edit: down to 4 stars why ho why Olie did you make your calzone cost 8.50 now, it's a 25% increase in a  year!!! Arghhh... now I can go to any place to get good food.

Ok, the slices are overpriced (but delicious, if a bit thin) but they have the best kept food-value-taste-quantity secret in Vancouver: I present

    THE CALZONE

it's a secret item on the menu, costs 6 Loonies or 3 Toonies, and it's HUGE. And you can select your 3 favourite ingredients from a list of 30+ so you can always find something to your liking.
my personal best: Ham, potatoes and FRESH basil leaves.

    Go Olies!

For once, my 1st bad star lol, only b/c it's.....GONZO!

Surprisingly out of business--was just here a month ago.

Windows were all taped up with brown paper, and no other signs, so can only assume it's out of business, esp. when i called, the number is out of service.

    * Pizza should be hot. Period. *

Ok, I don't know why but they seem to have changed from a real pizza oven to one of those rolling types you see at the mass production pizza places.  But they have.  No idea why.

When I asked for a slice they were actually going to just give it to me from the glass display without giving it a burst in the oven like they used to.

I placed a finger on the pizza to see if it was actually hot and it was barely lukewarm, so I asked him to crisp it up in the oven.  He literally put it near the rolling oven for maybe 10 seconds and gave it back to me.  I asked again politely, "Um, no, like actually hot and crisp please?"  He then put it on the rolling thing for about 30 seconds and gave it back to me saying, "It is hot now."  It wasn't.  But I had already asked twice.

While the crust is nice and thin and the toppings are of nice quality, pizza just doesn't taste good when it is lukewarm.  Period.

First, I will admit that I have had a few flawless, Nat's-esque slices from Olie's. It is close to both my home and place of work, and it is hard to resist any convenient take-out options in tha hood. Olie's, however, is inconsistent and inauthentic. There are no Italians or New Yorkers in the kitchen, the sauce is pale and thin more often than not, and they are skimpy on toppings when one orders a full pie.

I have noticed that several reviewers promoted their calzone, and I must agree that this item provides good value. But I should also mention that you can buy a loaf of sourdough and a jar of Adam's all-natural peanut butter for under this affordable six-dollar budget. Just sayin'.

In all fairness, by Vancouver standards, Olie's would be deserving of at least one additional star. Their pizza is certainly among the best I've had in this city.  And considering that they're not even using a wood-fired oven, but one of those automated pizza baking contraptions, this is all the more impressive. But, for some reason, I'm feeling snobby today and, in that mood, I can't help but point out once again the simple, tragic fact that being among the best pizzerias in Vancouver really isn't saying much.

At this point, I would even settle for a decent New York style pizza to pass the time between visits to Europe, but even the ones that carry that label here are nowhere close to what you actually get in New York. Olie's has, even more daringly, at least loosely been likened to Neapolitan style pizza on some food blogs and other reviews on the web and it is exactly this raised expectation that cost them an extra star in my book. Yes, it's a decent thin crust pizza. But it's still a completely different universe compared to the crisp, bubbly goodness you (can) get not only in Italy, but literally all over Europe. And if you can get this quality of pizza in Germany, Austria or even Holland (places not actually renowned for high quality food - besides bakery items and confectionery - until not that many years ago), I simply cannot get it into my head why it seems to be so impossible to reproduce in West Coast foodie central.

Anyway, ranting and raving aside, if you are like me, looking for an authentic Italian pizza, Olie's is just yet another place where you won't find it. But if you're just looking for an undoubtedly above-average pizza, in the confines of a city where that average is not particularly high, then Olie's is definitely a contender. Considering the also way above average price, however, I think I will personally not be back all that often.

taste like a real pizza from italy. Not sweet as the most other pizza you can have here in canada. They put a lot of stuff on and the price is ok.

In my limited experience this is the best pizza in Vancouver.  Do not listen to the other reviews on this page. The only place you can get decent thin crust pizza in this city.

OLIES PIZZERIA IS THE PLACE TO GO! Not only is the pricing unbelievably cheap, the freshness of the wholesome ingredients they use is astounding! Their homemade sauces and scrumptious thin crust pizzas are to die for! They are open as late as 1:00AM on Friday and other days, they do free delivery and awesome deals everyday saving you even more money with their already great prices. This place is like PIZZA HEAVEN. I crave for Olie's Pizzeria whenever I another pizza from some other store. If you haven't tried Olie's Pizzeria yet, you haven't lived! TRY IT, you will NOT regret it!
