Northgate Centre might be a crappy mall, but Northgate Art & Frame is one of the best stores in this mall. They do custom framing and mat cutting, and they also sell many large pieces of art, like paintings.
The best thing about this store is that they don't sell cheesy art like wolves running in a snow-covered forest or eagles soaring through the sky. They sell unique, contemporary art, many of which are original paintings. I saw one piece here that I absolutely fell in love with. It was a painting of New York's Times Square, but it looked sort of blurred, and the colours were muted--it was really cool.
Most of the large pieces were already stretched or framed and were priced at $200-$300+, but I have worked in custom framing before, and I know that this is not a rip-off. Original art might be pricey, but custom framing is also very expensive.
If you're looking for some new art pieces or just need something framed, I would definitely recommend this store.
