Review from Chris B.
Vancouver, BC
I have just started seeing Dr. Brent Douglas but so far my experience has been much better than expected!
I have been casually searching for a Vancouver orthodontist for the past 2-3 years with plans to get my teeth fixed "one day." I had braces when I was 15 years old but refused to wear my retainer, and my teeth drifted a little bit as I got older. Now that I am 33, I thought it would be a good time to straighten out my little dental imperfections. I had heard about invisalign from my girlfriend and wanted to find out if I was a candidate, as not everybody is suited to it. Invisalign is essentially clear, almost invisible braces. I made an appointment to see Dr. Brent Douglas in February of 2009 at his office near Broadway and Oak in Vancouver.
His office is amazing and his staff are very friendly and accommodating while I filled out my initial paperwork. The view overlooking False Creek is second to none and the office is furnished with the most modern and advanced equipment that I have ever seen. The Nintendo Wii set-up in the waiting room is probably designed for kids but I had a blast playing it while I briefly waited for my appointment. The waiting room and reception area has a magazine rack with all of the greatest magazines including a good selection of golf magazines, not just 3 year old copies of Chatelaine that you find in most Vancouver orthodontist offices. There is a big screen TV and multiple video game consoles for the kids (and adults apparently).
After a short wait, it was time to see Dr. Brent Douglas and we got along great right off the bat. He is likely only 4 or 5 years older than me and is very personable. I had a significant amount of anxiety going to see an orthodontist and I was not looking forward to getting poked and prodded. My initial consultation went extremely well, and was totally painless and with minimal prodding. I was hooked up to a fancy x-ray machine and then we went over my results. I was informed that I have to get a cavity fixed before we could start impressions and move on to the next step. I was also informed of the costs for invisalign and the expected duration that I would have to wear them. While the cost for invisalign is not cheap, the quote was on par with what I have read about online at other Vancouver orthodontists.
I will update my review as I continue down the path to perfect teeth but so far, Dr. Brent Douglas and his office have exceeded my expectations!
