    WoW - 121!!!

I have been going to 121 since the Spring. With the promise of health and fitness in 15 minutes a week, how could a long time marathoner like me not be skeptical - I mean interested.

The program is based on some sound science research and seems to enjoy sticking it to the classic anecdotal approaches to fitness - especially the existing dogma of cardio. Whether you ever drag your butt into 121, you should read the book:
http://www.bodybyscien.... (FYI - the illustrator for the book is a good friend who lives a couple of doors down in Dartmouth)

So, back to 121, the facilities are clean, modern and efficient. The mix of fitness sessions, physio and massage makes it feel more like a doctors office than a fitness centre.

The program is based on one person, one trainer alone in the training room for 4-5 exercises for 15 minutes a week - now this is personalized! Having a trainer focus on every second of your training is a proven training technique for success - and the 121 trainers are excellent. They coach, cajole, cheer, encourage and do whatever is necessary to ensure that your muscles are max out - each time, every time, every second of the workout. Until you experience the exhaustion of 2 minutes of controlled max out effort, it is hard to appreciate this approach. But it works and 121 do it best!

They use some administrative touches like variable automatic payment plans and e-mail reminders of appointments.

Overall 121 has given me a crazy, almost unbelievable, experience that now has my muscles in the best shape in decades. Their professionalism, facilities and instructors helped me get through my skepticism - great thanks!

Paul B. has already given a great review of this centre. I decided to give it a try as my husband has been going here for the last 6 months and has been raving about his progress. You make great gains in muscle development by exhausting the muscle completely using very slow movements in about 3 minutes. I find it amazing that you can take the muscle to utter exhaustion, without harming tendons and joints. The trainers do suggest starting with 2, 20 min sessions per week. Once you have achieved all the gains you require, only one session per week may be needed. You also get a  cardio workout as exhausting muscle groups uses up lots of oxygen. Be prepared for a VERY strenuous and NOT fun workokut; however, the good news is, that you only have to suffer for 20 minutes. :-) It's the only centre like it in Atlantic Canada. I highly recommend one to one wellness training, especially for busy professionals who want to get maximum benefit in minimum time.
