I discovered Cole and Jakob while looking for Vancouver based Wedding photography on relatively short notice. Their style of photography and obvious passion for weddings based on their website is what drew me to contact them from all the way in Halifax.

I had a somewhat unorthodox list of requests for them, as Tara and were eloping, it would just be the two of us and our marriage commissioner for the event, and because we were both from out of town we didn't know Vancouver very well. Thankfully for Tara and I we were getting married on a Tuesday and Jakob and Cole were available.

Jakob and Cole responded to my email inquiry right away. Their friendly professionalism and prompt replies were always sincere and appreciated. They asked all of the right questions about our wedding day and went way above and beyond for us.

Tara and I met Cole and Jakob in person the day before we were married once we arrived in Vancouver and both set us at ease with our first impression. Neither of us were accustomed to having our photographs taken and were a little nervous about so much camera attention, but we needn't have worried.

Jakob and Cole contributed much more to our elopement than we could have dreamed asking for. They captured the important moments of our day, recommended an incredible and unusual location for our wedding ceremony, and acted as our formal witnesses for the ceremony. Their insight and recommendations for our portraits were second to none. Tara and I didn't hesitate to trust their judgement and we have no regrets.

Our slideshow and photographs from our day are incredible. They capture the love between the two of us, and have allowed us to share our wedding day with our friends and family who weren't there with us in person. Cole and Jakob think way outside the "wedding photography box" and make you feel at ease in the process. They get two thumbs WAY up from both Tara and I.

    Dear Jakob and Cole...

Yes I know this is supposed to be a review of how my experience was when you spent the day with me and Meegan on the day of our wedding but it seems so formal...

You came to us as photographers but left as so much more. I know I'm not the first person to come to you and say "Hey, I don't like having my picture taken" along with "oh and we're eloping so don't post any of the pictures just yet" added with a "by the way we're two girls" and just to make it fun and exciting throw in a "could you be our witnesses to the ceremony"...

Oh wait, we were the first couple to say all those things combined?

Your level of professionalism weaved in with your friendly personalities (and kick ass smiles) made my day not only care free but in the end I had a great time having the hundreds and hundreds of pictures taken of me (I never thought I would say that).

The end result melts my heart each and every time I look at the photos and listen to the songs you matched with the video. Seriously you two, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Thank you for capturing my love for Meegan in ways I couldn't see from my own eyes without the help of your pictures.

~ Tara (the American that fell in love with the Canadian)

P.S. I still say "that's the money" every third sentence!

    Wow. Just... wow.

There are so many things I want to say about Nordica Photography. Professional, adventurous, funky, respectful, cool, funny, talented... I could go on for ages. I will simply say that they made every fear and insecurity about my photogenic abilities disappear the second I met them. These guys are way more adventurous than most photographers and they see amazing shots where no one else would even THINK to look. These guys take risks I've never seen before at weddings and they will catch the special shot that other photographers would miss.

A lot of the photographers I've talked to and checked out don't like doing weddings. They often use weddings to supplement their income until they can finally support themself off of "professional" shoots. Jakob and Cole, on the other hand, shoot weddings because they love to. In fact, that's all they have in their portfolio! Their love of creating art out of an incredible wedding day truly shows in their photos. They actually care about the couple and truly understand what an important part they play on a couple's wedding day. Think about it: The average wedding costs $15,000... for ONE day!! All of that time and money being poured into one single 24 hour period and all you have left to remember the most important day of your life is the photos... oh, and the husband... You want photographers who appreciate what this day means to you and the guys at Nordica understand completely.

We scored a great deal on an engagement shoot with Nordica thanks to http://SocialShopper.com. On the day of our shoot in East Van it was pouring rain. Obviously, I was freaking out thinking that our shoot would be a miserable day for all and we would have nothing good to take from it. Now I actually laugh how absolutely ridiculous I was.

We were shooting outdoors for the whole thing in a very gritty East Van neighbourhood and I was horrified at the thought of looking like a drowned rat. The second that Cole and Jakob showed up, totally calm and put together I was immediately relaxed. Their personalities calmed me right down and I realized I was in some very capable hands. In fact, they were actually looking forward to the shoot! Even though it was pouring out! They explained that we would be taking a little walk around the neighbourhood and that we should just relax and have fun. They would do all of the heavy lifting.

We started out a little nervous and they kept telling us to ignore them but come on! There were two guys taking pictures of us! We felt so strange but within seconds it was just my fiancee and I taking a walk around a strange neighbourhood... and randomly making out lol

Cole and Jakob had an awesome sense of humour. They made us laugh multiple times and every time they asked us to smile, it was never fake. The hard part was trying to do our serious faces! We were having such a great time it was hard to hide our grins. They gently guided us to certain places and then let us interact like normal. There was absolutely no pressure and I never felt awkward or silly once. It was an incredible experience.

I emailed them a few hours after the session and thanked them profusely for how amazing they were and they surprised us by giving us a little snippet of their work the day after the shoot! Lucky us!

My initial reaction to the photos they took of us was pure and unadulterated shock. HOW DID THEY MAKE US LOOK SO DAMN GOOD?! It was like magic! I felt all soggy and drippy but in the pictures I looked glamorous and more beautiful then I ever thought possible. The shots they took were genuine works of art. They were creative and adventurous. Like nothing I've ever seen before! They are so amazing I am almost at a loss for words... almost. They were everything I ever wanted and so much more.

The talent and creativity of these two men is mindblowing. They are so unassuming and normal that you couldn't imagine that such genuine genius could be contained in these seemingly regular guys! The shots they took were risky and exciting yet absolutely stunning.

Somehow they took a simple picture of me and my fiancee and turned it into a work of art. I can actually imagine OTHER people hanging these pictures of us on their walls. Amazing.

So, do I recommend these guys? Obviously. In fact, if you even hesitate to hire them then you are nuts.

I discovered Cole and Jakob well over a year ago when they launched a Social Media photography package. I knew immediately that I needed to jump on board and be one of the first!

Although Nordica is known primarily for their wedding photography, they are amazingly talented and I've since worked with them for other Social Media events that I've been associated with and have even referred them to other company's for corporate/advertising shots.

I ADORE their style ~ Two beautiful charming young men make you feel so comfortable and at ease.  Each session is so much fun but the end product is artistic and captures not just the subject matter but usually a little attitude as well.

    Professional, talented and edgy!

I would HIGHLY recommend Nordica Photography for any occasion!

We met Cole and Jacob by chance at the Sinclair Centre. We ended up hiring them to photograph our wedding and we couldn't have been happier. Not only did we end up with amazing photos but we felt that they actually cared about the job and moreover that what they wanted most was to create something magical for us.

Needless to say that's exactly what we got.

I would recommend to anyone that they check out Nordica.

I met Jakob & Cole over a year ago when they approached me via twitter. I liked their approach style and of course the portfolio they had. We have worked together on a couple of occasions now. One gala event for a client, an business anniversary event and they also captured moments from a 100th birthday week-long celebration of a Vancouver heritage building.

They are my go to photographers. I highly recommend you check hem out for whatever your photo needs are.

I had the most disturbing news from these photographers that I hired for my wedding yesterday.  They called me out to meet with them and when I showed up, they promptly announced that THEY COULD NOT TAKE PHOTOS OF MY WEDDING ANYMORE AND THEY ARE BAILING ON ME!

I booked Nordica photography at the end of January 2011 for my wedding in July.  Two months later they decide to tell me they are not taking photos of my wedding because they feel that the "match was not right" and "it's not me, but it's them".  Sounds familiar to any of you; like it's break-up that you did not know was coming.

This information hit me blind sided.  When we first met both Jakob and Cole, we had reservations about them because they seemed so laid back about their work but decided to hire them in the end because we thought that they did great work.  Now I hear that they have reservations about us and don't want to shoot our wedding (with no further explanations except simply that they have made the decision and they are not changing their mind).   If they had any reservations about shooting our wedding, why leave it until 2 months later to inform me (I now only have 3 months to find another photographer).  Why not tell me from the beginning?  They didn't even give me the opportunity to state my concerns as they totally blind sided me with this surprise meeting.

After re-grouping my thoughts, my only thoughts were that they decided that another couple's wedding was more important than ours even though we had signed a contract and given a deposit for them to reserve our date.  Maybe for some unreasonable explanation they simply did not like us.  Whatever the reason that may be, they felt that they had the right to re neg on a contract that was signed and agreed on in good faith because their needs were clearly a lot more important than the agreement that they had made with their clients.

My contract clearly states that if they are unable to shoot my wedding, they would find another photographer who would replace them and give with the same calibre of work that they would've done.  What did our two photographers do?  They simply gave me a list of photographer who were available on my wedding date and expected me to contact these photographers on my own with no help on their end.  That was certainly not helpful.

What they did was completely unprofessional and something no couple should ever experience when they are looking forward to their special day.  Save yourself the tears and heartache ladies and move onto another photographer who has a TRACK RECORD of being dependable, professional, and will honour their contracts.

I simply want to state the facts that happened between myself and these photographers so that the public can be more aware of what they have done to other clients and make a more informed decision.
