Review from Todd V.
Toronto, ON
I've always wanted to find a kinda seedy place to play pool, have a couple of beers, and kill off an evening with my absolutely-no-talent billiard style. Oh, and if said pool hall was owned by a guy named "Rocco", that'd make it perfect to the point of stereotyping.
Enter On Cue. Tucked away just south of Annette Street on Jane, On Cue is all of that. Billiards, beer, and I'm-sure-some-other-b-word-that-I-can't-find-just- now await you. The place is a bit on the rougher side, but still has great tables, and friendly staff. By staff, I mean Rocco. I've been there a few times now, and have only ever seen him working behind the bar or serving up numbered balls to the tables needing them.
If you're in the 'hood, and are jonesing for a bit of pool, you can definitely do worse than play here. When you go in, say "hey" to Rocco for me. -

The tables are great and there are lots of them so you will usually not have to wait, there's a full bar and the location is perfect for the neighborhood, but I would really love to see this place get a bit of a make over...the bathrooms are sooo bad and the bar area feels like a garage. I've never ordered the food so I don't know if its good but I haven't been inspired to.
Definite diamond in the rough...hopefully I'll be able to upgrade this review someday! -

Ownership has changed since Todd V's review - the owner is Rich (Hrytz), and he makes his own excellent varenyky (perogies). Being of Ukrainian background, I'm a varenyk snob, and his are among the best! There is a good selection of microbrews on tap (Robert Simpson!); it is a friendly, cozy, decent place with well-maintained pool and snooker tables and movies/sports/Family Guy on the TV. Live music on weekends. Bathrooms have been recently improved - Rich is one of those (sadly) rare publicans who takes his profession seriously and is constantly bettering his domain.
