Review from John D.
Edmonton, AB
This is a very good Chinese restaurant. It is Buddhist and vegetarian, but there are lots of substitute meats. I haven't tried any of the substitute meat dishes, since they scare me somewhat. But the just veggie and the tofu dishes are quite nice. I liked the mushroom fried rice. Not greasy at all, and delicately spiced. Maybe a bit on the subtle side. I had it as takeout, so I can't comment on the service. The neighborhood sucks, but so what. Definitely, give this place a try.

Review from Paula K.
Oriental Veggie House is one of the few all-vegetarian restaurants in Edmonton. Tucked away in Chinatown, the Veggie House serves Chinese-style dishes using soy, tofu, and gluten as meat substitutes. Other dishes use vegetables exclusively, augmented with rice and noodles. Some of the "meat" dishes include seafood, duck, lamb, chicken, beef, and pork. I usually order a beef and noodle dish, and it very hard to tell the difference between it and the real thing. I have a friend who is hooked on one of the appetizers; the pan-friend turnip cakes. If you are vegetarian, or want to hang out with someone who is, Oriental Veggie House is a must-visit.
