Oakridge... is  a mall thats not too small.

Actually it's classy. I love it. I visited my lovely friend Motoka the Chanel girl  there for sushi lunch. Sushi togo is yum yum yum.

    That's it...

Oakridge has been around for a long time.  It's pretty much a Vancouver institution.

Parking isn't too bad depending on the day of the week, but on weekends, the parking lot can seriously fill up, meaning that you have to drive up a few levels. However, I have never seen the lot at 100% capacity, which is a good thing.

Stores here come and go, but the anchors (Safeway and Bay) have been around forever.  One of the latest additions is of course the Apple store.

It's hard to imagine that 30 years ago, this place was an outdoor mall. You can kind of tell though, based on the flooring the way the storefronts are styled.  I agree with the comments about the interior being dated.  The place pretty much looks identical to what you would've found in the 1980s.

Oakridge has been around for as long as I can remember. When I was lil kid I was playing in the kid area when they still had that blue mountain thing you could go through. My parents and I used to eat at the Eatons (now The Bay) and Woolwards during the winter time.

Now Oakridge is full of contemporary stores - some come and go, but others live to see another day. My favourite spots in Oakridge are:

    1) St. Germain's Bakery - they have delicious buns and about an hour before closing time their pastries go for 50%!

    2) Jacob - because I find their sale area the most neatest and laid out well of all the ones in the lower mainland (I'm weird, yes).

    3) Purdy's which I always took for granted until someone told me that it was a very Vancouver thing! Love the hedgehogs and the smiley face lollipops make my day!

    4) David's Tea. I love David's Tea. I wish they had more seating so I could sit and enjoy one of their millions of teas.

    5) Sunken Area near Banana Republic. When I used to work at the mall, I loved taking my break there - either reading or just sitting. It's a great place to people watch but also to get away from the crowds.

Of all the malls in the Lower mainland, this is one of my favorites.  Oakridge isn't a huge mall like Metrotown, but this doesn't mean it won't have what you need.  Oakridge has a great selection of every type of shop: trendier clothing stores (i.e. Banana Republic, DKNY, Aritzia), higher end clothes (i.e. Armani, Lacoste, BCBG), department stores, tea shops and so on.

Conveniently located on the Canada line at the 41st street station, it's very easy to get to.  If you feel inclined to drive, there is plenty of parking outside and in the underground parking.  I find most people feel the desire to park outside, making the mall appear that it will be incredibly busy inside, but I typically find there's still lots of parking underground.  So, don't be discouraged if you can't find parking outside, try underground in their parkade, I'm sure you'll have more success.

Oakridge Centre has all the main shops other bigger malls have. However, from my experiences, I have found Oakridge Centre to be much less crowded/busy than many of the other malls in Vancouver (i.e. Metrotown or Pacific Centre Mall) on the same day. This is great for when you want a changing room, or to try a product and you don't have a tonne of people in front of you or waiting behind (I'm looking at you Apple Store, which is a lot less busy in Oakridge). Additionally, I also find that many of the stores in Oakridge have more stock/are not as picked over.  My finacee has noticed the same thing was she's picked up items at Lululemon (they almost always have her size in stock and most likely in multiple colours).  For me, the Murchie's teas or EB Games have always had the item I wanted in stock.

The food court has your standard selection of foods. However, there are several food-based stores scattered throughout the mall for you to find things (i.e. David's teas, St. Germaine Bakery).

Overall, I prefer Oakridge to many of the other malls since they have all the shops I would need and all the shops I would want, while being less crowded and having a good stock of products in their stores.  This is definitely my go to mall in Vancouver.

Wow, what a change this place has had since my last visit. New food court washrooms and high end shops. Do I even need to go downtown any more?

Of course the mall still feels like a mix of customers from both sides of Vancouver, East & West. But the retail shops are improving which is nice. I never felt that Oakridge Centre should have low end shops in there but with its location, it's hard not to have at least a few.

Used to hang out here back in the day when I lived in the neighbourhood and was sad to see the movie theatres gone. I don't think there are any close by any longer. Still a small mall when comparing it to Metro Town or what ever it's called these days but a much better shopping experience. I'll take Oakridge over Metro any day.

Food court has a good selection and the Safeway is still there for groceries. Still prefer to visit here during the week days when it's not as busy. Crowds just make shopping an ordeal if you know what I mean.

The one thing that has always been perceived is that Oakridge is in some ways an Elitest, High End mall, known for being located in an area that is filled with over million dollar houses and expensive shops this mall definitely carries a reputation. In some ways Oakridge also has an identity crisis, of having some real high end shops, and some shops, or stores that just don't mesh with what their 'vision' if you call it that..... actually is.

This is one of those malls that has never really grown in size ever since it was built (rumour has it that it is finally getting an expansion). Most people who have had their childhood in the Lower Mainland have some found vivid memory of this mall. For me (and this is really dating myself) where the food court is located right now, I remember a store called Abercrombie & Fitch, where it was such a novelty store (not the over cologned store many of you are thinking about that sells close, and that as long as you had a nose that could smell, or a cold, the scent would pierce right through that!) as they had leather elephants I used to hop on when I was young. I still remember the Marks & Spencer, and then later on there was a Pet Habitat and music store that are no longer there. There used to be the big Woodwards department store, and a big Superstar where the food court was. Many changes over the years, and many styles of stores have been funneled out, as this is the Cadillac Fairview group, who does not like to renew leases, and wants to have a higher echelon group of stores in their shopping centres!

It is 2012, and due to the 'big screen, big sound' of the big Silver City style of theatres, the small theatres here have closed their screens for good as of January 2, 2012. Amazing how the hairdresser beside them is still around after all this time. White Spot has been a staple to this mall, and even though I do not consider their food 'high-end' their prices are 'high-end' enough to justify them staying put. As in my other review, I still do not understand why they are where they are, but it probably has something to do with big brother (The Bay) being next door.

The parking is wonderful here, as it is abundant, all over the mall, at every angle. If you know the 'in's-and-out's' of this place, it is not hard getting in, and also getting to the right exit, direction and street you want to go to. If your looking for deals, this mall has some, but really not many, and even though it is a high end mall with high end shops (Tiffany's, Hugo Boss, Coach, etc, etc, etc) you may be sent into downtown, as most likely due to traffic, they don't get as much stuff as the downtown stores do.

It's an odd type of mall in my opinion, I work close, so I frequent this quite often, and even I get bored as there is not much variety of stuff here, but it is very accesible to say the least.

Used to be a mall rat so I use to come here every week and always come out with a package. Now it's not so easy as most stores are high end and I only come here when there is a sale, like boxing day. You get great brands like Lululemon, Browns, DKNY, BCBG, Banana Republic. This mall is a nice size, not huge like Metrotown so it's an easy stroll.

By the way, Santa is still there and soon they will have the kids choir singing Christmas carols...so Warm and fuzzy

Pretty nice mall and I am not a mall person. It isn't too large and has just about anything you could want. A big plus being that the skytrain station is RIGHT THERE. There is even a Tiffany's, if you can afford it. I would say the most stand out feature of the whole place has got to be the bathrooms in the food court. WOWO! I have never been in public restrooms that nice!

Probably the nicest shopping mall in the greater Vancouver area.  Easy skytrain access and good parking.  Great selection of stores for all budgets.  My faves are Coach, Banana Republic, Geoxx, Tommy Bahama and Olsen.  Kid area(s).  Could use a nice restaurant, but there are decent options in the area.  BTW, they are having some great sales right now.

    The good:

    Plenty of parking
    Spacious and open
    Clean and nicely decorated
    Bright, pleasant...
    David's Tea!
I don't leave with that "I've spent my afternoon in a dungeon" feeling.

The 'not bad, but not for me':

High end stores (few real deals if that's how you like to shop)
The lady dressed in a frock and bonnet at the piano during Christmas shopping season who sang Christmas songs by request. She was very sweet but the cheesiness of it all gave me a rash.

If you've a hankering for high end brands like Banana Republic, BCBG, Benneton etc., then this is a great place to visit.

Maybe I just wish I was their target ; )

In my opinion, this is one of the only shopping centers that has remained relatively unchanged for the time I've been there. I'm certainly thankful for this fact, because when it comes to malls, Oakridge center is one of the best.

Let's start with the stores. The selection is admirable, especially for a place located in the middle of Vancouver. Physically, the mall is not very big, which makes the fact that they can even fit so many different brand names under one roof ever more impressive. Oakridge center is also home to one of three Apple Stores in Vancouver, which is icing on the cake.

Parking is easy. There are a lot of space underneath the mall, though on rainy days you may have to struggle. I've never been to the movie theater, but the mall has enough stuff to keep you occupied without it. The Vancouver Public Library (Oakridge Branch) is also located close to the mall, so when your legs gets tired, you can always go, rest up, and read a good book.

Apart from that, the hours are good. They've done away with the live piano player and replaced the position with an automatic piano, which is a shame. I had wanted the job. There are also plenty of places outside of the food court to sit, which is becoming increasingly rare in malls these days.

All in all? Visit. You shouldn't be disappointed.

My first time that I remember coming to Oakridge mall was in 1971.  I was waiting in line to see Santa Claus and his reindeer next to the Woodwards food store while singing to Popeye the Sailor Man. Toot Toot !!

Wow memories never really seemed to fade when it came to this mall.
The transitions and growth that this mall has gone through over the decades and it's still one of my favourite places to shop.

Alot of higher end boutiques still sell their goods here, along with big name brands and designer goodies.  Woodwards is long gone and now it's a Bay, and Safeway in it's place.  Maybe even the Zellers might end up making way for a Target, but who knows.  The Mall will still be here for decades more.

    I am fan.

As a guy, going shopping sucks (obviously). I avoid Metrotown at all costs. Packed with mall rats and stale air that always gives me headaches, it's torture. Not to mention one of the worst design layouts ever.

Anyhow, enough venting. Oakridge is relaxing. Never anywhere near as busy as Metrotown with an outside mall feel, I can shop without having the urge to drink.

Bonus points for the proximity of the Canada Line station without a packed overhead walkway.

My fave mall but not really for the shopping. I hardly ever buy anything there. I just like the ambience. The fact the mall is not full of loudmouth yahoos or giant fashion-challenged blobs.

I like going to the movie theatre there even though it is never busy so I have no idea how they can stay in business. The food court has pretty good food and great layout for its ilk. Throw in a library attached to the mall and loads of parking for those who drive, hey, it works for me.

The location is also good esp. with a Canada Line station now there.

Oakridge is probably one of the most high-end malls in Vancouver. It's got big name stores like French Connection, Kris + Cris, MaxMara, and Edward Chapman. I actually used to work in this mall once, and I'm pretty sure my addiction to shopping can be traced back to this place.

It's definitely somewhere to go if you want to break open the bank account and spoil yourself rotten. My personal favorite? The Godiva store -- forget the brand name shoes and clothes, and gimme the expensive chocolate. Now!

Seriously though, this mall is a bit expensive for my tastes. I prefer Metrotown in Burnaby, because it's more affordable, and it's bigger, so you get more selection. If I wanted to spend a ridiculous amount of money on meaningless stuff, I'd just go straight to Robson Street.

This is probably one of the last classic Vancouver malls that looked exactly the same as it did back when it first opened. There has been zero renovations done at this mall, so this mall feels quite dated. Due to the fact that the lighting in the mall comes mostly from sunlight from the glass panels on the skylight, this malls feels very grey. Oakridge mall should be known more as Overcast Centre.

This is a small food court and there is a Safeway which sells seriously overpriced food and produce.

This mall caters mostly to the higher end consumers, so it's window shopping for most people unless you should at Zellers, The Bay, or The Gap for clothing.

Oakridge Mall also caters to mostly to the older crowd, like 50 and older as you won't find an arcade, child daycare centres, or there are barely any children's clothing stores.

A small mall, but with actual good shops. Bright interior with skylights, nice design of the mall so that one can actually shop in one loop, without skipping any stores.

Harry Rosen, Hugo Boss, and Lacoste when shopping for the man, and DKNY, Coach, Aritzia, Marciano, Lululemon, BCBG, Michael Kors for the woman.

A newly renovated Blue Ruby, Aldo, and a Murale cosmetics shop (mimics Sephora, but not the same.)

Department stores-there's a Bay and Zellers, which always seem to carry quite the selection, but no one really shops there, so they're actually more likely to have your size.

I like how there's a Safeway attached, so I can do some grocery shopping after I do some shopping. (Yes, it's lots of shopping, but it must be done.)

There's also a White Spot attached, and a large food court with quite the selection and that's about it for food.

Always lots of parking available, and conveniently located at a Canada Line Station (Oakridge Station).

When I don't want to be overwhelmed by those large malls and want to do some serious high end shopping, this is my mall to go to!!

I'm not a fan of Oakridge. Any trip here tends to be fruitless, but maybe that's because I tend to fall on the thrifty side of things and that doesn't jive with the higher-end stores. Also, the food court doesn't have a Dairy Queen, which is my number one treat for surviving a shopping excursion.

There seems to be a dualism here: the high-end fashion stores on one side, the aging movie theater and lack-luster food court on the other. I'll give Oakridge credit for being the perfect size, however. It's just large enough that there are a few big stores that offer essential items with good selection, some nice small stores, and plenty of parking.

It's also one of Vancouver's less-visited malls (in my estimation), so it's a good bet for any grouch shoppers who hate crowds.

Closer than Richmond Centre or Burnaby's Metrotown, and easier to navigate than downtown's Pacific Centre, Oakridge is one of my shopping mall staples. Housing over 150 stores and services, many of them higher-end and related to women's fashion and accessories, plus tons of unique gift ware, it's a great place to go when you need to find an outfit fast or birthday present on the fly.

So just what kind of "high-end" shops will you find? For women, Oakridge offers boutiques like MaxMara, BCBG, Aritzia, Edward Chapman Ladies Shop (check out their amazing Burberry selection), Zioni, Benetton, and bebe, to name a few. Men can also go fashion forward at Oakridge, with shops like Boys Co, Hugo Boss, and Harry Rosen. Unisex retailers include Banana Republic, lululemon, and Lacoste. Bling-wise, choose from jewellers like Birks, Swarovski, and Rodeo. And let's not forget the shoes: Try Coach, Nine West, Browns, and Kris + Cris.

All that shopping makes a girl hungry. Oakridge includes a sizable Safeway and generous food court. The mall is also home to a cinema, bank, and various health-related services.

Oakridge has always been that mall I go to when I want to treat myself to something... It plays host to a good chunk of stores (especially some high end ones ---- ummmm... can you say Michael Kors?!!!). But even if high end is not your thing, Oakridge still may be of interest to you. It has one of the biggest Aritzia's; in addition it has Browns (oh how i heart those shoes), Coach, Tru Drama, Harry Rosen, and Blue Ruby.

And in a few months or so (hopefully), Oakridge will officially be sky train accessible!! Yay!!

Oakridge Centre has undergone so many renovations over the years and it doesn't appear to be stopping any time soon. Does anyone else recall the old food court? And Marks & Spencer!? Woodward's? And when Aritzia was a jeweled shoebox of a store where only the cool sixteen-year-olds went?

Since those days, Oakridge Centre has reinvented itself as an upscale mall: Aritzia has moved and expanded, Woodward's was divvied up between Zellers and the Bay, and the old stationary store has been replaced with MaxMara. The only things that remain unchanged are White Spot and the theatres. Brands like Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Monte Cristo and BCBG Max Azria have contributed to Oakridge's new face.

Like most malls, Oakridge is a good one-stop spot for most of your material needs. The building is beautiful and with its carpeted playground and upcoming visit with Santa Claus, it's child-friendly too.

Oakridge mall sucks! Bites the bullet! Not dope! Anyway you want to put it....do people really shop here?
Oh sure, as long as you frequent Coach, Hugo Boss, Guess, United Colours of Benetton. I could go on but it is too painful.
Oh yeah I worked in the mall temping at one point so I know first hand it is all an illusion. During the week I could play a mean 10 pin down the mall corridors. It is dead people and they really only play catch up on the weekend.
Lets not talk about the food court. You will never, I repeat never get a seat so don't bother. Nothing against the elderly but it is a well documented fact that they camp out at the tables in the food court. You wlll see the same faces at 9 am as you will at 5 pm. I kid you not.
Because of the type of stores contained in the mall, the sales staff are very stuffy, especially the women. Like I said I worked there so I experienced their indifference many a time.
Starbucks, shocker is there but hands-down worse outlet ever, I have had more screwed up coffees there than I care to remember.
    Yeah, Oakridge sucks!
