Review from Linda L.
So - our last day of tournament. Our last night in Canada. Where to go and what to do? BBQ! Hmmmmmm..... Can we find an authentic Southern BBQ place in Canada? (I don't know........)
Well, um - yeah.
My original choice was the pulled pork but, alas, they were already out. So then the toss-up came down to the brisket or the spareribs.
I'm a former Texan. I know brisket. It takes skill to get brisket succulent and moist. Tender and juicy. It's dicey even here in the states.
I went for the spareribs. Garlic mashed potatoes my side.
Daughter went for the babybacks. Garlic mashed potatoes her side.
The ribs were good. Wonderfully cooked. Almost fall-off-the-bone (which is better than fall-off-the-bone, you want some bite).
The garlic mashed potatoes were, well, a bit past their prime (it was late in the evening).
The side of beans awesome!
Jalapeno corn bread a bit dry.
Side of fried pickles. (Ooops, parden my English - 'pickels'). These were spears that had been breaded and deep fried. Quite good. Very much like some places in the South USA.
So...... the owner may have been a bit disappointed that I didn't order the brisket and so she sent over a slice on a plate. OMFG! If that had been offered to me prior to ordering my spareribs, the ribs would not have stood a chance. Are you kidding me? I'm getting authentic Texas brisket in Canada? Wow - that slice of brisket was so freakin good. (In addition to my burgers, I'm known for throwing Texas Smoke BBQ's during the summer - that brisket was better than mine!)
For awhile, we were the only table, so our server Sean visited with us and we exchanged international stories.
Ozarks was a good find in this little gritty up-and-coming hamlet in southwest Canada.
Near the intersection of Langley Bypass and Fraser Hwy. Parking is plentiful. Good BBQ atmosphere. Go for the meats and skip filling up on the sides - it's all about the meat! -

I went to ozarks for dinner on a Friday night. This location has eaten up many a restaurant before. I was very worried how quiet it was when I arrived.
The service was not impeccable, but then again there was only one server on our half of the large restaurant who also happened to be the hostess as well. My expectations got lower and lower. I ordered the pulled brisket sandwich.
The food came out and sweet Jesus it was good. The award winning BBQ sauce was unreal as well as the fresh cut fries that are seasoned with BBQ rub. It was so simple yet so tasty. To top it off it was only 10 bucks. Next time I go I will try the ribs as they look amazing. I hope this place gets busier because I will be sad if they close. -

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. I love the St Louis Side Ribs and my wife loves the pulled pork. The fries are great as well.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Langley, its been a long time since something has worked in the old Smittys location but I think finally Ozarks can be the winning restaurant.
The portions, food and staff are excellent. Many of the restaurants in Langley have a terrible wait staff this is definitely not one of them. I would recommend Ozarks to anyone and usually do. -

I am not satisfied. I was bitterly disappointed with the pulled pork sammich. I was expecting something sloppy with pig soaking in some delicious BBQ sauce. When it came before me it was something a Yankee would make. A Yankeefied pulled pork sammich.
I have had better BBQ up the road at Memphis Blues BBQ House.
I did also order the chilli. Prolly the only good thing I ate. Maybe they should consider 'em selves a chillihouse instead? -

When I order a pulled pork sandwich, I imagine a 300 pound barbeque master in the kitchen leaning over a smoke pit slathering a pile of juicy meat onto a high quality bun and then he smiles down on this big messy plate of southern charm while he adds a big scoop of home made coleslaw on the side.
When I got my meal, the bubble burst and now I am pretty sure a 120 pound skinny assed litttle white accountant made my restrained, distinctly not charming meal and sent it out hoping to make as much money as possible with the least quality.
Cheap yucky white bun, DRY barely there pulled pork, decent fries and safeway bucket-o-slaw.
This is not southern BBQ. My friend ordered ribs, they were not as chintzy, and she said they were tasty, but she is the nicest person in the world and wouldn't say crap (I have no idea why she hangs with me)
Wait for whatever this building will be next, because as long as the little bean counter is running the smoke house, you won't get a good meal. -

Good - not great.
Had a lunch rib sampler. Was a little meager and dry.
Will have to give it another try with a real meal judging by the reviews. -

I am always looking for something different for the family and friends on the weekend, and a decent bbq joint is hard to pass. When we arrived in the early afternoon on a Saturday it was a little odd to see the restaurant nearly empty. Oh well, at least we'll get served quickly,
Or not. Service was slow. It wasn't rude, it just took way too long for each little thing to happen. All said and done, it took almost 2 hours for lunch for a group of 7 people.
We came for bbq, and the food was good. The ribs were nicely done and the sauce was rich and tangy. The brisket could have used a little longer to get the perfect charring on it, but the flavour was excellent. The kitchen was feeling generous, so we got a few extra ribs on the plate (or so our server told us). My son had a burger, which was also a little smokey. He liked it too much to let me have a taste, so I'll might go back another time just to try it.
It was a good lunch, but the mediocre service and little mistakes make it tough to go back. It's not a cheap lunch; so I am a little less forgiving. For example, the pop mix was off so the drinks had no carbonation. The back of the bench seat was broken and too loose to lean against. And the slow service just can't be excused, no matter how polite it was.
As others have mentioned, this location hasn't been kind to other restaurants. If Ozarks doesn't take it seriously, we'll likely see another place move in soon. -

Came here for the beans, so that's all I will comment on - it's been too long for me to really remember much else.
I was VERY disappointed with their beans after coming out from the Vancouver area to try them. The beans at Memphis Blues are far better, and even their (Memphis Blues) beans were not great.
As to the rest of the menu, service, etc, I can't comment. But if it's beans you want, drive a few miles over to Memphis Blues, 'cause the ones here are gross! -

Pretty decent BBQ restaurant. Had seen that this restaurant had opened a couple of months ago and have been meaning to go check it out. Finally went this weekend. We were a little worried when we first went in as it was not very busy. It is a very clean looking restaurant but feels a little bit too open.
Service was prompt but lacking in friendliness. I can't complain about it but it felt very blah. Food came out and was very tasty and large portions. You can tell that the BBQ is really smoked as the meat had that tint of pink that comes with well smoked meat. The sides were plentiful as well. All main courses come with 3 sides that were all very tasty.
Will definitely go back. -

Awesome BBQ!!! I love meat .... Ozarks delivers.
Their 6 bone beef ribs are huge and awesome!!!!!!!!! and the pulled pork sandwich is a must try.
a big group of friends and I went there once and all ordered the 6 beef ribs. We cleaned them out :) We had a little game that no one could wipe their hands or mouth before finishing... We were a mess (not the best manners I know, but the place is laid back and it was fun) -

This restaurant sucks, their service is really bad and there're flies in the kitchen everywhere. The manager is very irresponsible and would not change our food even though there was a dead fly in it. Don't ever go there.

I have now been to Ozark's twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The first time I had the Brisket dinner and it was very good, so were all the "fixins", however, the time I had the lunch, I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was, ok, not bad but not great either. I do think the place has a great decor and is very clean, so, I recommend it, but, I think I would lean more towards the dinners than the sandwiches!
