It should be noted that this is the first upscale restaurant and nightclub catering to the LGBT community in Durham Region, which is pretty exciting.. They have only been open a few days at this point, and they have some wrinkles to iron out, but I think this place is going to be outstanding.
It's decorated really comfortably, with a bar area, tables surrounding a dance floor, and a lounge with a pool table and leather couches. We were there on opening night, so my review my not be valid for all situations.
It took a very long time to get a table, because the place was pretty packed. We waited at the bar in the meantime and tried several items on the martini menu. I particularly enjoyed the Laroo-tini, which seems to be named after one of the owners.
The menu isn't terribly complicated, but there are options for most tastes, including vegan. For dinner, I had steak with garlic mashed, and fresh vegetables. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, although my steak was a little overdone. No big complaints with that, though, because it was pretty tasty, and the place was packed to the rafters.
My partner had spinach ravioli, which he polished off pretty quickly. He liked it a lot, although he said it could have used another minute or two in the boiling water. My friend had a burger with all the fixings, which looked delicious. I had a few of his fries, which were pretty darn good.
All-in-all, I was really impressed with the friendliness of all the staff, and their willingness to make their customers happy.
I look forward to taking my kids there for their Sunday breakfast!
