OK parts of the review are R rated but I'll keep it clean.

I am honestly at a loss for words reviewing this place. I spent a few days in Winnipeg for work this week and there wasn't much near the hotel I was staying at or the building where I was teaching class. I got out early my last day and asked the hotel to point me in the direction of some decent local pubs.

I was walking down Osborne street as suggested and there were bars here and there but since it's a college area and it was Friday, I zoomed past a good number of decent looking bars.

I had pretty much given up and was walking back to the hotel when I saw a handful of bikers and what appeared to be the locals going into Ozzy's. I asked one of the guys outside how the bar was and he said that it was his go to bar.

I decided to stop in and was directed to the basement where the bar is located.

I started walking down there stairs where it got darker and darker almost haunted house dark and was pleased to find a "dive bar" that I would be proud to frequent in Detroit. Everything was painted black and I couldn't tell if it was Goth or if it was created as a tribute to the prince of darkness. As I was walking up to the bar to get a beer I noticed several casino slots in the bar with people playing like crazy. I got my beer and headed over to one and the guy playing next to me said it is legal and the games pay out. I was having fun playing my nickel slot when a waitress walked over to offer another beer. She couldn't have been more pleasant (very cute as well). I asked her what kind of bar this was and she said "HELL" and laughed. She then said its just a great local bar and I was lucky to stumble on it.

I had a few more beers and got ready to head back to the hotel and she said "where you are going its T&A night from 5-8." OK not sure what that means but I'll bite.

She told me to go sit over at one of the pub tables and she'd get me another beer and I'd see. all of the sudden a stripper walks in-This baffled me since this was regular bar. So bar, gambling, and strippers oh my! There were 3 girls they danced 3 songs each on a stage and left. Solely stage performance nothing crazier. Its not a brothel or a strip club. To be honest it seems to be a regular thing because nobody really cared they were dancing.

Maybe it was the beers but I was very confused for a big chunk of the night. As I walked to the bathroom the guy that I'd been talking to at the slot earlier invited me to come over and have a beer with him and his buddies. They were all Vietnam veterans and had some really great stories.

after, I started talking to another couple who insisted we do a mini pub so they could show me their city a bit.

Travelling solo for work usually means nothing to crazy but I have to say I'm really glad I ventured out. Winnipeg is a pretty damn fun city and the people are pretty cool.
