Review from Edward L.
Came here to watch a hockey game.
Parking here is surprisingly plentiful in the lot out front. Just what I want to see.
The inside was surprisingly spacious for a game night. The place was at 90% capacity, but what I mean is that there wasn't a huge mob that got in the way of everything. This is worth mentioning because many other places tend to pack people in like sardines.
I liked their TV setup. It's nothing special, but they put enough screens around that you generally don't have to crane your neck at an awkward angle if you don't want to. Another special mention here.
On Sundays they have $5.50 beers (most of their selection) and $5 Caesars. Excellent.
I had their Desperado pizza. My friend didn't like it but I actually found it to quite delicious. The chicken and pizza went along nicely.
Not sure if they do this all the time, but today those who ordered beers also got Canucks (their version) towels. Free swag feels good.
This place will be on my radar next time I want to watch hockey. Recommended. -

This is one of those places you would use as a substitute. Not the greatest place in town but definitely not the worst.
The food is nothing special. It tends to take a while and is really not worth the wait. The big portions make it a popular place for lunch but their small parking lot makes it hard to access.
Service is friendly but rather inattentive to the customer. But this last point is rather hit and miss.
The decor of the restaurant is rather poor but does have a few nice pictures of local sites. But don't be in a rush if your looking for something fancy. -

Recently went back to Original Joes in Richmond after a good experience here during the hockey playoffs (p.s.not a bad spot to go to if every where else if full).
The 2 stars is for the Manager's response to an "observation" I brought to his attention. Throughout our dinner, our table (as well as those around us) was inundated by fruit flies! I found myself swatting away the pests in between bite and looking out to see other people were doing the same. I politely brought up the concern to the manager and he looked at me like I was on crack. He said something to the tune of "oh yeah, its a common problem in the restaurant business".??????? And left it at that- no apology. I'm sorry, but normally when I go out to eat I don't EXPECT to dine with fruit flies as if its a common dinning experience.
Otherwise, the food there is passable. Decent selection on the menu, large portion size for burgers, so if you want to stuff yourself silly go for it. There's also a good selection of appies for watching a game or sharing.
I'm not rushing to go back any time soon. -

Great service, friendly atmosphere, good crowd for the game and WOW the beer selection.
Had the wings and double dog sandwich. Wings were good (at best). The sandwich was excellent, perfect chewy toasted bread, hot and juicy. Fries were surprisingly fresh and hot. The gravy was a great addition.
Will make it a regular stop while in town. -

This seems to be the Chili's or Applebee's of Canada. It's not bad food, but it's not awesome food either. This is basically a generic place to get intoxicated, watch some variety of sport on the large TV's and eat a burger. I don't drink or care about sports, so for me it was simply about the burger. It was massive (too big for me) but above average for a chain. The bun was also toasted, which always makes for a better bite. The main attraction for us was the poutine served on the side. We'd never had such a thing before and it was a delightful surprise to our American palettes. We'll definitely have to track that down, back home.

It's another sports bar with TV's, pints on tap (but they don't have pitchers), and your staple bar food. We ordered the chipotle chicken quesadilla and asked the waitress to only put chicken on half of it and she gladly obliged. The food came out quickly and was very tasty. What's great about this place is their daily specials. There's always something on special, a beer, a cocktail or food item. I ordered their Tuesday special, a Dead Frog Lager for $4.95 and it comes in a 20 oz pint! For beer drinkers you know this is big, those who aren't, well guess it doesn't make a difference to you then. So after 3 of those, its like buying a pitcher for $15.00.
I think because of its odd location, there are that many off the street patrons, but more regulars who just want to have a casual meal and a few real pints. -

Came back a couple more times since the first time. It's very busy now at lunch, and sometimes there's even a wait for a table.
Tried another couple of items-the Original Joe's burger-and it's suprisingly good. The bun is not your typical burger bun, but it's a fresh, a little crispy on the outside, sesame seed bun. The thick hamburger patty is flavourful and juicy, and this also comes with 2 sides. I tried this with their sweet potato fries will dill dip-this were perfect!! Crispy, not overdone, and the dill dip goes perfectly with them.
Other dishes tried include the fish and chips (large pieces of fish and a heaping plate of fries.), and the beef dip (also very large portion.) Their dishes seem to be large, so arrive hungry!
Service is great, and even though it's busy, food arrives in a reasonable time. Found out about their 50% off all wines on Saturday! I'l be back!Listed in: Lunching in Richmond

Review from Larry L.
Today was a day with my Grandmother. Where shall we go Batchan? (short for Grandma in Japanese). Hey let's try this new place. It's called Original Joes.
"Joe Who?" she asks.
Food wasn't spectacular, but it could have been better. I thought the Honey Garlic wings had too much sauce on it and my salt and vinegar wings were good, but half of the pieces were drummettes that looked like they were missing something.....meat.
The veggie burger was average. If the bun were toasted it would have been better, but overall it was kinda mushy. It needed some more texture.
Service was good and casual and our waitress was nice. Coffee was fresh and this was good. I really needed some decent coffee.
Someone said the butter chicken was decent. I'll have to try this next time I'm here. -

I went to Original Joe's yesterday with a couple of co-workers and it was quite good. The food selection was pretty good and they offer two sides for your burger/sandwich meal.
Seriously, you give me mashed potatoes, I'll give you 4 stars.
They are pretty tasty, though I would have used more garlic and it was nice to have a choice of vegetables to make myself feel better about my meal. The steak sandwich was cooked to my specifications (medium rare, delicious!) and well-seasoned. The garlic bread it came on was crunchy and garlicky.
Nothing was super outstanding (my lime margarita was a little light on the lime) but it was good enough that I would go again. I spotted a few more things on the list that I want to try.
PS, my friend tried the Vietnamese sandwich. She said it was tasty and spicy. My other friend had wings and poutine and I wanted to snatch fries from her. -
