Love, love, love this place! Super friendly, and absolutely beautiful! It's a very relaxing and calming environment. When I bought my first two terrariums, the florist helping me was incredibly kind and efficient. She knew I had no idea what I was looking for, but the terrariums she came up with are gorgeous! I sill receive complements when friends come over (it's been well over a year since I bought my first ones.) You can tell the shop cares very much about their plants and their craft. Definitely a must go if you're looking for something super beautiful and unique.

When you walk in this place, a feeling sets over you. "Ahhhh.. yes. This is the type of flower shop I have been looking for."
I love this shop. Amazing selection, freaking beautiful arrangements, and super neat things I rarely see. The staff and owner are so lovely and have exceeded my expectations with every new order. I wouldn't dare go anywhere else. I couldn't. -

This place is fantastic. This is not your average "flower shop". This place is working from a design based aesthetic. They also work from a community based point of view. Everything they do is innovative and inspiring. They make me want to look at the earth around me with much wider eyes. The ability to use our surroundings in such creative ways just astounds me. I highly recommend them for any kinda of need or function.
Also, the shop is crazy awesome beautiful to check out. -

Me: I need wheat.
Friend: Wheat? What the hell for?
Me: For a shoot. Any idea where I can get some?
Friend: Uh. Saskatchewan?
Me: Yeah, thanks. Real helpful.
Friend: A bakery?
Me: Uh... I was thinking maybe a florist.
Friend: P'shaw* Yeah right. Good luck with all that. You'll never find it.
Me: If I find it you owe me a beer. A Wheat Beer.
Me: I know this is probably a long shot but, do you carry wheat?
Florist on Granville Isle: Sometimes.
Me: So it wasn't a stupid request?
Florist: M-eh. I don't have any but if you give me your phone number I can see if we can order some for you. We'll let you know either way.
Me: Really? I'd really appreciate that. Thanks a lot.
(They never called.)
Repeat conversation more or less at four other florists.
Me: Hi. I've been to five other flower shops and I've had no luck at all. Do you have happen to have any wheat?
Nice lady from Olla: Yep. Right over here.
Me: No. Waaaaayy....
NLFO: Here you go. I only have a small bunch but I can get more if you need it.
Me: No thanks. This is perfect. Hmm -it's kinda green!
NLFO: Yeah. Most people assume it's gold or yellow. I have other plants that look a little like wheat that are more yellowish.
Me: No. No problem. It needs to be actual wheat.
NLFO: Mmm. How's seven bucks sound?
Me: (thinking: I'd pay $70 at this point.) Deal! You're a life saver.
NLFO: Oh good. We specialize in local and sustainable plants. We have a background in design as opposed to botony or floral arranging.
Me: I can see that. Your arrangements are very original. All about form and rhythm.
NLFO: Yeeeaah.
Me: Thanks. Your shop is beautiful.
NLFO: Thank-you.
Me: I got my wheat you doubting Thomas. You owe me a beer,
Friend: Wheat?
The store is very pretty. Quaint and charming. If you need wheat she's sold out. But she has all kinds of other neat hard to find local plants. -

I love this place. Both Megan and Dionne are passionate about innovative and sustainable plantings. Not your typical "roses in a vase" arrangements. They do creative, innovative, natural looking arrangements that are amazing.
I bring my vases in when I want an arrangement for a dinner party and they come up with something that wows me each time. Whether it is an air plant suspended in the air or a simple fern on a log, they can come up with something for you.
Check them out if you want something fresh and not run-of-the-mill. -

I wanted to give flowers to a gal at work who takes heaps of abuse for fixing people's problems. I went to look for them at Olla's, upstairs off Cambie @ Cordova.
The place is not immediately obvious. But walk upstairs and its magic. Tables full of plants and flowers, a wall of epiphytic bromeliads, artwork on the wall, an incredible carved pumpkin (its Halloween soon). The space is lush with green and beauty, and anticipates the plants and flower arrangements, whether a big, beautiful bouquet of roses or dried flowers.
I worked with Dionne and we came up with a small, lovely arrangement of dried flowers in a vase. I dropped them by Kaitlyn's desk at lunch, but it was her day off. No worries: the arrangement will look as beautiful Monday as it did when I delivered it.
Olla's gives you beauty you can bring home or offer as a gift. -

I just sent a friend some flowers from this place. They seem super passionate about flowers and plants. What I like best is that they have an amazing design aesthetic and they are trying to do something that goes beyond the run of the mill. Yeah, for passionate local people!

Olla Flowers is amazing. I didn't used to feel good about giving flowers as I knew too much about the pollution and poor standards in the flower industry. Olla takes every effort to be local, seasonal, and sustainable and are creative geniuses to boot. I love supporting the work they do and now actively try to think of more people I can send flowers to. I order a bouquet a week and only want more!
