If you know a kid that would rather watch TV than read, they may have not met the right bookstore yet. Once Upon A Huckleberry Bush might just be the remedy. The store is whimsical and inviting. Books are arranged by age group and are displayed in a way to encourage browsing.
Once Upon A Huckleberry Bush is dedicated to young readers and offers story times and book clubs for kids. They've got Sci Fi, Mystery, and Fantasy book clubs. They also sponsor story writing contests to inspire young authors. Make sure to check out the teacher and librarian discounts and their frequent buyer program. -

This place is charming. It's clean and colorful, and makes me want to buy all the books. Children's books are often so creative and well written. I like to buy them as gifts, and also my favorites for myself!
The staff here was very polite. There were lots of customers inside, but they were managing to quickly ring people and circulate on the floor to help locate specific books. Great specialty shop with friendly workers. -

What a great addition to the already wonderful Main Street shopping area! I'm a sucker for any independent book store - but a children's independent book store really catches my eye. An interesting note for Seattlites: this shop is run by an ex-pat from Auburn, WA - a very nice & knowledgeable woman who clearly loves Vancouver & children's literature.
Once Upon A Huckleberry Bush doesn't disappoint. A small, nicely laid out space with great selections for kids of all ages -baby to teen - with a small selection for adults. What I love about indy bookstores - thoughtful selections you don't find everywhere, this shop has them. There is a local & regional author's section in the front of the store. I especially like the flat racks for the soft cover picture books - this is a thoughtful touch that draws little ones into the world of books.
A frequent buyer program. Great events for kids and they were advertising a writer's workshop for moms as well. A nice reading area with bean bags in the back for little ones. Definitely worth a stop for families doing the Main Street stroll! I look forward to making the "Huckleberry Bush" a stop for years to come.
