This place seriously has to promote itself better. In the past, my roommate and I tried to guess what the store was all about judging by that terrible sign. We assumed nuts, but its lack of homeyness didn't suggest it was a place that sold or served food (maybe old 70s furniture or life insurance?). After a few moments of speculation passed, we passed by and changed the subject. What a mistake!

The only reason I tried this small cafe/bulk food store today was because I read Jason D's review below and discovered what it was. I wasn't disappointed. I got a delicious vegetarian sandwich made with fresh bread, eggs, mushrooms, dried blackberries, spinach and various other ingredients. It sounds weird, but it was actually really good. Their sandwiches aren't too expensive ($6) and the price of the desserts($2-$5) and some of the bulk food runs a little high, but it's not unreasonable. The counter person was also super sweet. I'll definitely come back again.

Next time you have the munchies, you HAVE to head over to Nuts About Life. On one side of the store is a gourmet sandwich and dessert counter. Everything looks homemade - the brie sandwich, for example, has HUGE slices of brie. It would be the sandwich your momma would make for you. On the other side of the store are bins of bulk snacks. They have dried fruits, nuts and a selection of tasty things all covered in chocolate - espresso beans, cranberries, blue berries, etc. Keep an eye on the price tags on each bin - the sugar free chocolate covered espresso beans, for instance, are $17 a pound! Don't expect much in terms of decor - Nuts About Life is brand new and looks a little vacant on the inside. Plus, currently there is only one table, so if you plan to savour your meal as you gaze out onto Bank Street, you'd better get there early.
