Three stars. Why? Because it does the trick. This is a gym, where I go to exercise, period. If you're clad head to toe in Lulu lemon, if you wear cologne to the gym, if you go to the gym to posture or for anything other than hard work, Odyssey's probably not for you. There is no hot towel service.
BUT,
-It's open 24/7. If I can't sleep and want to work out at midnight (it's happened), I can.
-The staff are friendly, knowledgable and cool. I was in on Tuesday, after slacking hard for two weeks, and the trainer working the front yelled "where the hell have YOU been?!" at me. Love it.
-There are change rooms with lockers - some rental, some available for the duration of a workout if you bring your own lock. There are showers, and toilets, and mirrors, and oftentimes free samples of shampoo/conditioner/pads/tampons.
-In the gym itself there is a women's only room with lots of free weights, stretch mats, almost all the machines you could want, bosu, swiss ball, resistance bands, ab mat.
-The rest of the gym has all the weights and equipment you could ask for. Even at the busiest (weekdays at 5:30, from what I can tell), there's always at least a couple of cardio machines free.
-There's water coolers/dispensers, a pop frig full of carbo-protein-electrolyte whatever drinks for sale, and a vending machine with more.
-there are three large tvs in the cardio area, and a remote to change the channels.
-it's always comfortably temperate in there.
-My only major drawback, and it is pretty frustrating, is that the machines seem to break down a lot, and when they do, Odyssey seems to take forever to get them fixed. It's pretty disheartening to see the same machine with an out of order sign for 2-3 weeks, or 2-3 machines out of order simultaneously all the time.
But for the most part, I'm damn happy here. The partons are friendly and working hard, the staff is friendly and smart, and I can go whenever I want. AND, it's pretty reasonably priced.
