Review from Estella P.
This store is everything I could ever want in an asian grocery. Tropical fruits you cannot get fresh here in Seattle, such as jackfruit, calamansi, guava, atis, lonsones, managosteen and a bunch more. Seafood and cuts of meats you only see in an asian store, a bakery with delicious asian pastries and their awesome deli. Their deli has readily prepared asian foods, dim sum and a large selection of sushi/sashimi. I could spend hours in this store just to go down each aisle to see what they have. This is a must stop place for me before I go back home.
Parking can be a bummer but it is so worth it. -
Review from Ninette C.
Ok this place has a great variety of foods, but everything is soooo expensive. $10 for a lb of fish balls!? $23 for a lb of prawns?! Are you kidding me??
I like that they do demos here and also sell Japanese cosmetics. -
Review from Larry L.
On this last trip to the Osaka supermarket, I was trying to find Ham Yee, or salted stinky fish. We had about three people try to find it for me, but couldn't. Finaly one person was able to help us, but they didn't haven any.
The place was super busy just days before Christmas.
Now, if you are looking for a TNT, this is also a TNT. There is also a TNT in a neighbouring mall just a walk away.
Good luck finidng parking.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Where else can you find exotic fruits like mangosteens, fresh durians, and other exotic fruits that I have no idea what they are. I go there and buy unfamiliar foods to try. I love their delicious bakery section as well. I just wish other chain stores would stop stocking what other stores already have and be a leader and stock things that others do NOT have.

Osaka is your one-stop shop for fresh produce, seafood, and packaged goods. There is also a nice selection of baked Asian buns, cooked steam tray counter, sushi, prepackaged precooked meals, and more. And if you're looking for a few ways to save on tax, if you buy 6 or more buns, you can save on HST. The Asian buns are pretty fresh and on-par with more famous bakeries.

Love the bakery. I always buy 5-6 pineapple buns and the shredded pork buns to take back to Seattle. Super yummy and usually very crowded but you can get by. It's also cool that they have those baskets where you can pull them around like a luggage. That's really convenient and pretty Asian, I'd say. But anyway, the bakery here is worth a visit. You can get amazingly delicious and authentic buns for about a buck. No joke.

This is a go to place to buy groceries. The selection is amazing. The prices are great. The produce is normally really fresh. The seafood selection is my favourite. I haven't had any problems finding any types of Asian groceries that I have been looking for. That's a big plus.
It reminds me of a nicer version of T&T....albeit a little cozier due to it being a bit smaller. -
Review from Sachi M.
This location used to be Yaohan, a Japanese supermarket that also had stores in California. Hence the name of the mall.
But then Chinese T&T bought it (or so I've heard) and gave it a Japanese name. Go figure.
The politics haven't changed it for me -- this is still the place I can come to get Gyoza Wraps, Ponzu, Dashi-Konbu, Mentsuyu, and other important ingredients. My currently favourite specialty item here is the Pea Shoots (http://nankaisprouts.com). The taste is similar to those tiny sprouts like alfalfa, but are much bigger and therefore more filling.
I like getting the savoury buns and the square sliced bread. I treat myself to some mousse cake sometimes, too!
We always end up getting some prepared food, especially the Vietnamese Subs and Potato Salad and Takowasa.
I come to Osaka Supermarket when I need more than just an Asian supplement to my grocery shopping. I can get Everything I need here, except the Deli section of a Canadian grocery store (we don't go for the packaged 'ham' they carry in the milk aisle).
The parking can be problematic during the day and dinner hours (there is a huge food court inside the mall). If you don't want to come in the evening (they're open 'til 11), there is a small paid parking lot across Hazelbridge, at Cambie. For $1 per hour (or at least it was), it can save you a lot of stress and time, especially on weekends.
Oh! and the baskets are really cool. They roll with a long black handle. Makes it much less congested than if everybody had carts! -

There is just something else when doing grocery shopping here. This is not your regular grocery shopping experience, like Superstore or what not. Yes, T&T is an Asian grocery store, but, don't worry! T&T is clean! Their packaging and displays are so organized that it enhances the shopping experiences.
The best thing about T&T is that they have everything in one place! Here are some unique features of T&T. Most locations have:
a built in bakery that sells Asian goodies and cakes
a Dim Sum bar with freshly made congee (rice porridge)
a Hot Pot section with freshly made hot pot fish/tofu goodies
a Hot food section that sells freshly cooked Chinese food
a sushi bar (they also sell Vietnamese subs)
an Asian junk food isle (mostly Japanese junk food)
an isle with Asian cookware
an isle with Asian shampoo, body wash etc.
To be honest, if it was any cheaper I would shop here more often! -

OSAKA is amazing!!!
In the few days that I stayed in Richmond, my mom wanted to return everyday! Not only is it a supermarket, it also has it's own bakery and serve food. Like most places, they discount certain items after 7pm that they can't sell the next... so we got several stuff that was good to eat immediately.
Their shopping carts are the cutest! They reminded me of actually being in Japan because it was an oversized basket that you can carry or roll along! Maybe I am just easily amused but it was too cute! :) -

I agree with a lot of the reviewers that the selection and sheer volume of the inventory is exceptional.
I cook a variety of Asian foods, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese you name it I've probably tried it (I can't tell you if they were successful or not, but I tried!) Also, the prices are reasonable, which makes shopping on a student budget a little easier.
However, I have to say the pre-cooked food is always too salty and greasy. As a health-conscious person, I'd opt for a bowl of lettuce for something that is quick and easy as opposed to a troff of slippery noodles. Furthermore, the sushi is all right, but hello, don't call it sushi if it's a California roll (which is the majority of the sushi plates) imitation crab and I aren't, and will never be friends.
My biggest annoyance with this store is the people who shop there. They have no consideration for other people. They just leave the buggy or those stupid baskets with wheels in the middle of the aisle or they side swipe you with it. I was patient for a long while, but enough is enough. If you can't understand your personal space and my own I'll show you by kicking your wheelie-basket over or I'm going to take your buggy to another corner of the store for you to go find it!
Another thing, if I am looking at the same product as you and I say excuse me, please move aside; there is plenty of tofu in the refrigerated section they won't grow legs and walk away from you. God. -
Review from Ema N.
T&T has a lot of Chinese foods but some Japanese goods are also mixed in! This is great place to find Japanese hair dye (Palty brand amongst a few others like Venezel!) and Japanese hair straighteners for prices close to what it's sold for in Japan. There are also Mentholantum brand Japanese lipbalms as well.
Venezel hair straightener is impossible to find in the U.S. and it was a really nice surprise to find it in T&T for $19.00!
The bakery is huge and if you go online to the T&T website, you can find coupons to print out and weekly specials. I wish we had a T&T in Seattle, because Uwajimaya doesn't come close to having these great baked goods and Chinese tins of tasty goodies! -

Love it! Usually my last stop to stock up on Asian goodies before heading over to Vancouver island. The hot food prepared at the side of the store is awesome. Try the jap chae, the beef tripe and of course the dim sum! Delicious. The sushi is convenient and fairly good.
The fresh fish and butcher in store is awesome, especially when you go when they have sales on. The fish tofu is the best. Not so thrilled with the buns, but as a one stop shop, this place is awesome. Love this place =) -
Review from Emily M.
I fell in love with this supermarket as soon as I entered in. I went in two hours before closing time and saw many discounted items. I wanted to grab as much sushi as I could but avoided the temptation. The rolling carts were absolutely adorable too! Before departing Canada, I made about 5 trips to this place and always ended up with a smile as I leave. I will definitely come back to this supermarket someday.

I love this place. I love their bakery. The mango mousse cake here is to die for, my dad's favorite. The buns - the BUNS! I don't even know how to describe them - we only get the "pai bao" - they are oblong buns in a pack of 5 or 6? They are SO GOOD...so soft, so tasty - the plain one is awesome as is the raisin ones. They are just like HK or at least as I remember them. I always get a few packs to go just so there's actually something to take home.
Browsing the aisles and seeing all the various food and household items just bring back so many childhood memories. I wish I lived closer so I can visit more often to get my fixes. *SIGH* -

Actually, this IS the address for the T&T located in Yaohan - and it is awesome!
Coming from Seattle, where Uwajimaya is king and H Mart runs a distant 2nd, a place like T&T is pretty terrific.
Excellent, well priced bakery. We always stop on the way home & get tons of baked hum bao for the kids because we don't have access to this quality or type at home, especially in Tacoma. Great bread, egg tarts, red bean donuts, chinese donuts, etc, etc.
The deli section offers great stuff. I think their streamed bao is very good, especially for a grocery store (you can pick 6 for $7). Last visit, I finally understood they sell made to order Shanghaiese rice rolls - you pick from about 12 ingredients and they roll them on the spot for you - yum! Bundles of sticy rice. A small sushi section and a decent variety of onigiri.
Standard selection of grocery items. A surprising lack of variety in the ramen department. Nice produce section. -
Review from Judy L.
This T&T is small. Small awkward parking lot. Small hot foods section. No cold food or sushi here. No bakery.
I just felt that things were missing here. Then I went to Yaohan down the street and found everything else that was missing at this T&T. Luckily the T&T's in Vancouver proper are nicer! -
Review from Alice A.
Osaka Supermarket is basically the trendier sister of T&T Supermarket. The overall prices for this Osaka in Yaohan Centre are slightly higher than the T&T in President Plaza, a mere five-minutes walk away. Osaka does offer a much wider array of baked goods, from red bean pastries to cream birthday cakes. If an Asian bakery and take-out food is what you're going for, then Osaka is your preferred choice. Otherwise, I'd head over to T&T a stone's throw away for fresh and affordable produce, meats and seafood with an authentic bustling and cramped style that completes my oriental grocery shopping experience.

If it wasn't for the fact that I was only staying for a few nights, I would've bought so much stuff from here... I love supermarkets, but I hate them when I'm traveling... *sniff, sniff*

We always come by here before we head home to stock up on groceries. What do we get? Bakery buns, taro bread, raisin bread, ramen, snacks, dim sum, basically anything that catches our eye! We love wandering the aisles. This time we bought some of their frozen mochi balls- normally I make my own at home for my sweet dessert soup but these ones came in different flavors like red bean, taro, chestnut, sesame, and green bean and were super colorful. I can't wait to cook them up! You can also get delicous snacks like onion pancakes, potsticks, panfried buns, and ready-to-eat dimsum. It's pretty cheap too! 6 really big potsticks = $3.50. 2 big panfried buns filled with meat = $2.50. Oh- and don't forget you can get your sample on! Lots of little sample tables thoughout the store so nibble away!

This grocery store has the best grocery baskets you've ever seen in your life. It has wheels folks; you can actually roll your grocery basket without having to lift a finger. The picture I uploaded is worth a million words. WTH can't grocery stores in the US have these?!?! It would make my life so much easier if they had these at my local Albertsons or Safeway. Ok, enough about the grocery baskets, now onto the food. This place has it all, full service deli, sushi bar, bakery, excellent seafood and awesome produce. My motto has always been if you want cheap and good, you go where all the Chinese people are, and trust me, they are all HERE! T and T Market, you've got my vote over our 99 Ranch Markets any day!

Osaka is my preferred supermarket when in Richmond. The T&T near here is too small with little selection. I love their selection of baked goods, which includes an array of Western and Eastern items. They also have a good prepared foods section which include sushi and freshly made dim sum. The store is comfortably sized, but relatively cramped as opposed to the T&T at Metrotown. Parking is an issue here as the spaces facing No. 3 Road seeming always look full and you are circling around for a space. Aside from this, I would recommend Osaka for its selection and would suggest as a stop on a trip to Golden Village.

Review from jacky k c.
this place is pretty much a chinese market with a japanese name just to boost prices. there is nothing that says japanese to me. all the shoppers are chinese anyways. Most of their stuff is comparably overpriced, but they do have lots of things such as packaged ingredients to make chinese soup, all kinds of bakery items, and sushi just to name a few things.
tip: go there with ur own grocery bag cuz they charge for plastic bags -
Review from Wing M.
This is a really good supermarket. Generally I like Uwajimaya slightly better for groceries but their bakery is large and amazing, possibly the biggest Japanese/Chinese modern bakery I've found in North America. They have a huge variety of buns and breads: I found a bacon wasabi bun there once! Bacon Wasabi Bun!!!!!! How can I not give this place 5 stars?

This supermarket is a MUST VISIT for us. We love their bakery area, because they have tons of pastries and breads in convenient individual packages. If I'm lucky, I will be able to find boxes of flaky, soft Taro pastries that have a bit of mochi in the center. I absolutely adore them and I'm sad that I cannot find them in Seattle. Their instant noodle selection is pretty large as well as their selection of Japanese snacks. They had some Matcha Kit-Kats the last time I visited. Awesome!

I drive 143 miles from just to buy Asian pastries from this place. Finding parking is a pain but worth it just to bring back some bo lo bao (HK and Taiwan style), green onion and shredded pork pastries, and their red/green bean filled pastries. They also carry a lot of Asian products that can't be found in the Asian supermarkets in the Seattle area.
