We went for the hibachi.
Hubby and I decided to share a "Supreme" plate, which is scallops, calamari, filet, and chicken, and is intended to be shared between two adults. First of all, if your beef/steak is dry or overcooked, it's because you didn't specify well what you wanted, because they do ask how you want it cooked. Now to that same degree, we asked for rare, and it was not quite as rare as one might hope when they ask for rare. Were I to ask for it again, I'd tell him to sear it and then just take it back off... THAT is my kind of rare. ;o) We both especially enjoyed the scallops and calamari... but really we were content with all of the meats, which came to us very moist and tender. My least favorite was the chicken, but not because it had any flaws, so much as just that the other meat choices were better.
We did not use the sauces that were provided... our meal had plenty of sauce on it when we got it. It really would have been overkill if we had added sauce to our meals.
We had wavered for quite some time as to whether or not we wanted to take on a night at this restaurant with three kids... we knew they would enjoy the spectacle, but we were wary of the price. However, there were kids meals, which were several dollars cheaper than the adult plates. Make no mistake though... five of us cost $111 before tax. This isn't cheap... But actually, that price included 2 small orders of sushi, which were pretty reasonably priced.
BUT... either way... it's not so much about the meal... it's about the experience of "dinner and a show". The kids had a great time. Each table has the same shtick, but it's still fun. If it's any sign of how the restaurant is, I must say that it was packed by the time we left. However, we arrived before 6 (Thursday night, but somewhat more of a weekend crowd due to the holidays), and it was easy to get a seat. I did feel bad for the three people who were already seated when we got to the table. We took forever to decide, and I think they had to wait on us until they got their food cooked.
It's a loud place, and the floors of the hibachi seating areas were a little slick, I noticed... which I'm sure is a function of all the grease and smoke in the place. Definitely not a romantic date-night type of place, at least not on the hibachi side of the restaurant.
I'm not sure how soon we will be back, but that's more of a function of the price and not the experience. Aside from the price, I think this would be a fun place to go with a group. -

Been to Osaka multiple times and always satisfied! By far the best Japanese place in the QCA. Great food and service!

Excellent lunch specials consisting of two or three rolls with miso soup and salad with a very tasty ginger dressing. Other lunch specials from the hibachi are also good. I particularly like the vegetables. The rice was flavorful but the steak was stringy.
Other rolls I enjoy are the Victoria (lobster, apple, wrapped in soy paper) and Red Osaka roll (shrimp tempura, baked). The bento box is good, too. I haven't sat on the hibachi side yet, as I have only patronized Osaka for lunch.
An asset to the Bettendorf area. -

This place is a sushi/teppanyaki place. I sat at the grill, so my review does not include any sushi.
So the heart of the matter is food. The fried rice was decent, though nothing spectacular. It wasn't dried out like a fast food chinese place, but that should be obvious for a real asian restaurant. The steak was a bit overdone and dry, and the chicken breast was tasteless. Both required liberal dipping in the provided sauces.
The grilling show was quite spectacular with some smoke, flames, and humor. I wonder what would have happened had there not been a full table to start cooking. Would they have had us waiting until more people arrived? Or would they serve us with only half a table... I wonder... -

Whoever had the terrible review of this place, I guess you just came on a REALLY bad day. I just went 2 days ago for my birthday and it's a great place. I usually go for hibachi but decided to sit near the sushi bar instead this time and got a great bento box, authentic tasting harumaki and really, really good sushi (which I've had a lot of, in a lot of places). We had one mistake in the order due to the waiter's english not being the best but he was great about fixing it. Everyone is very friendly and the food is always great.

Osaka is definitely a hit or miss. I really love hibachi however sometimes at Osaka the whole dog and pony show with the chef gets annoying, I just want my food and be able to enjoy it, so I prefer to sit on the sushi side. I've had sashimi here and it was very good, but it was my first time having it so I cannot really compare it to anything else. The service is usually pretty on and so is the food. I usually order steak and chicken hibachi but the last time I went, the chef added way to much butter to the rice and veggies and it was very greasy and overcooked my chicken, but that was just 1 time so I will let that slide. I enjoy how majority of the servers, hostess and chefs are Asian so it feels real. The decor is pretty nice too, especially near the bar or the sushi side. I definitely go here once a month at least to get my hibachi fix, lol.
