Review from Laura P.
Off The Hanger came as a complete surprise to me. Not my usual turf, it was a trial run at the Smiling Goat that brought me to South Street's collection of shops.
I'm not sure if it was love at first sight... or more of an accumulation of lust throughout my visit. Whatever the case, this place was chock-full of my kinda spring shopping! I've come to expect a regular flooding of sundresses and cutesy tops during this time of year; however, Off The Hanger provided something different. Heart palpitations! Chic tunics, soft colour palates, off-kilter cuts, draping fabrics to make a girl melt. Clothes were romantic and lovely for the most part.
This was my first and only visit thus far, but I'm already impressed. The shop's kind service assured my many questions, and the seasoned selection was a complete blindside.
My name is Laura and I am a shopaholic. Eek!Listed in: Well Dressed

This fashionable clothing boutique does seem to be bursting with sale items these days. Not only was everything in the shop 20% off but there was also a large rack with items ranging from 50-70% off.
I admit, until today I had not been in Off the Hanger for a year or two. The last time I was in the prices were prohibitively expensive, so it's nice to see that the folks at Off the Hanger have started to sell some reasonably priced items. Brands like Kersh and Arson seemed to be on for good prices so be sure to check that out!
Purple leather bags by Samsra were particularly nice to look at! Overall, Off the Hanger is a good boutique to check out, especially for staples... Don't expect a lot in the way of originality though! -

The good first:
Off The Hanger has great clothes! I love their style. And their location is fantastic. I actually used to live in the very upscale apartment building that this store is beside. It felt great to walk out of my beautiful apartment whenever I wanted to and browse through this store.
But I never stayed in there for very long because...
First off the staff have always been way too pushy. They definitely want you to buy so they tell you every flattering thing they can about what you are trying on when the item you are trying on is definitely not for you. If you read my review of Le Chateau you would know I consider this the number one sin in the retail world.
Honesty brings in more clients. And it also helps people trust your business. And in this day and age, honesty is the number one selling feature in business. As an example, they tried to put my friend Charlene, who is a very fair skinned red head in a bright pink top. I mean I love fashion, but even if I didn't, I knew this was just wrong. So now she will never go back to the store.
Their prices are also very high but as I have said before they have a great selection of clothes. So if you can get through the pushy sales team and don't mind paying a bit too much for clothes you might find elsewhere, check this place out. -

I had a nice little browsing session this afternoon at Off the Hanger.
I am always pleased when clothing is presented in an organized accessible way, and that was just the case today. The shelves and racks weren't jam-packed, but weren't sparse either. I was greeted promptly and offered assistance, but not haggled in the least.
I saw some fantastic sales (tanks at 70% off/ jeans at 50% off) and the prices otherwise were decent. I thought that it would be over priced because of the location, in a row of boutique shops across from the public Gardens, but the prices were on par with other similar shops in Halifax.
I recommend Off the Hanger for trendy men's and women's fashions. There are lots of nice pieces at affordable prices - plus a pretty swell denim collection. -

Joshua Y. has had some bad service experience here, which is unfortunate, but on my last visit I browsed briefly without any hassling, just a polite welcome by the store's one employee on duty. She was busy giving an older woman a full rundown on their denim lines. I eavesdropped and overheard what sounded like a very well informed account.
As for the products themselves, I have strolled through this store a few times in the hopes that I'd find something interesting, but I think I'll just have to admit that it's not really for me.
