My husband and I recently stayed at Oceanstone as part of our honeymoon and really enjoyed our time there.

We stayed in one of the cottages- Ocean Vista. Except for the furniture, it felt like it had been recently renovated. Nice soothing color palate that works perfectly for a beach cottage. The entire studio cottage was on the second floor (I think the first floor may be used for storage) and we had a stunning view of the rest of the grounds and the water.  We had a big tub that was outside the bathroom- not a hot tub, but it was a water-jet tub.

We spent a good amount of time on the deck in the Adirondack chairs reading and just sitting out there at night.

They give you old-school keys, too! It was funny having it jangle around in our bags.

The grounds are beautiful! There are gardens everywhere- both veggie and flower. Whoever tends them does a wonderful job!

Though we really enjoyed our time there, here were the low points:
-No wireless internet during our stay (not because we needed Facebook, but we wanted the convenience of Google maps and checking our email for reservations confirmations and other info)

-The mattress needs to be replaced. It sloped inward toward the center!

-Our kayaking was cancelled a few days prior to our visit. I'm guessing maybe an instructor left? We were offered free use of the equipment during our stay, though.

-There was a restaurant/cafe on site, which was really convenient since we had to drive to get to food otherwise. I say "was" because when we checked in, we were informed that it had closed for good a few days prior. That was a bummer.

Despite these hiccups, it was a nice stay. The people here generally have their act together- they were always quick to respond to emails and their website is pretty helpful. The staff was friendly. We'd definitely return!

Also of note: Your GPS might not find it. It might want to send you to the community of Peggy's Cove where the lighthouse is. You have to keep driving past there on Route 333 for another 2 miles or so! It'll be on the left.

This place was gorgeous and a lovely spot for a wedding celebration. The scenery is breathtaking, and the cottages scattered through the property are adorable. Little messages and snippets of poetry are pinned to the trees on the walkways, and the gardens and woods are impeccably maintained.

We were lucky enough to get a suite, with two bedrooms and a sitting area - more than the two of us needed, but would have been wonderful if travelling with a group.

The wedding was also lovely - the dining room and dance space were tastefully appointed and well-decorated and the food scrumptious.

I have to say that we had a few issues with the reservations and counter-staff, including a lack of familiarity with the wedding that was scheduled when reservations were made, some confusions around the bookings made, and a certain lack of courtesy. If we can get some of that resolved, I'll likely come back and add some more stars, but it added some stress and anxiety to what was otherwise a lovely weekend.

I recently spent 1.5 days at Oceanstone with colleagues for our annual corporate retreat/planning session.

I've been to a lot of meeting rooms and corporate resorts in the past few years, and I think Oceanstone is alright. The staff were friendly, the scenery is beautiful and the property is well kept. However, the rooms have thin walls, the food was sub-par (undercooked fish at one meal and bland overall), and as a meeting space, it didn't really cut the mustard.

I hate giving a two stars to a place that others have enjoyed, but I don't think that I'd choose Oceanstone again.

I experienced Oceanstone for the first time this summer at my cousin's wedding. Picturesque to say the least! Summertime cottages scatter along an upwards winding road, amongst wilderness and deep waters. Its an escape from reality at a mere 20 minute drive from  the city.

The wedding was a huge affair, booking out the entire retreat for a weekend. With the families and guests having full run of things, I was able to do a fair share of peeking around... and let me tell you: this place is serene.

Cottages varied in size and each had their very own sweet 'n' seaside title. (For example: "Periwinkle" and "The Captain's House") Decor was country chic, featuring vintage cabinets, rich wooden paneling, homemade quilts and so many other adorable quirks. Lodgings gave the feeling of home and a reflection of peaceful surroundings.

The reception hall was just as refined. Its Old Victorian style gave a real atmosphere to the event and was more of a home than a dining hall. Its prolific bar and french doors to the dining room highlighted such character.

Oceanstone isn't cheap but its an amazing escape from the everyday. Right off the water and secluded from outside influence, its wilderness is at your fingertips and one step closer to heaven. Swoon.
