Although we were the only patrons in the restraurant, celebrating our anniversary, it was a very enjoyable meal and evening. The service and food was excellent :-)
    Will be definitely returning!!

Fun way to eat! Staff are nice. Food is ok. I think it is a bit overpriced for what you get. The restaurant itself felt a bit crammed and cluttered.

At the end of the day, i would return.

If you like meat, this is a great group-dining place to go.  Your table is seated in a U-shape around a flat rectangular frying pan.  The chef then makes your dish right in front of you, sometimes doing tricks with his knife and the fire.  For example, he'll cut an onion into rings, stack them on top of each other, pour oil over the whole thing and light it on fire so a massive flame appears.  Or your chef cut things up into little pieces and catch them in his (clean) hat - it really depends on which chef you get.

Because Osaka is outside of downtown, Vancouver, it's a bit more affordable than comparable restaurants (like Kobe Steak House on Alberni).

Expect to smell a bit meaty after this experience, dont' wear clothes that absorb scents easily.

WOW! Teppanyaki is amazing! The food is fresh, simple and oh so delicious, and it's cooked right in front of you with many acrobatic feats! It's awesome.

This is probably my fifth time coming to this restaurant and I've never been disappointed once. You are seated around a U shaped table with a grill in the middle. It's almost like having your own personal chef/ entertainer for a couple of hours. Not only do they cook up and serve up some awesome tasting food, they give you a show as well. The chefs do tricks with their knives, tools, fire, the food and their hats.  Some of them are pretty good comedians as well.

I really like the seating arrangement of this place because it's very intimate, it invites conversation not only within your own party, but also with random strangers. Of every time that I've come here, I don't think there was one instance where I or someone in my family hadn't started a conversation with a stranger sitting at our U-shaped table.

For my meal, I ordered the Osaka Special, which came with chicken, steak, teppan shrimp, scallops, lobster, veggies and I also ordered a side of shiitake mushrooms.  The Osaka special is basically the option that allows you to try everything. I was seriously stuffed by the end of the meal and that's saying something. If you know me, you know that I love to eat and can probably out eat someone who is twice my size. Every part of the meal was so good. The steak was juicy and grilled perfectly, the chicken was tender and not dry, the sea food was grilled to perfection and mouth watering and the veggies were crisp and fresh. They serve these two dipping sauces, which I can only describe as some kind of mustardy, vinegar sauce. One is for the seafood and one is for the terrestrial food, but I don't like to discriminate, I dip where I like with what I like lol.

Food should always be fun in some way, this place makes food super fun!

Tip* It's usually insanely busy for the dinner slot, so make sure you call to reserve a spot in advance.

There is a great coupon for Osaka Teppanyaki in the Entertainment Book. For 2 years in a row, this is the place that the boyfriend made sure the coupon was used before the expiration date.

The experience is like watching the Food Network, sans commercials. My favourite part is the big ball of fire. It's comparable to watching the fireworks. I don't need the artistic emotional interpretative mellow slow stuff, just give me BIG BIG BOOM BOOM non-stop for a couple minutes (lol)!! So yeah, I'm an adult child and want more fire tricks. But I digress... :)

The setting is intimate. You can easily strike up conversations with other people at your table. The chefs are always entertaining and interacts with customers. If you bring a date, the restaurant already gives you a conversation topic (hey, why not talk about that big ball of fire! :P).

The food comes in set meals, with your choice of the protein. There is also a vegetarian option. You get salad and soup to start, and your main will come with a bowl of rice, a couple of shrimps, and lots of vegetables (mushroom, onion, pepper, bean sprouts). I had the New York steak. It's cooked perfectly medium rare. Everything was nicely seasoned. Their tangy gingery dipping sauce (for seafood and vegetable) is just divine, I even dip the steak in it! (Why be bound to rules?!). My plate was piled high with a continuous stream of hot food. Some chefs are also very considerate and will give you extra food if your plate goes empty, i.e. you ate too quickly. I was stuffed at the end!

Teppanyaki is definitely an experience that's more than just the food, and Osaka delivers. Don't expect to get foodgasm here, it's more about the show.

Where do I start??  I love this place!!!  If you haven't gone here yet, you should definitely give it a try.  Whenever I go there, I usually get a the steak and chicken combo and upgrade my steak to a filet mignon.  Definitely worth the extra few dollars to do that.  You get lots of food so make sure you are hungry!  Oh and don't forget to get the fried rice.  Its to diiieeeeeeee for!!!!!  After eating Osaka's fried rice, I can't have any other fried rices.  I just cant!

5 of us went for dinner.  3 got the seafood combo, 2 got the chicken and steak dinner.  The 3 of us that got the seafood all got sick.  The 2 that got the chicken and steak dinner were fine.  Yep, we got food poisoning.  Since all three of us got sick at the same time right after leaving Osaka, and we had the same meal, it is pretty obvious we got the bug from the seafood prepared at this restaurant.

Our Chef was awesome though...  and the food was actually quite good.  I suppose the chefs need to do a better job in the back preparing the food.  It was not fun staying up all night with violent diarrhea...

    This place is amazing!

The food is great, I especially love their Teppan Shrimp.  They are so delicious!  The chefs are entertaining and very funny.  I absolutely love their ginger sauce that they provide.  Yumm!

The place has a nice relaxed atmosphere.  For the weekend, I definately recommend getting a reservation!

LOVE Osaka.  Especially if I am craving some good ol' teppanyaki!

I love how everything is cooked fresh (obvsiouly) and the quality!  I usually order the chicken teriyaki, love will order filet mignon or steak+chicken combo, a side of prawns and a side of their famous fried rice.

At first when they cook everything, you think that you might not have ordered enough..but believe me..IT'S MORE THAN ENOUGH!  I love the side sauces they give (especially the ginger? sauce).  MMM.

Chicken is always tender and juicy.  Love's steaks are always really good and cooked to the right consistency that it's never too tough or dry.  I would however, order 2 orders of prawns.  I made the mistake of ordering just one order between the 2 of us..and it was definitely a fight over the last one.

The fried rice goes nicely with the dishes and 1 order is enough for 2 people in my opinion.

Service is quick and attentive but I can find the resto a bit cold when you first walk in.  HOwever, that all changes when the cooking (and show) begins!  Price CAN be pricey but if you use your entertainment card it helps!

    LOve LOVe LOVE this place!

and here are the reasons why this place is loved (probably the same reason why it can be hated too....)

1- the crowds that are drawn here are loud and rowdy and always having a freakin great time

2- they blast the music on the weekend late nights and its usually always good

3- all the chefs find some way to either make fun of you, embarrass you or entertain you so that you forgive all the coy remarks

4- the smell is AMAZING while theyre cooking....(it just REEKS on your clothes, hair and skin when you leave!!! aaaahhh!!)

5- amazing bartender (only 1 lady usually tending to the entire restaurant!?? i give her props!)

theyre usually SUPER BUSY on weekends...so make sure you make reservations!  if you happen to forget, they WILL turn you away! although..ive also seen them try real hard to accomodate walk-ins when they could.

    BEST items:
Filet mignon ... melted like butter in my mouth
Salmon teriyaki ... sauce is made right on the grill and then drizzled all over that salmon....heavenly..
tigerprawns ... the BEST ive ever tasted... juicy big pieces of tiger shrimp from thailand... yumyumyum
fried rice ... ok, i dont know what it is about their fried rice here...it is out of this world.  egg, minced garlic, japanese mushroom, carrots & onion with rice.  (when you order this, it comes in a bigger bowl than the steamed rice...but id advise you to get your OWN! cuz i always regret sharing mine!!)

if only i could figure out how i can come here and not leave smelling like restaurant?!?!!!!

The atmosphere. That's what really stood out to me, and not in a good way.

Maybe it's because it was a Friday night or maybe it's because of the music that they were playing, but this was not your typical teppanyaki place. It seemed as though you could take away the tables and add some flashing lights and it would be a club. Despite the unattractive atmosphere, our chef was not too skilled, but he made up for it by being very comedic. The food was great though and not too expensive for being teppanyaki. My date said that his teriyaki chicken was the best he's ever had. If I'm craving teppanyaki, I'll come here, but I won't be taking anyone here anytime soon.

Went here for my birthday a couple of years ago! Much more downplayed restaurant than the Kobe Japanese Steak house on Alberni and it is reflected in the price also. It is pretty easily located at West Broadway and Burrard and they take both walk-ins and reservations. A much smaller restaurant, they have about 4 or 5 chef cooking stations. I am a sucker for these kind of places. I am just enthralled watching those shrimp tails get cut off and land in the chefs hat. You start out with a small shrimp appetizer and get a small bowl of steamed rice on the side along with a salad. The sauces for dipping the meat are awesome, especially the ginger and mustard.
You can choose from teriyaki chicken which is my favourite or a New York steak, or a combo or even a Lobster tail on the side.
The chef puts on a magic show of sorts and works wonders with a sharp knife, pulsing lights and salt/pepper tricks. It is pretty fascinating, but usually I am just waiting for that succulent meat.
Amazingly enough the chef knows exactly who ordered what and it is gingerly placed on your plate and Bon Appetite!
Awesome experience, great food, pretty good prices in comparison to downtown, at least a 6 to 7$ difference on most dishes.
Go, you will love it, guaranteed!

My favorite restaurant in Vancouver. Been going here for years now and every visit seems to be better than the last. The owners are hands on, I usually request Rolin to cook for us. Every meal comes with soup and salad, veggies and your choice of meat/chicken/seafood. 5 stars
