Review from Tony B.
If you get tired of the falls and are into history at all this is a great place to visit.
It is a British/Canadian fort from the war of 1812 that was occupied by the US.
It is about 27km from the falls and it is inexpensive (about $10 CDN).
The staff is excellent. They seemed to be very into the whole thing, not just doing a job. At one point a bunch of them were just standing around discussing light infantry from the war of 1812.
There is also a great view of the lake from the fort.
They run tours every hour and have random demonstrations.
While we were there they fired a canon and muskets, the kids really liked that.
They also bake cookies in an 1800s style kitchen in the fort and give a free sample cookie.
You can also walk around on your own and there are several displays set up. Take a look at the website for more details, but it is well worth a visit.
BTW: if you are at the falls and buy the adventurer pass it has a 1/2 price admission coupon.
