Oyster for $1.75 During Happy Hour
Nice bar with open kitchen to watch chefs cooking seafood which is interesting. Fresh oysters are great, especially during their daily happy hour prices which also include half price sushi selections. The outside patio has high top tables and fun to watch the people parade on 5th. -

2nd stop of our bar hopping excursion.
Walking along Gaslamp, we encountered bouncers and/or hostesses yelling what drink or food specials they offered. The bouncer here told us $4 specials on shots and beers and so in we went giddy from our drinks from the last bar.
Ugh, upon walking in the smell of rank seafood mixed with body odor hit me. I sobered up immediately -_- My boyfriend went to the bar and ordered 2 Blue Moons and 2 Red-Headed Sluts. The beers came out to $4 each (a good sized glass of beers), but the shots were $8 each. When my boyfriend asked about the special, he was told the discounted shots were to be ordered from the other bar in the next room -_- We walked into the next room which had a dj and a dance floor. The stuffiness was unbearable as there was no fresh air or air conditioned air being circulated.
We quickly took our shots, chugged our beer, and left. -

Yeah the 2.5 stars are def deserving of this place. We wanted to eat oysters really badly and this was the only place we could find because the Escape Fish Bar place didnt have anymore oysters
We ordered our 80 oysters and waited pretty long to get them. When they finally came, no waitress explained which oysters were which to us. When we inquired about them they said they would bring someone else over to tell us which was which. By the time they came over, we had finished our crappily shucked oysters that had shells pieces in every single bite.
I think the hostess and waitresses are nice, but the oysters were pretty bad. They were dry and shriveled. We also wanted to watch the NBA playoffs as we waited it somehow got switched to Grey's Anatomy or something in the middle of the game. Totally killed it for me
Would not come to this place if you are looking to get some oysters. Maybe for a beer, on tap -

If you walk down Collin's Avenue in South Beach, Miami, FL, you'll be bombarded by 20-something sales people telling you all about drink specials at completely overpriced tourist-fare restaurants along the street. The food sucks and it's over priced. But you get a drink special. Deal, right?
San Diego's version of that gauntlet is 5th avenue. Chock full of tourist restaurants with low Yelp scores and incredibly packed restaurant spaces. The food we had here took for-fucking-ever. 45 minutes just for bread to come out. Hour and a half for food. Food was oily, bland, and easy to spot the taste the farm raised fish with bagged veggies. All for roughly $25-30+ a plate. No thanks.
The servers were nice and attentive with drinks, but holy God you are not getting your money's worth in this restaurant. Out of the entire meal I would recommend the lobster bisque, but then again you're going to pay $8 for a small cup of it. Blah.Listed in: Sandy Eggo

We saw mixed reviews on this place, but it was late on a weekday night and we were looking for a light dinner. We got a dozen oysters and shared a bowl of the seafood steamers. Both were great. We also got some bread for dipping. Yumm!!! I think the prices were fair and the service was good as well.

AMAZING SERVICE AND YUMMY FOOD:)! My boyfriend and I went to Ocean Room to celebrate our one year anniversary. Christian our waiter was AWESOME very attentive and provided great recommendations on what to get and our glasses were always half full! We had crab cake for an app and it was BOMB! My boyfriend was recently in Maryland and said the crab cakes were comparable to the crab cakes in MD. For dinner I ordered the seafood pasta and it was really good especially the shrimp! My boyfriend order the filet for dinner and regretted not getting seafood since mine was so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For dessert Christian our waited surprised us with a complimentary TIRAMISU it was so tasty and such a sweet gesture. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely go back again:)

So it is Mardi Gras, I am in San Diego for the first time, where to go? The Gaslamp of course, and lucky for me I am a block away.
So we headed off to find a place for dinner, and stumbled upon the Ocean Room. With the outdoor seating and incredible seafood menu, there was no doubt I was eating here (I am a seafood fiend!).
So we got a table outside right along the parade route. We watched the partygoers on the street, the dancers on the platforms, listened to music, and drank some great wine.
I of course went for something new, and something with the most seafood in it. The bouillabaisse. At $26.00 a pop I did think it odd to get what I though was soup, but oh boy it was so much more.
I would pay that again and again. You get a bowl of the most succulent broth filled with all kinds of seafood. It is an incredible meal and worth every penny.
This place is a must stop for the seafood aficionado out there. Take your sweat heart, grab a seat on the patio, and enjoy downtown San Diego at its finest. -

The honey and I were walking around downtown looking for a place to have dinner before the symphony on a Saturday night. I was in the mood for seafood and seeing "Ocean" in the name of the restaurant, I figured, this might be good. We took a quick look at the menu and decided to give it a try.
Once I saw bouillabaisse, I was sold. My honey wanted to order the halibut, but of course they were out, offering mahi mahi as a substitute. He opted for the Cajun Pasta and we ordered a caeser salad to split. We were there on the early side, around 6, so it wasn't too crazy busy yet. The bar was mostly full and the tables were beginning to fill up. We were seated right in the line of fire of the server station, so it was a lot traffic by our table, oh well. We nibbled on the bread while we waited for our entrees.
The salad was nothing special, a little overpriced for what you got. Obviously the thing that makes or breaks a caeser is the dressing and unfortunately, there was nothing special about this one. Our dinners arrived and my lovely b-base was calling to me. It was pretty good, the broth itself lacked a little substance, just a little more flavor it could have used. a few of my mussels and clams didn't open when being cooked so I was hesitant to try to eat them. I was kind of disappointed since it was half of the amount. I mentioned it to our waiter and he graciously ordered me some extra. Way more than I was expecting to make up the difference. Thank you. I would like to come back again and try the seafood salad and the lobster bisque. Chun P likes it, so it must be good! -

Nice place, excellent sushi right in the heart of the gaslamp. For apps we had the scallops which were great, although the portion left us wanting more. We also had a round of oyster shooters. For sushi, we ordered an assortment of rolls--all good but the highlights were the Ring of Fire (slightly spicy) and the Pizza Roll (served warm). The sashimi and ocean room rolls were also very good. We will return. Friendly server and lots of smiling faces.

Meh. Welcome to the Gaslamp's version of Red Lobster. Way overpriced for what you get - I'm talking quality not quantity. The servers are your typical B team that you would expect to find at a crap fest such as this.
Our server had the same lame shtick at each table - mix it up a bit, we can hear you. I ordered the lobster and steak special. Our server failed to mention the salad that comes with the special - we learned this from another server. I didn't bother asking as the food was taking forever and I didn't want to put a wrench in the plans. My lobster arrived with no melted butter, and my steak wasn't cooked to order. But considering our waiter was MIA and I was apathetic at this point, it didn't matter.
This is a good place to go if you have no palate. -

+1 good music (hip hop)
+1 strong drinks
i couldnt quite figure it out but i think it's two restaurants connected to each other? or maybe it's just one restaurant divided into two rooms?
definitely not one of the popular bars in the area, compared to the rowdy and crazy crowds from the corner bar just a couple doors down. -

I've been there twice, so it's not that bad. It just has this tourist trap vibe that lures people off the street.
Watch out for the happy hour menu. Not all sushi is 1/2 price. When I got my bill, none of it was. I brought it up to my waitress, and she said, "that wasn't explained to you?" I said, "you're my waitress. Did you explain it to me?" She did fix it.
The food is just okay. The sushi was kinda blah. The oyster shooters were just gross, full of soy sauce or something.
It is a nice spot to sit on the patio and people watch over a beer and dinner before a Padres game. I wouldn't make it a habit. -

We attempted to visit Ocean Room and it turned out to be the worst experience by far!
The hostess was extremely rude to my wife, absolutely no help, unable to even set a reservation for the place. Worst customer experience we've ever had the displeasure of dealing with will make sure to tell our friends to stay away.
I guess it may be a good thing we didn't because judging from the past reviews the food isn't worth the hassle in the first place!

My husband, Spencer H. reviewed Ocean Room the night we ate there; his review has much more detail...
My two cents: glad we had a coupon from http://restaurant.com, otherwise I would have been mortified paying full price for the quality. Maybe we didn't order the best items on the menu but I feel we tried several things that gave me a good indication that there is room for improvement. If you serve sushi, you best bet it be fresh and I didn't think it was as fresh as it could be. The filet wasn't properly cooked and had a peppercorn sauce with whole peppercorns. A little grinding would have gone a long way. I love pepper but not chunks of it stuck in my teeth.
$9 Grey Goose Martinis=no complaints for my beverage! -

i am only giving this place 3 stars because of the service. Our waitress Nicole was great even though she didn't bring us bread like every other customer seemed to receive. The food was 2 stars tops. Here is a break down of what we had.
Drinks - Him: Local Brewery IPA Her: Grey Goose Martini
Oyster Shooters - Way too much soy sauce, and missing ingredients listed on the menu, such as the tomatoes. Left a salt taste in my mouth for at least 10 minutes after.
Her: Seared albacore roll. Again missing ingredients not every piece was topped the same, which is odd since it is a roll.
Him: Volcano Roll. This roll was good, ive had better but no complaints.
We shared the filet entree, we asked for our steak medium rare which should be red and warm, but the meat color was pink as if cooked medium well, but the beef was soft like it was cooked right, really odd. The asparagus was way over cooked, and the carrots and broccoli were under cooked and under seasoned, and to top it off there was a spinach/lettuce mixture on the plate that we were really unsure what to do with. Also I found a wood sliver in one bite of my steak, not a huge deal, but not pleasant either.
I really wish I could give half stars because I feel like 3 stars is to much but 2 is to little. I would not return or recommend this establishment. -

very expensive for what you get. Had I not had a http://restaurant.com certificate it would have not been worth it. Calamari were not bad just a tad too greasy. lobster bisque was great. creamy with chunks of lobster best part of the meal. Steam mussels were very disappointing: tough chewy tasting old. the cocktail was just OK nothing special. wont come back here coupon or not. The servers were great bringing water and bread continuously. The waiter was not all that attentive

My wife and I wanted something nice/casual & seafood for our 15th wedding anniversary so I went online, did some research and for the price, location, and menu selection (I saw the seafood gumbo), I knew we had to try The Ocean Room! We were pretty excited...
Made reservations online, arrived ontime and was greeted nicely, seated immediately.
Our waitress was polite and quickly took our order, however the night then took a turn for the worse when after waiting an hour for our food, and noticing newer customers eating and leaving before us, we inquired about our order. Still assuming it was coming "any minute now" we were surprised to learn the chef never started on it...
After waiting on the manager for awhile, he finally came out and told us our food was coming in "about 5 min".
It came and I can only expect it was a rush job because quality and taste was borderline (I'm sure it could have been better).
Situation was preventable if only the waitress did her job & followed up on our order.
I will say that the Manager made it right by giving us the dinner for free. Therefore, we would give The Ocean Room another consideration in the future.
Price: Very Reasonable ****
Atmosphere: Decent, typical Gaslamp dining ***
Food: Fair ** (could have been 3)
Service: ** (courteous, but messed up on our orders) -

Completely disappointing, especially for the location and price. Don't go.
First, BAD food. We were a party of six and nobody was very happy with their food. Rubbery steamed mussels, and not very many of them either -- maybe a dozen in an entree order. The spinach salad consisted of some bagged spinach with a few cherry tomatoes and a sickly sweet pomegranate sauce. The cajun pasta was overly spicy. The gumbo was mediocre. I wasn't looking for creative or sophisticated cuisine; just some simple food that was well-executed. It's really hard to mess up steamed mussels. This restaurant completely ruined the dish.
Service was completely inattentive -- we asked the waitress for a place setting three times and then finally fetched one for ourselves -- and frankly, a bit low class in attitude. -

This place is terrible. Don't waste your time or your money!
Had reservations. Got there on time. There was only five other couples in the place, which makes me wonder why it took 55 minutes for our entree's to get to our table.
Their kids menu had three items. But they were out of one of them. When they came with my daughter's juice it was in a regular glass. Apparently they ran out of kids cups too. Why bother with a kids menu??
Waitress only checked on us twice during our wait. I had to ask for the bread that came with the entree once we were able to wave someone down AFTER we got our food. If you're going to make people wait while the place isn't busy at least offer your patrons some bread for God's sake!
Lastly, after an eternity when our entree's arrive, the food did not justify the wait to say the least. Bland and blah. Total waste of money.
If you want good service and great food, look elsewhere. -

Worst b-day ever. So much for a romantic meal with some romantic action later. Not after eating here.
It's unbelievable to me that a good restaurant would ever serve a dish that will knowingly poison you.
When you spend $28 for the fish entree "Escolar with lobster with cold vegetables none the less" you don't expect to get food poisioning but that is what happened.
Because the oils in that fish cannot be digested by humans, it's banned in a number of countries, including here a while back. Wish I would have known this before ordering. Now the FDA requires the fish have a warning label, unfortunately when you are ordering in a rest, they don't warn you. It's buyer beware. I should sue these guys.
So after spending almost $100 on our evening I ended up with bad cramps and yes orange oily discharge -yah you get the picture and it was not pretty. Pretty gross.
According to Wikopedia the fish Ocean Room knowingly served - "Escolar" has the following health effects:
Escolar's wax ester content can cause keriorrhea (Latin: flow of wax), gempylotoxism or gempylid fish poisoning [3]. Keriorrhea is similar to diarrhea, only the body will expel yellowish-orange drops of oil instead of liquid bowel movements. Some individuals suffering from escolar-induced keriorrhea also report other digestive issues, including stomach cramps, diarrhea, headaches, nausea, vomiting, and anal leakage; onset may occur between 30 minutes and 36 hours following consumption.[4]
I would never recommend this place to anyone, and on a busy saturday night it's not surprising that they couldn't fill the place. -

Totally agree with the other reviewers debating if this is an upscale seafood restaurant of a sports bar -- why so many TV's ruining my dining ambience? Not to mention; the MEGA screen in the back was showing a DOCUMENTARY ON CHILDREN WITH CANCER. After about fifteen minutes of my poor dining partners staring directly at the screen above and behind my head, we finally asked the waitress to please change the channel to anything else. She seemed shocked that the special was on ... we found it pretty blatantly hard to miss.
Or, maybe we just got off on the wrong foot, when we arrived at 7, having called the restaurant 3 hours earlier to change our reservation from 6:30 to 7. Upon giving our name, the hostess scowled at us and declared 'OH. You were supposed to be here at 630. We marked you down as a no-show.' We politely informed her we had, in fact, spoken to a member of the staff who had assured us not only would 7pm be fine, but they hadn't even had a record of us for a reservation at 6:30. After telling her this, the hostess got SUPER defensive, and it was a little awkward. Sorry?
Anyway, food was good, if not the *best thing ever* .... I ordered a dinner special which 'came with' cheesecake ... after eating my entree and ready for the dessert, only then did the waitress come out and say 'whoops! we're out! another dessert?' .... so ..... C minus at best on service.
Probably wouldn't come back. -

We had a great dinner at the Ocean Room! We had a http://restaurant.com gift certificate so we figured we'd give it a try on Sunday evening after seeing a play downtown. And it was the perfect ending to a perfect evening!
The place was pretty full when we got there at 6:30pm. We found a great seat outside so we could people watch while we ate. Chris was our server and although wasn't as attentive as I would have liked, he did make up for it by being super friendly and apologizing for not being attentive by offering to let us order the oysters and house glass of wine but substitute my boyfriend's Pinot for the house wine instead. He also bought us a round of drinks, knowing we had to wait for our refills.
First course was a dozen oysters and delicious! We got a sampling of all the different types and were given a soy sauce vinaigrette as well as cocktail sauce.
Dinner consisted of shrimp scampi for my man and the cioppino for me. Both were delicious! The seafood was well cooked and everything was seasoned perfectly. I was worried the shrimp scampi would be too rich but was balanced perfectly. My ciopinno was fantastic! Just the right amount of pasta (with left over bread for dipping, complimentary from earlier). I ate the entire thing and even took a spoon out to finish the broth!
I was pleasantly surprised by our delightful experience because I had read the yelp reviews before we went. And although we didn't partake in the happy hour, Mon- Fri from 4pm - till 6pm may be the next time you see me there! -

Arrived and was seated right away. Not hard when there is only one other group in the building. Hmmm.
I ordered sushi and a salad, and my husband ordered some seafood pasta dish. I saw the sushi man make a roll and set it up on the bar. And I watched that sushi plate for at least 20 minutes. Why? Oh, because they needed to bring me my salad first....my $9 SIDE salad. Wasn't expecting that, especially because there was only one price range for salads: $8-$9. Where are the entree-sized salads? Some of us like to eat those.
So 20+ minutes after the sushi was made, the waitress grabbed it from the bar, turned and walked the 3 steps to our table and delivered it to me. And it wasn't impressive. Even my husband (who isn't picky) wasn't thrilled. Bummer.
Overall, not impressed, won't be referring this place to others, and I won't be going back. Sorry Ocean Room. -

Had a $25 gift certificate (for $2) from http://restaurant.com so thought we'd try this place out. In a nutshell, if you're interested in going, go quickly because I don't think they'll be around much longer. At the height of the tourist season this summer we dined on a week night about 7:00 and left about 8:30. I think there were 6-7 tables taken up during that whole time.
We asked to seat inside near the window. Could have been my mistake because the window-side tables were tiny round things with very little room for anything but the plates and the glasses.
The single bright spot was our waitress. While new to the Ocean Room she was upbeat, pleasant and had a great attitude. She recommended the "bakes" so my wife ordered seafood gumbo and I ordered the combo bake. I envisioned that my seafood would be sauteed nicely and arrive in a nice tomato based light broth. No way. It was a muddled mess of an entree as was my wife's. Very heavy cream sauce with a few pieces of shell fish swimming around in it. The shrimp and crab were overcooked. The tails were left on the shrimp which is not unusual, but when it had to picked up through the heavy cream sauce, eating became a 3 napkin affair.
When the dishes were brought out there were no accompanying plates to dump the shells on nor did they bring a fork for picking the crab meat out. When WE asked they were promptly brought but now we're back to the small table problem. We had to stack stuff on the ledge next to us and maneuver around while eating a very messy dish.
In all an unsatisfying meal which was saved only by an energetic, if under-trained server. -

Review from Helena H.
So the reason I came in here to dine was because they have lobster bisque. Service started off slow, and it certainly was not a busy night. The food took longer than it should have and I think it was because the cooks were engaging in a conversation with 2 drunks at the bar trying to speak Japanese or something. Note: None of them were Japanese. Finally when the food came, the pan roast wasn't too bad, plenty of crab meat. Sushi wasn't my favorite. And the reason for us choosing this place, the lobster bisque...no bueno. Didn't even have lobster chucks at all. It had shrimp. We didn't eat much of it. At the end when we asked for the check, our server noticed we didn't touch it and asked us if there was something wrong with it. We said no, it just wasn't to our liking. Kudos to the server for taking out of our bill. They place has potential, but it needs more attention.

So I went back and forth between whether I should give this place 2 stars or 3 stars. But I decided to be nice and go with 3. Let's get started:
Pros:
1. Downtown, close to all the action if you are into that sorta thing.
2. Lobster bisque was delicious. I am very picky about my lobster bisque but it was good.
3. full bar
4.T'vs with the game, but the sound was not overpowering.
5. Use our http://restaurant.com gift cert.
6. Good martini.
Cons:
1. The service was slow and it was rather hard to get a hold of our hostess/waitress. They seemed understaffed.
2. Price and quality of sushi. It was OK but overpriced for the quality.
3.They seated us in the middle of the main room which meant we were in between the bar where servers were constantly picking up drinks and chatting with the bartender and some girls in a booth that were talking loudly about caddy matters.
4. It was so....blah. Atmosphere was boring and typical, the food was OK but nothing to rave about. The service was nowhere near exceptional and the whole experience was just mediocre.
I have to say that with all the restaurants in San Diego, and especially downtown, that my money would be better spent somewhere else. even with our gift cert. we walked out spending a nice chunk. If I were to summ this place up in one word or phrase I would have to say it was Ho Hum.
So We tried it only to find that maybe it deserves another chance, but it may be awhile before it gets that chance from us. How about you? -
Review from Jen S.
When I decided to eat here before it got too late, a waitress inside said they were closed and all the cook agreed. As I turn to leave the hostess and owner (?) reassured me they are open and I am promptly seated. WTF?! How bad is that when you don't even know your own restaurant's hours?! They did have a late night happy hour, but it was from 10 to 10:30, a full half hour before they closed.
I order a smoked salmon salad (7-8 sliced of smoked salmon, some asparugus, and a small pile of spinach) and steamed mussels (about 15 larger green mussels in a cream sauce) off the regular menu. Two oyster shooters (an extremely small oysters, the size of a clam, swimming in a large shot glass of ponzu and a touch of chili sauce) and an order of popcorn shrimp. The food was extremely average in terms of flavor and below average in terms of value. The above order with and ice tea was $38.05. Since I was the only person eating other than the cooks, as least the service was decent.
The whole Gaslamp district has been extremely disappointing. I am definitely going to ask the national convention not be held in San Diego for a long while! -

This place deserves more stars than it has. I think the problem is that the food is hit or miss. Some dishes are 5's, a few are 3's, but they have a bunch of 2's. We only did some sushi and appetizers and stayed away from the entrees.
Oysters=had tree varieties, all really good (5 stars)
Calamari = Fried well, good texture, too salty, below average sauce (3 stars)
Ahi Tuna Tartar = Nice presentation, crab was a little fishy, ahi was very good, flavors didn't quite mesh (2 stars)
Clam Steamers=Yum, really good, light garlic cream sauce/broth (5 stars)
Smoked Salmon Salad= not much of a salad, some salmon, spinach (few bad leaves), and asparagus. (2 stars)
Sushi Roll=had a couple, they're good, standard. (3 stars)
Sashimi=Really fresh fish, nothing exotic, what we had was good (5 stars) -

Sooo... restaurant by day/night club by night. Good location. Can't be all bad right?
Hmm. In the words of Jen S. yeah. no.
I was surprised this was downtown SD nightlife. It looks like they remove the dining tables & chairs and turn the lights off. Voila - a club.
The fact that they don't charge cover is not an upside. If I wanna go out downtown I'm dressed the part. This is not the right location for a dive bar.
But it helps that I was dressed as Curious George that night, and makes my memories of the place sweeter. Otherwise, it would probably be 2 stars. Sorry, Ocean Room. :( -

Granted, with a Japanese spouse, sushi standards are high in our family. The sushi rice wasn't seasoned and the rolls were just so-so. The service was good until we flashed our groupon, upon which our waitress was MIA and downright rude when we finally did get her attention (if you don't like groupon patrons, then the management shouldn't offer them!). Even with the discount, the food was overpriced for the quality. With the place sadly empty compared to the bustling restaurant adjacent, I can't see this place lasting long in the thriving Gaslamp district. We certainly won't be back.

The Ocean Room is definitely a "place to be seen" - the hostess was shocked that we didn't want to wait for an outside table. We were there for the food, but it was overpriced and forgettable. We had an albacore roll and pan-fried scallops. Portions were tiny for the $$. Oh well, we've tried it.
But if you want to nurse a cocktail at an outside table while watching people watching you, this might be your place. -

Date night with Paolo always means he's gonna feed me bomb ass food! This place was recommended to us from the locals downtown. Fortunately it was a beautiful Socal night so we sat at their outside patio. My Caesar salad was scrumptious... the Scallops appetizer melted in my mouth... the bread & butter was bomb cuz i dipped it in the white wine lemon garlic butter sauce... lets just say i killed it!

I assume this is your typical tourist trap (with me being the Chicagoan that fell for it, which could have been avoided if I would have consulted Yelp before deciding where I should eat, especially while out of town....lesson learned).
We were in town for the long weekend and obviously being in SoCal, we wanted some fresh seafood. We were pointed to Ocean Room by our concierge. The place was located on the main strip of the gaslamp, with ample outdoor seating and seemed to be pretty busy (granted it was a Saturday night). It took the waitress 20 minutes to finally come by and take our order, but that was fine we were having a good time people watching the passersby (from the homeless to the pedicabs to what seemed like every girl being a model in San Diego). The food was subpar, the mussels in white wine were ok for about the 8 we got in our order. We also ordered some sushi and nigiri, again mediocre and surprisingly our entrees (gumbo and salmon) were also....wait for it....mediocre. The problem was nothing tasted fresh. The salmon was way overcooked, the mussels were small and the serving size was small and the sushi could have been snatched up from a 7-11 cooler and thrown on a plate for us and we wouldn't have known the difference.
Prices weren't outrageous, but I would have gladly paid more for a quality meal. I honestly got a fresher, more satisfying meal at the fish taco spot down the street for $4....my new rule of thumb - trust the locals (and yelp), not your concierge -

By day, one half is a Mexican restaurant. (La Fiesta)
Not in the mood for heavy Mexican food for lunch or dinner?
Then how about Sushi?
Huh?
Yup, the other half the restaurant (separate door of course) is a Sushi restaurant! (Ocean Room)
Then at night, both the Mexican Restaurant and Sushi Restaurant transform into a bar and nightclub!
You got it all right here San Diego!
The Lounge is called Club 6 to 8. It was sparse with hardly anyone inside about 9:30 - 10:00 pm when we stumbled in after dining elsewhere.
The good news is there is no cover charge!
But by 11:00pm on, the place started to fill up, mostly with people who just like to dance rather than try to put on airs at one of those snootier cover charge clubs (you know who you are!).
Mostly a young Asian crowd here. There is a smoke machine that bellows out CO2 occasionally for mood, otherwise it is a no frills place that plays it good and funky with no dead spots.Listed in: Wanugee! San Diego, Wanugee! Bars and Lounges

Normally I wouldn't take a chance on a place with less than 3.5 Stars, but I needed a convient place for 3 to eat downtown and go drinking & clubbing afterwards...but most importantly, this place offers a $50 http://restaurant.com certificate for only $6 (use code FEAST) with a minimum $100 purchase. Yes, Chun P. the Coupon Whore $trikes again!!!
$7.50 Shrimp & Lobster Bisque: honestly the best Bisque ever! Unlike others, their take on this popular dish is very thick and meaty.(unfortunately I cannot describe myself in the same manner)
$25 Combo Roast: I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out just like the bisque, except larger, lighter and spicier in the cajun sense, all while loaded with shrimps and crab meat...deliciousness!
$26 Ocean Pasta: Generous portion of fresh fettuccine in a buttery sauce loaded with shrimps, crab, and scallops...very good! Apparently the "specials" include soup or salad too, so you're not stuck paying an extra $7.50.
They lost my reservation, but the nice hostess got us table anyway. Bus boys were quick and on their A game all night, but the waitress was nothing special. Interior decor could use help from the boys at Queer Eye for the Straight Guy(God I miss that show!). The back is very dark, but I guess that might be a good thing if your blind date doesn't quite turn out to be Taylor Lautner or Anne Hathaway.
Bathrooms: If the men's room was disgusting, I can only imagine the pain of the ladie's room which requires you gals to actually sit on the toilet. And I hate bathroom attendents!
Total food and drinks was $110 but knocked down to $60 with the http://restaurant.com gift cert...I'll be back for sure with another $50 Cert. -

DON'T EAT HERE!
Don't even look at it. What a terrible mistake.
Walking around Gaslamp, it's so hard to find a restaurant not knowing any of them. We decided to give this place a shot. Should have known by the shady looking hostess trying to get us to eat there.
Service sucked and the place felt really dirty. I asked for no parmesan in my cajun pasta because I hatteeee parmesan! Yes it's obvious that there was parmesan in my pasta. You can't miss the aroma of melted parmesan. It didn't even tasted cajun. It was just gross. The seafood was not fresh at all and I had to spit out a few of the mussels because it tasted like death.
The pan shrimp was not good either. The sauce, excuse me, soup was just over powering everything and they don't even give you enough rice to be able to fully enjoy the meal.
Don't come here! Luckily there was a ghiradellliss across the street to kiss the pain away. Nom nom to a hot fudge sundae! -

Prolly won't be coming back.
The service was good, except they messed up my order twice, (kitchen's fault) so i ended up not getting anything but my california roll and my oysters. I just couldn't wait for my food anymore. The server took the items off the bill tho, and still gave me them wrapped to go, which was nice. My friend got the salmon and said it was bland, nothing special.
The decor was pretty cool... good vibes. All in all, good place for happy hour oysters and drinks, but prolly not for an actual meal.
