This is a Brazilian place that I've discovered a while ago. "O Kilo", which translates to "The kilogram", is how restaurants like this -- buffets in which you pay according to the weight of your food -- are known in Brazil. Small places like these are absolutely everywhere, and it seems that they are now in Toronto.
However, I never tried their buffet. I go there because of their snacks, especially the "pastel". The pastel is not just good because we're in Canada and it's the only place to get it... it's the kind of pastel where you don't mind that it's not stuffed with meat because the dough is so good. There's the meat pastel, the cheese pastel, the "pizza" pastel and I guess there are sweet ones as well (I never liked them so I don't remember).
They also have good coxinhas, good desserts and the usual stuff you can find at this part of town (guaraná Antarctica, Brazilian sweets like Sonho de Valsa, etc).
Things to improve: we know that it's a Brazilian place. The colours on the walls are already green and yellow. Do we really need Brazilian flag tablecloth? Also, as I mentioned, I don't try their buffet because it really doesn't like that appetizing. Maybe it's because I always go there on late afternoons, by the time food is stale...
If it wasn't for the people there, that are always nice, and of course, the pastel, that is awesome, I'd give them 3 stars.Listed in: Brazilians never quit
