First off, I'd like to say this isn't actually a vegetarian / végétarienne restaurant, it's a bistro style restaurant with a variety of elegantly prepared hors d'oevres, salads and meals. As a vegetarian I was extremely impressed with their selection and the elegent way the food was presented. We ordered a cooked beet salad which consisted of cooked beats, onions, other seasonings and warm goat cheese. It's possible the best salad I've ever had. Additionally the outside seating provides a lovely view of the water and boats and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My only complaint: they had a limited selection of beers available.

EXPENSIVE! But, pretty tasty for what the offerings consist of. This was my first stop in all of Montreal, directly from the airport with bags in hand. (I was waiting for a boat to arrive at the adjacent D'Escale Marina.)
I found the perfect table to watch the harbor for my boat's arrival on the perfect mid-August day. It was hot outside, but comfortable in jeans. Tourists were walking around everywhere, but it wasn't your typical Navy Pier tourist bunch (I'm from Chicago). There were so many fun accents to eavesdrop on. American english, French Canadian, some Italian, some British english, and I may have even heard some Spanish! I had no idea Montreal was this international.
My server was relaxed, and very friendly. Service was a bit slow right up until the "pay me" part, but that was fine, cause I'm on vacay.
I had a great turkey/cheese/bacon/tomato/herbed mayo/lettuce/multi-grain bread club with some tabouleh side and a pint of Sleeman Light (a local Canadian lager I'd never had before). $24 Canadian - including tip - for a sandwich and a pint? Mmmmmyeaaaa..... Nonetheless, it was the perfect lunch to kick off a relaxing vacation in Canada's most stylishly metropolitan... metropolis? Ha.
If the rest of my vacay is like this lunch was, color me psyched! -

Great place to hang out in Old Montreal. This place is located right by the docks across from a small park where you can just sit and hang out.
As far as Origine Bistro good place to come for a drink or a small snack. Most of the seating is located outdoors, so it makes for good people watching.
Service is good and prices are a bit expensive. Still worth coming to especially for the people watching.Listed in: Montreal
