Ocean Bargain - Perhaps it's because my brother and his son/my nephew, affectionately known as The Bachelors, who both with their voracious appetites, eat like they'd just been released from a chain gang, frequent Ocean Garden so very often, that we were treated to a really nice and tasty meal of Chow Fun, Chow Mein, Salt & Pepper Seafood, and Peking Style Pork Chops. I'm uncertain if my bro spoke in some sort of special Ocean Gardenese or was just privy to the "special" menu, but the servings were well sized and priced, and as earlier mentioned, savoury. My brother's other handle is: Cheap (he prefers frugal, but I prefer the truth!), so if he likes the price and portion size, this has got to be the blue light special of Chinese cuisine in Vic. Again, it's another Chinese resto in need of some ambiance upgrades. Be aware, the SINGLE men's and women's washroom facilities, are situated upstairs, in a cramped and dilapidated hallway, that evokes memories of using the alternate bathroom in a Mother-In-Law's suite in a farmhouse, so maybe use the Starbucks' one instead.

Went here for lunch. The food was decent. Big portions great for large groups. We ordered the walnut prawns, lettuce wraps and hot and sour soup.

Overall, good experience, friendly staff but a little pricy.

This place made me think I was Bill Walton calling a Detroit Pistons game when Darko Milicic, the famed 1st round pick who was a massive bust, was in the game.

    "That was TERRRRRIBBBLLLEEE"

Or when Bill is calling a Lakers' game where his son, Luke, screws up again.

"Luke, I have failed you as a father".

Please don't eat here. There's a good reason why you don't see Chinese people inside eating. The wonton didn't taste like a wonton, the broth was neither clear or fresh and the noodle was over cooked.

Is it wheelchair accessible? I hope not! At least it saves them the horror of eating here.

Went here after a long day of touristing around Victoria thinking we'd pick up a quick Chinese meal.  We didn't go in with high expectations but from the moment we were seated things didn't look good.  The guy next to us was brought out a dish with some nasty looking canned peas which he promptly refused.  Then after a long wait the waiter brought us some tea.  From there we continued to sit idly with no water and no service.  After the waiter decided to come take the order of the family who sat down right next to use we decided we had had enough of their terrible service.

I can't even speak to the quality of the food but if it's anything like how they treat their customers the possibilities aren't promising.

We actually ate here when in Victoria in September but it was not until I went back this week and walked past there that I could write the review as I had forgotten the name of the place.

So what I can recall is that there was no one in there at dinner hour when we were there, my first clue.  Despite this our food took a long time, a simple veggie and tofu dish which was so- so until I was almost done and found hair in my the one dish.
    yech!

During a visit to Victoria, we decided to checkout Chinatown and eat lunch.  Ocean Garden is in a prominent spot by the Chinatown gates.  So, eh, why not?  It was filled with non-Asian people - usually a bad sign.  Well, it was rather average.  Probably what you'd expect for a place catering to tourists.  Still, it wasn't the worst Chinese food I've had.  I'd go for the black bean sauce & garlic dishes - usually can't go wrong with those.  I also had the wonton mein soup - this could be skipped.  The noodles weren't great and the broth bland.  Price is ok.  There are probably better places to go for Chinese food in Victoria...
