Original Joe's has become my go-to place for an easy night out.

    My likes:
    - Very casual environment
    - Comfy / roomy seats
    - Good/attentive waitresses
    - Seat-your-self bar, restaurant and lounge area
    - Lots of TV for game nights
    - Decent view of Broadway / Cambie
    - Great selection of drinks

    My dislikes:
    - No reservation on game nights (go figure)
    - They don't always show the game/fight you're hoping to catch.
If you're going for a UFC fight, check the Official UFC locations to make sure they're showing it first.
    - The pastas are a bit bland for my taste (but my boyfriend seems to love them.)
    - The noise level can get pretty high

Hey, if you're a girlie girl wanting your girlie girl night out with high heels, martinis and girlfriend chit-chats, Joe's is probably the wrong place for you. It is a sports bar after all. However, if you are with a group of guys and gals just hoping to catch the 'Nucks and grab some appies and beer, this is a fantastic hangout. They've got tables of all sizes with extremely comfy seats.

They don't have an open sign towards the street so it's hard to tell if they're open or not, but mostly often they are. A stone's throw away from Broadway / Cambie skytrain and City Hall (ZipCar,Modo,Car2Go), it's extremely accessible. If you're meeting people, no one has to get lost.

I give OJ a 4 as I will continue to visit them and try their various items.

....where to start...it took the waitress 30 minutes to take our order and the place was almost empty, 45 minutes before the food arrived!!

the food was average, nothing special but the service was really really BAD!

In a city of craft beer and enticing west coast cuisine, Original Joe's is surprising. Enter this joint and feel immediately like you've been transported to the suburbs. Everything about it reminds me of an unimaginative sports bar anywhere outside of the city.

The service: standard. Young girls, tshirts, perky, look like they could be anyone's sister.
The food: standard. They had a couple of looked-like-vegan options, but I couldn't help dashing down to La Taqueria downstairs during halftime to eat that instead.
The beer: standard. Mostly big breweries, some safe local stuff, mostly their own brand of brew.

Nothing adventurous or interesting about this place. Nothing bad either.

Decent pub food, decent beer specials and a fun vibe.  Not a lot in the way of alternate food choices, but since I don't need that it doesn't bother me.  The design of the place is good, the waitresses are cute and the service is good.

I'm currently having a dream, a day dream and I'm drooling slightly. I'm dreaming of the Kansas City Back Ribs I had yesterday and the Everyday Blonde ale that went with it. DAMN those ribs are finger lickin good! They were paired nicely with garlic smooooshed taters with gravy and roasted vegetables. It was a very satisfying meal to say the least.  The everyday blonde ale was crips and  refreshing with no nasty after taste.

Our waitress was really nice and she had the most awesome accent ever! Why are accents so great?!? They make people so endearing. A person with a Irish or English accent can say anything, even the most derogatory or inappropriate thing, and I would still tilt my head slightly and coo "awwwwwwwwww". Almost like oooooohhing and awwwwwwing a cute baby that is blabbering incoherent sounds. Not that I'm saying people with accents are incoherent, because I would just be bashing myself as I probably have an accent to many people in the world.

The service at this joint was spectacular! The waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the different import beers.

I also love how they renovated this place, it's definitely a lot more up to standards with other modern joints. The night we came was slightly dead, but I hope this place's business picks up, it's definitely a cool place to chill and eat.

At the end of August, I was in search of some food after spending the day at the PNE with my girlfriend.  After stepping off the Broadway-City Hall Skytrain Station, we saw our answer for the day--Original Joe's.  I knew Original Joe's from when I went a couple of times in Edmonton.  So, I wanted to see if the quality of food and service would be the same in Vancouver as in Edmonton.  I'm happy to say, the quality is comparable, but the patio is much better than any of the Edmonton locations (partly because the Original Joe's in Edmonton have the misfortune of being in Edmonton).

Like most restaurants of the type, Original Joe's has a nice interior with couches or bar stool tables and a nice roof-top patio (technically it's not on the top of their roof but the business beside them, but that's just a small detail).  The patio has plenty of tables and umbrellas.  We were very well attended to at this location on a Sunday afternoon, with cheerful and prompt service.  The food is quality is the same or better and cheaper in comparison to other restaurants such as Milestones, Cactus Club, etc in the vicinity.  A sandwich-type meal will run about $10-12.  With Original Joe's you get 2 sides, not just 1, with a meal.  About 6 sides are no extra cost(i.e. fries, coleslaw, etc), while 3-4 things are a little more on the side (i.e. yam fries, steamed veggies).   Overall the food was very good, quick and filling.

The drinks are a little more than the other places.  Their house beer is $5.25 a pint, but the others are $5.75+.  So, this is where they probably make up the money on the lower food price.  The beers are not crazy expensive, or extremely pricey like at a specialty beer restaurant, but they are a little more than other places.  The same goes for their mixed drinks, but they do have a very good selection of "signature" concoctions, while also are able to make up anything you could want.  I had one of their house beers and my girlfriend had a beer mixer called a Dr. Pepper (Blonde Lager, Amaretto, and Coke).   We were both happy with our choices.  He beer concoction, cost about $7, but it was a glass of beer and a full shot.

For the price and atmosphere, Original Joe's is worth the visit if you're hungry and in the in the area of Cambie and Broadway.

It seems that every B-day that get's organized is at Original Joe's which is understandable considering that it is conveniently located near the Canada Line, B-line, is central and not too far from Downtown. This is where it stops when it comes to impressing me.

Atmosphere: It is your typical bar & grill. Just a side note that this place isn't very friendly when it comes to large groups. If you a have 14 or more guests, be prepared to be sitting at an awkward shaped table and as for shared more efficient mingling and conversation, don't count on it unless you get up and block aisles and over take other tables to efficiently play musical chairs and socialize.

Service: It was my friend's B-day party and she was serving approx 19 people at a time and given the numbers and the steady flow of guests, she did an awesome job of keeping tabs on whom ordered what, who just came in and needed a menu and the food coming out on time. I had an issue with my meal and she was very quick to fix it no questions asked.

Prices: They're bar and grill prices which I will gladly pay if the food was great, however, I've never been impressed with their food. I noticed that their item selection has improved dramatically, therefore, wanted to try something new. It's industry standard more attainable pricing.

Food: I've never been a fan of their food ever, I just go when it is someone's B-day since we can't seem to think of anywhere else to go that is location friendly for transit travelers.  I ordered the pepper brown sugar glazed salmon which was dry and the brown sugar tasted more like molasses. It was horrible, however, at it since I was hungry and made it very clear to the waitress that I wasn't impressed. I ordered a mango pasta salad which had one piece of mango for a cup of cold pasta salad. Once again not impressed that I paid $3 more for a mango pasta salad vs. a regular pasta salad side for a single piece of mango the size of the first digit of my thumb? I brought this up to the waitress and she came back and added an extra piece of mango.

Forced here once again after floor hockey.

I do like the renovations that have occurred since my last visit, but the food is still mediocre.  My burger and beer deal came with a sad, overcooked patty.  And, you aren't even getting a deal, since the regular burger comes with 2 sides for $12, and mine came with 1 side and a beer for $14.  Which of course they don't tell you about the 1 side on their specials menu.  So is it a deal?  I think not.

The new menu looks interesting, but they fail to deliver on the actual product.

The mashed potatoes I like.  The packaged, over salty gravy mix?  Not so much.

My friends nachos were pretty loaded and I appreciate that they didn't skimp on cheese or sauces, but that was a damned expensive plate of nachos.  Yikes!

Again, the server was very nice and lovely, and did her damned best to serve our large group, despite having to serve a bunch of other large groups at the same time.  Props to her.

I'd have upped my star rating if the burger had been good.  But as it stands, I am still disappointed.

After a long day of dealing with crowds and line-ups, my boyfriend and I decided to go to a pub to relax and enjoy the sunshine.  Original Joe's is conveniently located across the street from the Broadway-City Hall Skytrain Station, so we decided to go there.

The patio is very nice on a sunny day, with plenty of tables and umbrellas.  The inside looks very classy, at least from the quick glance I took.  The drink specials are very good every day of the week, especially if you're a beer drinker.  My boyfriend had one of the beers on special, while I decided to be adventurous and try the Dr. Pepper Hybrid (Original Joe's Blonde Lager, Amaretto, and Coke).  I am pleased to say it actually tasted like Dr. Pepper (just much more alcoholic).

Original Joe's is cool and lets you choose two sides with your meal, not just one!  No more trying to decide between the fries and the side salad.  The dill dip that comes with the french fries is really good and worth choosing over the gravy (though there is no complaints about the gravy from this girl!).  You can also choose sides such as poutine, roasted vegetables, honey slaw, and mango pasta salad.  How many other restaurants give you those options?  My boyfriend had the Roundhouse, and I had the Cajun Chicken Caesar Wrap, and both were delicious.

For the price, Original Joe's definitely gives you a great meal.

Did someone say free wings?!  Hell yeah I'm in!

I'd heard that if you "Like" Original Joe's on Facebook, you receive a coupon for free pound of wings.  (http://www.originaljoe...)  Being unable to resist free food, I joined some friends at the Cambie and Broadway location.

I understand that they recently did renovations at this location and it looks great.  The wooden floor was very interesting as it was made of wooden tiles rather than the usual wooden planks.  There were enough TVs so that at least 90% of the patrons should be able to see whatever's on.  We were able to snag the table at the corner window with a great view of the street below.

There were six of us in our party and we each had a coupon for free wings though some people in our group also ordered additional food.  We all also chose to drink water.  I could tell that our server was disappointed that we all had coupons and were only drinking water even though she might have been trying to hide it.  I ordered the salt and vinegar wings and some yam fries.

Salt and vinegar wings - The wings themselves nice and meaty.  The salty taste was evident throughout but some parts were more vinegar-y than others.  All in all, pretty tasty although I'd wished I'd ordered the salt and pepper wings instead.

Sweet potato fries - Tasty but nothing extraordinary.

During the meal, our server did come by to check on us and refill our water glasses.

After we paid our bill, our server seemed to perk up a bit.  I'm not sure if this is because a) we tipped as though we had paid for the free wings or b) we were leaving and freeing up the table for bigger spenders.

Bottom line: Nice central location to meet up and watch the game.  Easy access to transit (Broadway-City Hall Canada Line station is across the street and the 99 B-Line on Broadway) is great given our strict liquor laws  However, it is pricey (sweet potato fries are $7.99 and 1 pound of wings is regularly $8.99) and service was just OK.

Original Joes has completed renovated for the better so I had to update my review.  The dated decor inside has been changed to a very modern design, I love the concept with the big share tables in the middle of the restaurant.

They still have the areas where you can sit on couches to watch the game (kinda like your living room) but these too have been renovated.  There's new modern TV's all over the place to watch the game.

In the two times I've been back i've stuck to beer, but Original Joes has always had decent food for a very good price (huge portions), so I presume this hasn't changed.

Hopefully they renovate the patio.  It was closed when i was there last and it looks the same as before.

At first I thought they had gone out of business, which made me sad. But recently I saw the joint was lively again so I thought I'd check it out. They were apparently closed for a long while with renovations and when I went to check it out recently it looked great. The only question was where all the people were.

Our server was super nice. And our food was good. They have decent flavours for their wings, and they are well prepared and come with veggies and ranch dip. We also tried the short ribs, but the flavour pales in comparison to the wings.

Overall a good place to chill after work or catch the game. Food prices are a little on the pricier side though. I'm hoping they'll have happy hour menus soon!

Ill never stop loving original Joes, after all I am from Edmonton, Alberta originally. The food is awesome and you get to pick 2 of their amazing sides. The booze is plentiful and decently priced and they always have something on special drinks and food. Its in a good location and never too full, although during sporting events can get crazy full! The food is also a huge plate so be prepared for the food coma on the bus, skytrain or driving home. A great spot to watch a game, eat too much and drink good specials. Staff are babes and really friendly. Never had a problem :-) big tvs , fireplace seating and cozy booths make for a comfort win. the place has no themed decor or real special ambience but its comfortable and good for the price, cant go wrong there.

I came here during the finals of the Canucks vs.  Blackhawks playoffs and darn me if it isn't crowded. It's like a pack of canned tuna, mixed with olive oil and peanut butter. Yummy yummy.

Randomness is such a beauty isnt it?

Anyway, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and the $2 daily special beef taco (I came there on Tues). The pulled pork sandwich is pretty good, although the ones at Memphis Blues are better. It's tangy, but the pork is not soft enough. It's still a bit chewy. They allow you to order 2 sides, and I ordered honey slaw (it's so-so) and garlic mashed potatoes (mmm hmmm them potatoes go POW POW POW). Thumbs up for the mashed potatoes.

My friend ordered the full dirt pie and it is HUMONGOUS. So ladies, space your stomach wisely because this dirt pie will fill you. It will satisfy the emptiness of your soul. It will quench your thirst for the dirtiest dessert you can imagine. No seriously though it is big. He couldn't finish it so he gave some to me and BOY it was good. Very tasty and the chocolate crust is great.

I paid 15 in total (I forgot to give tips to the server LOL :P I'm sorry server lady). But it was worth it!

    Great Pub for UFC!

We went to Original Joes for UFC129. I never miss a fight when GSP is on the card. They have many many LCD screens so that everyone can see. They also have two large projection screens.

They just completed a renovation and the new interior is quite nice.

The food is very good. I had the large rack of Memphis ribs and my wife had fish tacos.

Every time we go there we get the same waitress, a pretty and charming Irish girl.

The beer selection is average and they have some nicely priced daily specials.

I dropped by Original Joe's for some burgers and beers while we watched the Canucks game. The trademark location on the southwest corner of Broadway and Cambie street is hard to miss and an easy place to drop by during hockey season.

Joe's turned out to be a relaxing, casual place to have a few beers. I enjoyed my brown ale as the I watched the Canucks play.

We both had a Sicilian burger which was insanely big and hearty. There was a sausage in addition to a massive burger patty. It did the trick and we were very full.

I like how Joe's gives you a wide choice of sides and every burger or sandwich comes with your choice of two. I also had a mud ice cream pie, which was ridiculously decadent and filling.

It was not anything spectacular, but the burgers at Joe's definitely did the trick.

Here's yet another chain establishment that manages to serve up a nice neighborhood pub.  We got a fairly large group of family together to watch the Canada/US men's hockey prelim game at Original Joe's, and even though the place was completely packed from the previous game, with the staff's help and some friendly fellow patrons, we managed to cobble together enough chairs and table space for everyone.

The high ceilings and relatively open floor plan create an airy, inviting environment, and pretty much every booth and table has a good view of one of the many TVs mounted on the walls or projection screens.  They have a very nice selection of Canadian and imported beers on tap, as well as bottle service, and they offered a number of game day specials on both food and drink we took advantage of.   Unfortunately they don't have pitchers, but the beers do come in Imperial pints for the price most pubs would charge for a standard pint, so it works out.

For food, we all shared a variety of pizzas and some nachos, which really came through on quantity and quality for the price, which I think was quite reasonable.

The thing that really stood out was the service.  From the time we sat down, throughout the game, and after we settled the bill (which they split for us automatically), our drinks were always refreshed, empties were whisked away immediately, and the gentleman I assume is the manager was circulating throughout the restaurant making sure things were going smoothly, including keeping the washrooms tidy.

Even packed to over capacity it had a great friendly vibe, and the handful of US supporters (myself included) were ribbed goodheartedly even with the unfortunate outcome for the Canadian team.  I have to imagine this atmosphere is even more pronounced on an average night.  After several hours of food and drink, Original Joe's was another great Olympics experience for us that really had nothing to do with the games other than we happened to be there while they were going on.

At OJ's last night for after cosom hockey.  I really only had the nachos with Guacomole and Pulled Pork that I shared with two others,  I can only say that it is is touch of a disappointment for the $22.97 Menu price of them.  Also the pulled pork was more like dried out leftover pork from a few days back....not the truly pulled pork(Memphis Blues Style) that I was hoping for.  I will give kudos to ample guacomole.  Also a friend of mine got a burger and the fries where stale;( I tried one)  very stale.  He sent them back and they gave him new ones but watch out for those fries.

Was here for a farewell GTG and it's a good meeting place for groups - super central at Broadway and Cambie, right next to a Canada Line station, lots of seating, pub style menu.  Lots of metered street parking nearby.

What can I say... it's a chain restaurant - more casual than Joey's and Brown's, with a standard menu of pizza, drinks, burgers, and appys.  Prices are inexpensive.  I hear the patio is nice when it's summer time.  Service is average.  It's not my kind of place but it's OK for the casual pub GTG and to watch a game.

Its always refreshing when you get what you expect.  In all ways Joe's is a perfect little pub/casual dining restaurant/sports bar.

The drinks are priced well with specials on every day of the week.  The service is fast and friendly.

The food is good and tasty.  Love the concept of picking two sides with every dish.  The fries with gravy and cole slaw were excellent accompaniments to my very excellent pepper burger.

My buddy and I frequent this place for games and drinks.
There a several large screens in the bar for everyone to watch the game and there are specials everyday. The service is really chilled (it's a sit-yourself kinda place) and friendly. Atmosphere is not bad, kinda modern without the intimidating attitude.
They feature big 2 bucks beef bones on Sunday and Monday; it great grease with your booze and the bones are just perfect (I order 5 at a time and most times, 5 is more than enough). Keep in mind that the beef bone special is for dine-in only, not take out (they won't even pack your left over to go for you).
Also I would like to mention, you can watch every pay-per-view UFC there (cover charge apply, however).

Bland land! ,but good dry ribs ;)

Original Joes replaced Fogg and Sudds years back after the location sitting vacant for sometime.  Its a large space and must be pricey to upkeep.  I have been here about 6 times and every time feel the same way when I leave. The food is O.K, the atmosphere is bland and the staff is mediocre.

They are just like any other neighborhood typical pub.  Their menu is fairly priced, however something that makes them stand out is their many side options to go with your burger or sandwich.  This option seems to be the only "original" thing about the place.

My favorite dish is the appetizer ribs. they are dry ribs. really plump with meat and the salty,  garlicy rub is a salty meat lovers dream.  this paired with a beer is a great snack to watch the game to.

The last visit I had at original Joes I sat on the patio with a friend of mine sharing appetizers.  The sun was starting to set and the waitress says to us "if your cold just come in anytime".  Now they had lots of those big patio heaters, so I respond with " Would you be able to turn one of the heaters on for us instead?" to which she says, "I don't know how it works, i'll see it another girl does".  The other girl comes out and takes one look at it and says, "nope, looks broken".
This peeved me a bit.  They didn't want us there.

Overall, cheap, ok food, no atmosphere or spunk from the staff.

I used to go to Original Joe's in Edmonton all the time.  For a bit, the food portions got smaller while the prices got higher, so I stopped going.

Finally went last night, and great buffalo chicken fingers and fries again.  All my companions also enjoyed their food.  Our waitress was friendly, and after the UFC crowd poured out, it was back to a laid back pubbing kind of atmosphere.  Only problem, after we paid our bill, even though that's generally the universal sign of "We're done," we had another friend join us, and was hoping to order a couple beers but our server was no where to be found for over half an hour.

Otherwise, and okay place to hang for some gorging on pub style food.

Wings Wednesdays!! Having seen the numerous flavours available, my friend and I decide to try this out on a Wednsday night.

There's a pay parking lot in the back, and street parking available. This entrance of this place is located on Cambie Street. Upon arrival, I stood near th entrance, waiting to be seated. Several waitresses walked by and looked at me and smiled, but I stood there for a couple more minutes, waiting to be seated. Finally, one girl came to me and told me that I could seat myself. Thought it was weird how I had to stand there for some time before someone acknowledged me.

I picked a table near the windows, which overlooked the intersection of Cambie and Broadway. There are several large projection screens that were playing the hockey game. Waitress greeted us almost immediately and took our drink order. They have drink specials every night of the week.

Onto the wings: they have some unique flavours-dill pickle, Shanghai, and Greek. The other flavours are the regular: honey garlic, teriyaki, thai chili, and hot. We decide to be adventurous and get the Shanghai, Greek, thai chili, and honey garlic.

The Greek was my favourite flavour, it was a dry rub of oregano and other spices, and this almost tasted like a garlic butter wing. I know, it might sound gross, but try it and you won't be disappointed. The wings here are tiny tiny though, some barely have any meat.

Even on game night and wings night, there was still plenty of space available. I could see this place being busy during the Olympics though, since it's right across the Canada Line station. A good, casual place to chill with friends, grab a beer, and watch the game!

This place opened after Fog n Suds left.  It's a huge restaurant.  It really is like a pub.  When it opened they used to have free appy's on Friday nights.  This was a great thing.  We'd go after work, have dinner for free & drinks!  All good things must come to end, and it did.  We still go once in awhile after work for drinks & appys.  It's a good place for groups.

I go for lunch once in awhile too, but not often as we try to do cheaper lunches usually.  But the food is pretty good.  Again, it's like good pub food.  The entrees all come with 2 sides which is generous & the sides are pretty yummy.  The fish and chips are good.  The prime rib when it's on special is pretty good.  Burgers are big & tasty.  Honestly, everything is decent.

In good weather, the patio out back is nice to sit on.

Great place to watch the game.  I love their themed food nights such as Mexican Tuesday.  Well, at least that's what I will call it when I go there on Tuesday nights.  $2 soft Tacos & Margaritas the size of soup bowls.

I had it that night and it's pretty good.  It's got a little bit of spice for a mild hotness.  I also had their entree salads and It's really, really, really, really, really, good.  $15 for a salad is steep but they load it with food from the 4 food groups (4 food groups is outdated, i can't find the term used now).

Service is great and I would recommend it to anyone!  The portions are HUGE for it's value.  The main course comes with 2 sides and you are totally stuffed afterwards.  It's 2 meals combined into 1.

I LOVE original joe's on cambie,
the food is great, the service is outstanding and the beers are always served super cold in a super cold glass....
have been coming here for the better part of 10 years and every single experience has topped the one before!
I love it here so much, we brought our entire extended families here for dinner on ( one of the best in vancouver) the rooftop patio after our wedding...
not necessarily in my 'hood (live in kits...) but definitely worth going out of the way for.....
    5 stars!

I've always seen this 2nd story place every time I go along Broadway and finally tried it out last night.

I was quite surprised at the ambiance once I walked in. For some reason the outdoor signage and name made me expect a grungy Denny-like pub but it was quite modern.

Waitresses were laid back and friendly, service was quick. I ordered their pulled pork sandwich with fries (freshly cut) and Caesar salad. Portion was substantial and I was stuffed after. The sandwich was nice and juicy and I picked the BBQ sauce. Can't remember which beer I had but it was smooth.

Definitely a good place to catch the playoff games.

Original Joe's is a good place to grab a reasonably priced pint and catch a game. Lots of beers on tap, and daily drink specials.

The food is what you'd expect at a bar like this. Standard pub fare, and a few interesting entrees. Everything I've tried from the menu ended up being pretty good, and I like that you get a choice of two sides with a lot of the hamburgers and sandwiches.

The atmosphere is lacking a bit, and it definitely has more of a sports bar feel than a restaurant. Lots and lots of big screens that you can see from almost anywhere in the bar. Really nice rooftop patio as well. The patio is pretty small though, so it feels a bit cramped when it's busy.

    Overall, a decent neighborhood restaurant/bar.

This restaurant is like a Cactus Club/Milestone's wannabe. The most diappointing aspect of this restaurant was the washroom.  The soap was very watery, and there was no paper towels, tissues, and anything to dry my hands.  I didn't like the fact that tips was automatically added to my bill.  Service was slow, and my dish which was a prawn carbonara was bland. The sauce didn't excite my taste buds at all.

Located from the Canada Line skytrain station I would have to say this place isn't bad. This is a pub style restaurant with a nice view of the mountains. They have good looking wait staff and really good pub food and a decent on tap beer selection. I had the spinach dip and it was not bad at all. The prices are pretty decent too

I love Original Joe's. It's an old favourite from Calgary, and I was happy to see it in Vancouver when we moved here. The food is good, the portions bordering on the ridiculous (come hungry) and there's ample room for groups. Beware PPV nights; we arrived last night during a UFC match and had to wait until it was over before we could find a seat - but once it match was done, the place emptied out and we had a great time. Original Joe's is a simple, unpretentious brew pub with good food and a central location, and we enjoy it!

It may have just been a one-off night but the service was slow and the pulled pork sandwich I ordered was pretty "meh".  It's not the worst I've had but given the other options in the Broadway and Main area there are many better choices.

This is a great pub that is tucked away on Cambie Street, just off Broadway. During the summertime you can sit on their medium sized patio and watch the world go by as you enjoy a refreshing beer or wine complemented with their great pub grub such as fries or delicious chicken wings. Inside, the space will surprise you. It's large with lots of TVs including two huge screens to watch the game on. There are couches, tables, and bar seating as well as pool tables if you're feeling active. I really enjoy this pub. It's casual, has good food, and friendly staff.

never judge a book by its cover!  at first glance, this restaurant & bar looks old..nothing fancy nor very inviting (from the outside).  i just assumed it was one of those seedy dirty bars that sketchy people hang around at all hours of the day... was i ever wrong!
once again, i have seen and passed this place countless times but only found myself in there because of a friend who lives right down the street from there and said its not a bad place for a casual dinner and bevvie. so we hopped by for a quick bite.
its actually quite nice inside...booths are clean, tables are nice and the people were friendly. i have to say BIG COODLES for our waitress, Lara, she was sweet, friendly, polite, talkative, funny... awesome chick! (i hope she doesnt mind i'm calling her a chick..)
i started off with my signature ceasar..(ceasars on special sunday nights!)...double, tall..with a spicey bean..yummy! GOOD ceasar (remember, im a ceasar snob!)...and the 2nd one tasted stronger than the first!  by the 3rd drink, i had to cut it down to just a single! ha ha..
sunday was also cheap pizza night! ($10 for all of em!) so we both ordered a pizza.
ME: the desperado (grilled bbq chicken, red onions, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes and 3 cheeses over a light cream sauce!)
*first bite the cheese just ran over my fingers and was stringy and melted perfectly.  thin and crunchy crust, very to my liking.  the toppings were plentiful and chopped into nice big sizes (i hate teeny tiny toppings that you cant tell what it is!).
FRIEND: the spanako (fresh tomatoes, spinach, onions, black olives, peppers, feta cheese, mozzarella, garlic and oregano) with grilled chicken added.
*of course i stole a slice!! this one had a much cleaner and fresher taste since its originally a veggie pizza but the grilled chicken didnt over do it at all.  great healthier option for the health conscious!

Lara, our fabulously cute waitress, informs me that this place has been around for over 2 1/2 years... and they are going to be doing a huge makeover soon..everything will be gutted and redone, granite table tops, booths against the windows will be facing it so that they can people watch (they are upstairs so its easy to do it incognito!)... and of course, they will still have all the big screen tvs to watch games and fights.

i cant wait to return to the newly improved 'original' joe's!
