I've been meaning to write a review for this neighbourhood joint for...years.
This spot has been my go-to spot for quality Japanese food at affordable prices.
The food has always been fresh, generous portioned and deliciously prepared. You cannot go wrong with the Sushi and Sashimi Box C for lunch and dinner, at a steal of $11.50 and $14.50 respectively. You get 4 pieces of Sushi, 3 pieces of Tuna and 3 pieces of Salmon sashimi, California roll, prawn and vegetable tempura, deep-fried chicken karage, salad and miso soup. Sounds not bad heh?
I usually top it off with the following:
- Agedashi Tofu, lightly coated and deep fried, comes submerged in sauce
- Negitoro roll, good balance of tuna to green onion ratio
- Volcano roll, chopped scallop roll topped with diced spicy tuna (yum)
You can easily share this with 2 people and be satiated at the end.
Just a note that you are really here for the food and not so much for the simple table and crowded space. You can expect excellent service from the waitresses, who are all very friendly, efficient, and ensures that your tea is always filled.
This is a place that I'll come back again and again. -

Osaka doesn't seem to be all that inviting from the outside. It just happens to be right near one of my other favourite little places on Blundell so we decided to check it out.
The service is pretty slow. I wouldn't choose to come here if you are in a hurry. I think there might have been one server and she was consistently helping the kitchen. It seems to be a little understaffed but they are friendly. The atmosphere is nice and there is ample seating.
The food is great. The sushi and sashimi are good quality and fresh. The portion sizes are great. Overall I am happy we decided to come in and see what they have to offer. We will come again. -

Based on the last couple of good reviews, I checked this place out. Its a bit out of the way for me, being in one of those anonymous corner strip malls that dot Richmond every few blocks. Staff were courteous and decor was alright.
I ordered the Sushi/Sashimi dinner box (probably my main mistake right there) because I thought it sounded like a good deal. The meal got sent out quite quickly. The Tuna and Salmon sashimi were generously portioned and fresh. I think the restaurant must do most of their business with their tuna and salmon. The prawn nigiri was pretty awful, the prawn tasted old and overcooked. The so-called california roll also looked like it had been made several hours ago and left there. The color was just off. freshly rolled imitation crab meat and mayo should look glistening and bright. The sesame seeds should look like they had just been scattered on. This looked like the mayo had already dried up against the imitation crab, and the sesame seeds looked like it was carpet rolled onto the rice.
This is a neighborhood joint for locals who didn't really want to bother cooking and don't want to drive slightly further off towards Golden Village where truly amazing sushi resides. Its not bad, but its not great. -

Osaka is a great place to eat. It was my first time but staff were very friendly. Some people may look at the kitchen staff as very quiet and unwelcoming, but I could see that they are very friendly people who are concerned about the food.
I ordered some nigiri which was great. They include wasabi inside the fish so if you don't like it, request for them to take it out. They're very good with accommodating your wishes. I also ordered one of the special makis. One spider roll and one Las Vegas rolls. Did I mention they have cute names for their sushi?
The Spider roll wasn't my favourite, it was a little on the bland side, but the Las Vegas roll wins my vote. It was delicious! It's fried so make sure that your heart can handle it.
Overall, great food, great service, fresh atmosphere. Would come again! -

3.5 stars. This place is actually a pretty solid place to eat. Since I'm trying to stay away from rice and sushi, I come here for their salads.
This time I had the chicken Karage and the Tuna Tataki salads. Both good and fresh and there was not a rotten leaf in the salad. They wisely chose to use Romain lettuce which holds up better in a warm salad or a salad with warm toppings.
My friends Miso ramen took some time to arrive, but once she got it she was pretty happy. She rated this quite high and thought it was better than most in Vancouver. Interesting!
I find this place a good alternative to the sushi for me and sushi or ramen for my friends. Yes Charlie Browne. you can have both.Listed in: Ramen shops worth trying out

my husband and i ordered tuna, salmon, red snapper, prawn nigiri, a bc roll, spider roll, and the las vegas roll. my husband really enjoyed his pieces. i only had the tuna, which was fresh, delicious perfection, in addition to the las vegas roll- a deep-fried masterpiece with just the right balance of ingredients, and not disproportionately RICE(eatery). everything was beautifully presented, the prices were very reasonable, and the service was fast and friendly. the generous piles of ginger were delicious, too! we will definitely be back!
