I took my wife and adopted daughter to the Outback in the West End late this afternoon, for my wife's birthday.
The waiter was excellent, and even found humour in my sense of humour. He was cordial, prompt, and did his job really well.
My wife ordered the 10 oz prime rib, medium rare. She absolutely loved it, and it was cooked perfectly. She also had the vegetables (broccoli, carrots and snow peas) which were cooked perfectly. And she had a baked potato (loaded) which she finished too.
My adopted daughter had the sirloin steak sandwich. She devoured it and wanted more. It came with fries, which she didn't finish, but she mentioned the fries did taste good.
I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs. I wish I ordered a full rack, as they were decadent. The meat literally fell off the bones, so there was very little picking up the bones to get that last bit of meat. The sauce they use was really good, not too spicy and not too sweet.
The waiter also brought out a free dessert for my wife, with 3 spoons so we could share. I forget what it was called, but was Thunder something. Extremely yummy was my wife's exact words.
This was our first visit to this location of the Outback, and we will definitely return, in the near future. -

I've got to say that being a Vacouverite I'm not subjected to the Outback chain - and I haven't been here in few years since I left the states.
I basically left it up to my friend to choose a place to eat and he chose the Outback. It's really nothing special.
The heartattack on a plate - Bloomin Onion is good - to an extent. And the steaks are a notch below the Keg, which is a notch below a GREAT steak. Everything was just too salty.
That said, portion wise things are fair, the service was above average, and it wasn't busy so we weren't hurried. I would only go back if a friend INSISTED on going back to the Outback. -

Took hubby, Gramma, and the toddler to Outback today for an early Father's Day lunch. I had made reservations for 1130am - they are running a promotion today where Father's Eat Free.
My husband ordered the Tuscan Cream Covered Chicken - description from menu: Seasoned chicken breast covered in a rich and creamy sauce, topped with sundried tomatoes, served a top a heaping portion of garlic mashed potatoes and accompanied by a side of fresh seasonal veggies.
My husband quite liked his entree and said he would order it again. I thought his sauce was nice and even dipped my broccoli in it!
I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Taco - description from menu: Two flour tortillas stuffed with seasoned blackened shrimp with melted cheese, cabbage, carrots, grilled onions, red bell peppers and Asian chili mayo.
Unfortunately - the shrimp taco had little to no flavor at all - in fact, the only thing I could really taste was the abundance of mayo.
Gramma ordered Garlic Salmon Fettuccini - description from menu:
Sautéed salmon, lightly seasoned and tossed with olive oil, garlic,
fettuccini and parsley.
The entree came with about half the salmon that was showed in the picture and the garlic was really overwhelming! We love garlic - but this was too much!
For my toddler, I ordered the Kookaburra Chicken Fingers with steamed vegetables as a side. The entree came with three small chicken fingers - more batter than chicken unfortunately :-( The side of veggies was delicious - cooked perfectly and my daughter gobbled them up! The children's meal do not include beverages which I find disappointing as my toddler would only consume 1/2 a cup of milk at best.
The restaurant itself had been completely renovated from the last time I had been there over a year ago and was really quite modern and attractive.
Our server Tina, was polite and cheerful when at our table, but hard to find. Our beverages were never refilled - I waited over 10 minutes for her to pick up my payment to bring me back change - and another 10 minutes for change which was delivered by a boy (not our server) who didn't say a word or look at us - just dropped our change off at our table and the table next to us and walked away. It wasn't really busy - I'd say the restaurant was at least half empty.
Overall - I give the Outback 3 stars today (if it weren't for the free father's day meal I would have only given 2 stars). Both Gramma and myself would not order our entrees again - my husband was the only one who enjoyed his entree.
None the less, our experience did not leave us wanting to return to this location based on service and lack of flavor/seasoning of our meals. -

Outback is one of those places that every time I pass by, I keep reminding myself how I keep meaning to go there. Finally, the opportunity arose. Armed with a two-for-one lunch entree coupon, I headed to this west end location with my dining companion. We had a friendly greeting, were promptly seated, and brought our drinks. I was surprised at how many drink specials they had so early in th afternoon. We stuck with non-alcoholic beverages: myself, a strawberry lemonade (sweet and satisfying) and him, a strawberry coconut smoothie (he liked it a lot).
The lunch menu has a variety of burgers, wraps, chicken dishes, and steaks. I opted for a grilled chicken platter with Aussie fries (which were really just normal, straight-cut fries) while he had a 6 ounce steak with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was done perfectly to order. The potatoes were a bit too garlicky for my taste, but he liked them a lot.
My chicken was a larger portion than I expected, with lots of crispy fried. The chicken was moist and infused with rosemary and thyme. We ordered an add-on of burgundy mushrooms, which was plenty for two people to share, and tasted strongly of the wine sauce in which they sat.
The dinner menu is pretty much like the lunch one, except the portions are larger and prices are higher. Outback is also known for its appetizers, like the Bloomin' Onion and Bushman mushrooms. I'd like to come here during Happy Hour just to give those a try.
Our experience at Outback was an overall pleasant one - good food, good atmosphere, and good service. -

Always excellent food. I usually order the prime rib as it melts in my mouth. The new fish and chips entree is crispy and flavorful. Definitely worth trying.
