I bought my Tiguan at Northland Volkswagen and can't complain on that end, but I do have a big problem with their service. Every time I take it in for an oil change, which is usually less than the 8000km required, they tell me I need "extra" work done! When it's done, it ends up costing me $500-$800 dollars!!!! It is very frustrating. How do I know first of all if it needs to be done or if they are even doing it.

Sales is good - service is poor.
After driving Volkswagen for all our life, this dealership managed to make my wife not buying a Volkswagen anymore.
We had a very nice experience during the acquisition of our new car. The trouble started with the maintenance:
* We never got our car back the same day as promised while dropping it in the morning.
* The service plan they offer ('A', 'B', 'C', 'D'-service - one service every 8tkm) has nothing in common with the original VW-Canada maintenance manual (15tkm service interval, different content per service)
* They do not know the cars they sell and offer 'fixed price service' just to find out that they miss the half and you pay 50% more than the 'fixed price' at the end
To be fair: The maintenance was done pretty well and I can not complain about the quality.
The service offers and the communication is what makes things bad as they are. After I complained they told me 'the technology is brand new and we have no experience with the car yet'. This is honest but I do not want to pay the bill for that lack of experience.
A while ago I inquired about my next maintenance due, described what needed to be done and asked for a quote. I got appointments offered for the maintenance but I never got a quote ...
