Best sushi place near campus, and the best sitdown restaurant on campus.
What I usually get: Bento Box D with Cod. Their sashimi is great, the cod is tastey, and the miniature salad it comes with is the best bento box salad I've ever had.
Other standbyes: Any of their ngiri (Saba is good here) or any of their Maki rolls.
Atmosphere: Big spacious area with some large group sized tables. Fun traditional looking Japanese artwork on the walls.
This place gets 4 stars because: As UBC's best sitdown restaurant it's a surprisingly good deal. They're fast and polite and the food is good. Pretty hard to find a better miso soup or maki roll anywhere near this price.Listed in: UBC Eats

Staying on campus during finals means everything is nearly closed by dinner time on Saturdays (BTW whoever is the culprit behind scheduling back to back exams on Saturday is on my black list). Asked the guy on duty at Gage where I could get grab some food around 8:30pm and he informed me of this sushi place in the village that also delivers. Called right before closing but they still delivered past that time so the convenience is obviously there!
Ordered:
1) Chirashi don: No variety in the sashimi and the fish was not very fresh. Only had two pieces each of salmon, tuna, tamago and fake crab meat. A piece of tako on the side.
2) Negitoro: Usually in a maki form this one came wrapped inside out. Not enough green onions mixed in with the tuna. What can I say? I like my scallions!
3) Spicy Scallop: Mildly spicy. A-OK.
Food's not spectacular and pricey for what it's worth but hits the spot if you don't want to go up to Kerrisdale. Plus is obviously that they deliver! -

Yes please! I always get delivery from here. They deliver from 5-9pm
(within 3 k with a minimum of $15.) A couple of the things I really like are the spicy agedashi tofu, the seafood ramen and the vegetable maki. I've had some really awesome fish and some really mediocre fish. It's reasonably priced, especially the bento boxes, they deliver, and I really have had some surprisingly delicious sashimi here. -

ERGH.
I came over this place with a friend of mine. She recommended this place because it's close to UBC...
Anyway the place is on the 2nd floor of the University Village apartment thingy. The place is nothing special; just a typical sushi joint.
I ordered the roll combo. It came with... urgh my disease is coming again, I forgot haha. Well I ate here a month ago or so anyway. But the rolls doesn't taste fresh, and the portion is as small as your/your boyfriend's genitalia. Now THAT'S small.
*Ahem* anyway, back to the topic: the service was really just adequate. Price was... alright I guess. My combo costs $10, but the portion was quite small. Really not worth it I think.
Don't come to this place unless you wanna waste some energy by going up the stairs and wasting your money on some disgusting sushi. -

This is a sushi place at the UBC village. Its a proper restaurant and even has a wine list.
Overall, this place is nothing special. The rice / seaweed isn't very good and the proportion of raw fish to rice isn't always correct.
I actually prefer osaka sushi which is downstairs in the international food court for price and quality although the quality isn't fantastic either.
The only thing I might recommend at One More is their Blue Cheese Chicken, sounds disgusting but its actually tasty!
Overall, service is not bad, they deliver, prices are reasonable as they have bento boxes, food is average cheap-sushi quality. -

I wanted to give it 3.5 stars but I wasn't able to set that rating so I've rounded it up to 4 stars because this place is the most decent sushi restaurant right on UBC campus at the moment. There are likely more authentic Japanese foods off campus but this place is on the top of the list if you are looking for a nice sit-down Japanese meal at UBC.
The restaurant is spacious, with decent Japanese style decor and their service is prompt and courteous. This place can be very popular during lunch time so best to make lunch reservations or go earlier, preferably before noon. They have tatami seating on the side with more privacy and also great for groups with over 8 people. There are also bar seating where you can sit in front of the sushi chefs and watch them make sushi.
All the times that I've visited, they kept up their standards on the bento boxes and there is 4- 6 choices. I always check out their white boards and order the specials if there's any sashimi or sushi specials because I find those items to be fresh and have never been disappointed. For example, they had fresh uni when uni was in season and that was yummy. As a regular menu item, I like their agedashi tofu and blue cheese chicken roll.
This place has been around for years and it's still a popular choice for many UBC folks. -

My favourite sushi place on campus. Top choices are their Spicy Agadeshi Tofu which is amazing, the spicy tuna roll (it isn't topped with a sauce, which I prefer), and their mango salmon roll. They also have decent prices and good service. It's packed during lunch time, as many have mentioned, but service is usually very quick and attentive. Not an ideal place to lounge for hours, as it has more of a fast-food vibe.

If you're into the classic California rolls, you might want to think twice about ordering it here. They're almost like pure rice rolls with some roasted sesame seeds on the outer layer. A proper California roll should have crab meat or imitation crab meat and avocado for the inner layer, but my Califorina roll had 95% rice and not enough crab meat. It tasted really bland, so I had to use a lot of soy sauce to finish it up. The rice was not sushi grade and the rolls kept falling apart. On another note, my server refilled my cup with green tea many times.

One More Sushi is the best of a not great lot as UBC campus sushi goes. The pickings are pretty slim 'round these parts, and only in an environment where mediocrity reigns so supremely could a restaurant so average flourish, and flourish it does. OMS is always smoking busy at lunchtime, which probably leads to it's one major selling point: speed. I don't think I've ever waited longer than 10 minutes for a meal after ordering, even when I've been with a whole slew of people and the place has been otherwise filled to capacity. Given that these are business lunches and therefore we are generally on a clock, this is not necessarily an inconsiderable advantage when selecting where to eat. There isn't much else to say about it really, service is efficient, (they've screwed up my order once or twice but always corrected it quickly and without argument) and the food is dead average, both in quality and in price. Nothing to write home about, unless you write to your folks about totally average meals you've eaten.
"Dearest mother and father,
Today I had a california roll not disimilar from every single other california roll I have ever eaten. Hope all is well.
Love, your son/daughter."
I'm sure you get the picture. -

This place has pretty good california rolls. They started to get a little creative and made mango rolls and blue cheese teriyaki chicken rolls. I don't know if Bleu Cheese really belongs in sushi. But nice efforts anyway. The prices are decent and the atmosphere is nice. Another nicer place to go for food on campus, but without being over priced. I think it's the best sushi place on campus anyway. So for that, it gets 4 stars. It's way better quality than Osaka sushi, Omio Japan, and Honour Roll. And their Bento Boxes are pretty decent.
Plus, they give yummy blueberry candies at the end with the bill! -

Its a bento house pretty much. If you go to school and just want to find some cheap sushi, this isn't a bad place to go but don't go expecting a whole lot.
I got the Bento Box B which was ok, chicken teriyaki, tempura (frozen then fried it tasted like), california role which was mostly fake crab stuff, salad, and fruit.
Not a bad deal for about $9.40, quite a bit of stuff not amazing but a filling lunch none the less. -

Service is fast and efficient. Food is consistently tasty, and the portions are quite decent. It's not the best sushi in the world, but being on campus it's pretty good if you have a sushi craving. Take-out is also really fast and efficient as well.

Food is ok, not exceptional. But for UBC, 3 stars is the highest. There really isn't much choice at UBC for decent food service. This place is new and clean, and not tacky. It is always busy at lunch, might have to wait in line. Booking in advance for groups recommended.
