makes a very fine white wine for this girl's summer.

We've been club members here for over a year, and have attended most of their special events. Their wines are first class, well worth a tasting trip, and you may join up too!

I am a wine fanatic and wasn't this a great find in New Westminster.  Who would have thought that great wine would come from a garage!!!  It's within walking distance for me but for anyone driving it's just off Stewardson Way and 3rd ave (i think it's ave anyway lol).  You can't miss the pretty little signs directing you to wine mecca!
