The vegan cake was good and the Soy-Chai Late was very good

We had a late night dessert craving and I dropped in with a friend. The place seems a bit dark and dingy but they have candles lit up at night and a large display of delicious, way to much sugar desserts!
My friend ordered and picked up a coffee for each of us and we each got a slice of the pink velvet cake as it looked delicious!
The pink velvet cake was a little dissapointing. I could be wrong but it did not taste like it was made that day...and if it was then it was not a solid pink velvet cake. The coffees were ok.
If you're on a budget this place is not for you! I found out later the slices of pink velvet cake were $8 each and they're not particularly large portions. Yikes!!! Seriously if you're going to charge that much you should make sure the cake tasted like it was made 5 minutes before I stepped in the door.
There's no other option if it's late at night but if you're in the market early in the day you should drop by Cupcake Lounge for their red velvet cupcakes or even check out Planet Coffee for some of their cakes. -

Oh so bad that's all I can say. Went with a few friend after dinner and walking around at by ward market. Order an lemon tart and hot chocolate. The tart is disappointing and the hot chocolate is not even warm. the place is way over priced for the dessert and for the decor ( that's only if you can SEE the decor).

The problem with this place is the the lighting. It's so dark, and I think they do this on purpose because it's so DIRTY. Look closely people, I found lipstick on my mug countless times and the place smells like a bathroom. I never come here anymore if I can avoid it.
Dirty! -

In the LATE hours of the night, I was half surprised half amused that a Coffee House was open while even some restaurants and shops in the area is closed for the day. Open even beyond it's Second Cup and other Coffee counterparts which is an absolute advantage taking in the night-cap customers after a late dinner. That would be me!
Used and abused would be how I describe the atmosphere and furnishings but maybe that is the whole idea as it has an Indie vibe along with local Art being displayed while on certain nights there will be Musicians entertaining the space. It's hard to miss the Cake display fridge, I am no different and the variety is pretty impressive for a Coffee House. 2.5'd
Canadian Cappuccino($5.25/Large)
At that price-point I've seen larger cups of Espresso beverages. The "Canadian" aspect of this drink was the "Maple Syrup" which did make it perfectly sweet for an end-of-night beverage. The Espresso base was actually quite delicious and smells intoxicating while the drink was prepared by the young staff on duty.Listed in: 2.5 **Stars**, Coffee Drinks

I'm certain I'm not the first person to say this but the name says it all, doesn't it?
It's a hot date place in the Byward Market and for good reason. The ambience is great post drink or post dinner to take in a dessert and conversation.
I actually hit this place up in the fall by meeting a friend there and we picked up two slices of different cakes (a caramel-ish piece of heaven and a strawberry cheesecake slice) and took them to Major's Hill Park which is only a few steps away.
Oh so yummy. Having worked in a restaurant a few years ago I discovered that most places, even high end restaurants, will sell desserts that are just boxed but you could tell that's not the case here.
Though it's more expensive than your average cafe or coffee shop you are paying for something that is homemade. -

Stumbled upon this place on my way to the tea store this one late afternoon. Once we got to the tea store we realized it was closed so we started walking down the market, and it started to rain really hard.
My friends and I were craving something warm to drink and some sweets as well as escape the rain, so we entered Oh So Good.
Love the ambiance. It's dim inside (candlelit), so I can totally picture this place to be a wonderful first date. It's cozy, it's intimate.
Place needs some repair and updating. The chairs were also really uncomfortable to sit on, which isn't ideal for a coffee house where people are expecting to lounge and relax.
My food and coffee didn't take long at all (like the other reviews I have read). My friends and I brought it to the back of the store, where there were a lot more tables. First time coming into the store, you wouldn't expect that there's a whole back space to it.
The front of the store looks more like a cafe, with smaller tables, and it's where all the desserts and coffee/tea is sold. If you want more of a lounge feel or you are with a big group, I suggest to head to the back.
Displayed at the back are paintings hanging on the wall, which you can purchase if you like it.
The cake was a bit overpriced (but still delicious), and the tea isn't anything you can't find elsewhere, but the ambiance it's really chill. If you are looking for desserts and coffee that open until late, this is the place to be! -

Went here for a sugar high on a cold week night. The place is a bit worn and could use some comfortable chairs and tables.
You have an option to sit at the front and order/pickup your food cafeteria style or sit at the back with table service. This is a good date place especially for a good conversation over some sugar treats or coffee.
The cakes are fresh and options are varied. I loved the choc truffle cake. If you are a fan of banana bread, try the choc banana cake....oh so good. The coffees and lattes are well done as well. My only complaint is that the place gets and feels a bit cold! -

Oh So Good is great in the winter time, though the decor is a bit dark and could use a bit more 'warmth', as their hard wooden tables and chairs can be a bit uncomfortable. They open late and close late.
I came here in January with a small group of friends after dinner. I had their white chocolate mocha and it was amazing! It was smooth, creamy, sweet, and frothy, and it was under $5. In addition to various coffees, they also offer a variety of sweets, such as cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, and other desserts. Their cheesecakes are rich and they have a pretty good selection of flavours, especially for chocolate lovers.
My cousin has a deathly peanut allergy and when we went in to ask about cross-contamination, the staff told us that unfortunately, they are unable to cater to those with nut allergies. -

I feel the name "Oh So Good" is a lot of pressure to put on a business. What if it is not oh so good? Imagine the ridicule. Luckily, Oh So Good measured up well enough to its name.
I like how you have the option of a sit down approach or café style. It all depends on what you want. I wanted my cake as fast as possible so we went with ordering at the counter and bringing the goodies to a table up front.
Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake- Delicious cake with a great crust on the bottom! Only complaint, the blueberry topping had a weird, gelatinous texture. The presentation was on point with the blueberry and lemon piped diagonally across the surface as well as heaps of whipped cream and chocolate sauce around the plate.
Key Lime Tart- The filling was so, so good. It had all the flavour of a key lime pie but was much more airy. The crust? Very hard. I don't like breaking desserts apart via stabbing them with a fork in my clenched fist. Pieces tend to go flying and needless to say, I left most of it on the plate. The presentation was equally cute though.
Is it oh so good? Yes, yes, bits and pieces of it are definitely up there. And I will definitely be back to try more of their expansive collection of cakes! -

BLECH! is all I can say.
I can remember in the day (about 5-8 years ago) this place was the bomb. The showcase would display the gorgeous, scrumptious looking cakes and you'd get your late and your huge piece of deliciousness and ENJOY. Well, my husband and I walked, looked around and walked right out. THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED 5 years ago! The display had crusty looking slices of cake and tarts - non of which looked delicious. The sitting area looked dirty. The ceiling is peeling off and it looked like a place you'd go buy drugs from the back instead of a cute little dessert and pastry shop.

Wow!! This place has the BEST ice tea. The italian soda is great here too!! I had the Key lime Pie, which was great, but my friend had some chocolate truffle cake which was 10 times better (I forget the name though...)
What a fun restaurant to satisfy your sweet tooth! -

Though I miss the old location with the walls of chalkboard and the occasional fortune teller session, the cakes are still delicious!
The market location is convenient and open late -perfect for after dinner dessert or an afternoon delight! The variety of cakes does take a little getting used to -I generally spend at least 5 mins looking over and considering all the options! The portions have gotten a little small compared to the price, but they're a great treat on occasion. I have had drinks with my sweets, but never anything more.
The service has been somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes they seem like customers are an intrusion on their day, while other times they are more than happy to help with difficult decisions!
Definitely worth a try, and if you can't set yourself on one choice, you can always share : ) -

to me this place is just ok. to me the slices of cake are not worth the price you have to pay. there aren't many dessert places open late in the market so i usually end up going here.
service is inconsistent (if you choose to sit in the back area). sometimes the waitstaff is really on the ball, sometimes you are left waiting a while.
the atmosphere is laid back, i find it rather cozy at night with the candles.
