Review from Kelly K.
I went here summer 2006 or 2007 and was very impressed with the quality of the seafood. The atmosphere is very casual and service was very friendly--seemed like college students working through summer break . I ordered steamed lobster, and it was outstanding. The beer on tap was great and I snagged a seat overlooking the water--priceless. Can't wait to go back. The location of the restaurant is overlooking the water in a very historic town that is quite beautiful. The only thing is parking is hard too find.

Good food, great location, lousy service.
It never seems to fail; a restaurant scores big-time with an A-1 location, but then fails miserably at matching it with A-1 service. It's as though the owners are saying: we don't have to be good because all the suckers around will come just for our location.
I'll tell you this: I have family all over Nova Scotia and generally pass through Lunenburg once or twice a year, but I will definitely not go back to the Old Fish Factory.
I had the Ice House Ale battered haddock & chips, which was tasty, but not worth the crap service and ridiculously long wait. We were there at 7PM on a Wednesday night. Our server seemed pleasant, but she continually forgot the things we asked for; at one point I honestly thought she'd forgotten we were there. When we did manage to flag her down for another round of drinks, they took way longer than need be, and when she did finally drop new drinks, she left our table cluttered with all the empties. Her service was baffling.
Our dinners took WELL over an hour to arrive. A stupid long wait for a family restaurant -- we being a family with kids.
Quality of food was, as I said, okay, when it finally arrived. I didn't like the tartar sauce (too sweet), but the fish and chips were pretty good.... The thing is, we're talking about Nova Scotia, I can get Fish & Chips anywhere -- I certainly don't need the Old Fish Factory, so I won't be going back. -

This was a good meal with a great water view. After a meal at the Salt Shaker Deli the night before, this restaurant just didn't compare. It had good selections but nothing was amazing.
