I like Nood especially when they have their 50% sales.  Their selection is filled with mid century and modern re-productions.  I have a bought a number of items from this store for my new apartment.  At half off, it was worth the wait.

Now, the reason why I've given them 4 stars is because of the terrific service that I experienced.  I rushed over to Nood and made it with only 10 minutes left in their business day.  I never felt rushed or that I was imposing on the staff.  The items that I was looking for were out of stock but they were glad to order them for me and called me within the time frame that they had given me to tell me that they were ready for pick up.

Would you have it?  I lost the receipt.  I called them up with my dilemma and they were happy to re-print it for me I'd come by the store to pick it up. They wanted to make sure I new where the warehouse was and that I would remember to bring my receipt.

When I arrived at the warehouse I was greeted quickly.  The items were carefully wrapped and packaged in boxes.  However they were too big for the little car that I brought.  Without haste, the gentleman took them out of the boxes, double checked to make sure that it was wrapped up securely with foam and bubble wrap and carefully spent the next 10 minutes trying to fit into my car.

And yes, I took advantage of his patience and asked him if I could have a couple of the boxes even though it didn't look like anything else (including myself) could fit in the car.  But he happily obliged and spent another 5 minutes or more (well it seemed like more) getting 5 large boxes in my car.  That's service.

I never once, felt like my inconvenient planning had inconvenienced any of their helpful staff.

    Thanks, Nood.  You're good people.

Cute store that reminds me of a smaller version of CB2. Located in the Gastown area, you can find a plethora of items for the home, furniture, etc.

Was disappointed that the items I brought up to the register were not priced properly and had the wrong sign displayed. Cashier was obviously annoyed when I said, "Well, could you show me what items the signs are referring to?". There weren't any of said items left and I was not given the sales price for the things I wanted to purchase nor an apology. Ah well.

Customer service issues aside, I could see myself frequenting this place if I needed to stock up on some housewares basics.

Nood recently advertised a big 50% off in the store everything campaign.  nice stuff inside but I got the distinct impression everything was marked up twice the price initially anyhow.  A nice leather office chair I wanted was $840, knocked down to $420.  Other places in town were already offering it for about $420 though.  At the sale itself I bought a few things for the kitchen but no big ticket items...nothing was a super steal.

The day came when I knew I needed the desk chair and needed it fast.  I called 2 Nood stores and got a voicemail both times (over and over and it was before 6PM) saying I should check their website for hours.  All I really wanted was to know if they still had my chair, in my colour, in stock.  I went to their website anyway, found the hours for Gastown which was 'til 8Pm weekdays and decided to race over there.  Got there at 6:15 and the doors we're locked.  I held up my phone "but, but...you're supposed to be open".  An employee saw how frantic I was and came over to tell me those hours aren't valid anymore.  C'mon!  A voice message says check the website and the website is wrong?  You just wasted an hour of my day!  I went over to Inspiration and bought the chair right off the floor... for only $407, and happily.

It is interesting to see a retailer from overseas open several showrooms in a time where the economy and residential development has slowed down.  An interesting addition to see this showroom open up on Water Street in our local Gastown.

Nood offers buyers an alternative to the classic modern furniture designs at a price point that is affordable. Nood products I recommend are the home accessories: vases, flatware, kitchen accessories, great pencil sets, home organizers.

One disappointment is that most of the furniture are not original trademarks rather replicas made in China. On a positive note in comparison to furniture showrooms like Yaletown Sofa or outlet stores in the suburbs these imitation pieces are higher quality.

The perception of "made in China" is changing, there are a handful of excellent manufacturers from China that can produce some of the highest quality manufacturing which is already being seen by some European brand names who are now opening factories in China due to cost and meeting demand of the changing consumer.

The furniture industry is changing quickly where mass production and accessibility to the general public is changing the perception of quality design.  Working in the design industry, knowing the process and the years of investing into testing and  producing good design, purchasing a "knock off" is a difficult decision - how is it fair to the companies or the designers that have worked hard to bring a design into fruition?

With that being said, if you are on a budget there are many good alternatives to selecting furniture that will be both timeless and provide you with the lasting quality.  Consider a local manufacturer or do your homework ... there are plenty of amazing alternatives to the "polycarbonate " chair original designed and made Italy  that would be a great option and under $300

It would be so much more refreshing if new retailers were to take on new design and be more innovative with a collection of furniture that is original ... unfortunately when I see a design knocked off and mass produced everywhere, the novelty ends and "the trend" is exactly opposite of what I want to bring into a well designed interior.

The key is being selective and realistic with both your budget and aesthetic values.  I've ranted enough and although what I've shared may seem negative ... it's pretty simple - if I can't afford the real thing then I stay true to being a more responsible consumer and purchase something I can afford that still brings good value

I don't buy knock off "gucci or prada" purses rather I invest in good design right here made in Canada like M0851

Although I can buy imitation design furniture from Nood at affordable prices, I prefer to purchase the home accessories and decorative items that offer value without design compromise.  Nood is a good source for decorative items and gifts.

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT GOING NOOD?

Well let me tell you if you have never gone Nood I think it is time you should.  They recently just opened three locations, one in North Van.. one near Metrotown.. and one in Gas town.

Now for the details.  This store caters to the "would luv it from Inform, but can live with a slightly heavier than normal Panton chair from Nood" crowd... If your into molded plywood, and fiberglass arm chairs that wont break the bank then I highly recomend this place for you.   They also have a good selection of home accesories, kitchen gadgets, and bedding.

one last thing if you are of the parental variety and would like to outfit your children's bedroom with anything  other  than a foam club chair with Dora the explorer embossed on it found at zellers  then check out their miniature Panton chairs and Eames rockers!

When you walk into Nood, you suddenly feel like everything you've ever  thought in your life before was cool, is suddenly garbage. The inventors of this one of a kind furniture have either smoked a lot of weed and have "visions", or they're pure genius. I've seen some bizarre furniture, but this takes the cake. They have chairs that you don't know which end is which and weird hybrids of furniture that must have come from another planet. They have a selection of chairs that should be part of a psychological experiment determining a persons character by the spot they chose to park their butt.
Definitely worth checking out just for the wonder of it all, and if you're looking for something that will marvel and baffle your friends, Nood is the spot.

I like the fresh styles of what they have here. Clean lines and simple colours. But that kind of thing is usually out of my budget -- especially big-ticket items like furniture. I will probably stick to the smaller things.

There was a heart-shaped cookie cutter, except there was a notch in it (3~5cm long ) so the cookie could be hung on a coffee cup lip (the way lemons slices are put on iced teas). Aww.

I really liked the salt/pepper grinder set that are stainless steel, and could be used with one hand, like a mechanical pencil. It was too fashionably pricey for my norm, but I'm contemplating it, with the help of my 50% off card. But reading the other reviews, I guess they have "50% off" sales often anyways.

This time, I got a brush topped with a rubber ducky to wash the tub with. There was a whale version, too, I think.

My friend came to get a leather bag here. He had decided he liked it on an earlier trip, but we came here with the 50% off coupon. However, it turned out that all luggage was 40% off, and the coupon was not valid on sale items, so he didn't really need it :-P

(^o^)/ TRAVELLERS DECK 2010/11: 50% off 1 item (most expensive item; not valid on sale priced items).

    Nood rocks!

Pony chairs! Be still my heart! I almost bought sets of bamboo towels that were on sale but couldn't decide on a color and didn't want to carry them around, but I'll be back!

Great modern items. A tad pricey but modern is hot today so who can blame them?

Everyone should go Nood at least once...I love this place so much I am at a loss...while not the most elaborate setting for amazing Mid-Century replicas..the no frills atmosphere is total forgiven in light of the amazing furnishing you can buy...replicas of Eames..Herman Miller...Eero Saarinen ..you name it the have it...I recently purchased 4 Panton chairs and an Eames Rocker and was shocked at the reasonable cost...it helped that they had there annual 50% off sale but it would have been a deal regardless..

I also love all the fun home decor pieces they have...clocks..coasters..kitchen apparel..lots to choose from and always new stuff every time you stop in...

Nood is my go to spot for a hard to shop for friend or family member for all occasions..

A fresh take on old classics.

I enjoyed the layout of the store and overall look.  It was crisp and clean.

Recently, I had been searching for the perfect chairs to match a table I had at home.  Their prices were reasonable when I purchased the chairs at more than 50%-off, but the fee to have them shipped was almost half of the original price.

Original wish chair was $199 reduced to $79 with a $40 shipping fee (per chair).

I think it's great if you want a reproduction of some classic designs and aren't willing to pay the hefty price associated with them.  If my original purchase wasn't on sale, I'm not sure I would have made the jump for my rump.

Okay despite most of the opinions here, I really thought this store was cool and if ONLY I had a car big enough for that awesome single leather sofa I found I would be the proud owner of the softest, smoothest leather chair I've ever touched right now!

This place is a neat concept that reminded me much of IKEA in the US but seemed like much better quality. They had a lot of fun little things like stuffed sock monkeys and stuffed sock other types of animals. They even had some bottle opener type items for cheap (although I was a little too stringent with my Canadian the second time around...). I really enjoyed the concept and colors of this modern furniture / decor store and like the previous reviewer, I wish there was one in the US!

I am going to call it straight with this company... I was lured into buying a discounted piece of furniture for $250 only to find out that I had to go and pick it up myself in sw marine dr. or $90 bucks to have it delivered....

    I said WHAT !!!

After much debate with the on site asst mgr she referred me to the store mgr...Which I had to leave and call the next day. Who after much further debating final said they would have it shipped to the Gastown location, the one I was shopping at, and I could come in and pick t up. So I had to make another trip to pay for it and another trip to pick it up around 2 weeks later.

My issue was all the store signage said "sale price"... It didnt say sale price at one location only (Not the one your standing in) the one 1.5 hours drive from here and back. I really had an issue with this and hope others didnt get suckered into it, buying the discount only to hear the after sale dirty pitch.

This store gets the thumbs down for me.  Theres lots of other stores out there that are straight up.

I was here last weekend with my best friend. I've been to Gastown before, not much to look at besides that steaming clock and those gift shops. So guess that's why I was at Nood, and what else we were doing there?  Photo shooting! You'll know what I mean by looking at my pix. =) It turned out to be a great place to photo shoot, coz there just so many stage props! =D

Ok enough none sense, though I didn't purchase anything there, but I have to say this place makes lots of cute stuff, which I would otherwise purchase if the store locates in US. I loved their design. And I did check out the price of some of the items, pretty pricy. I was so in love with this zebra stuffed animal, but it costs $50! That's not acceptable. And plus the 13% tax....I would not want to carry it back to the States. Ok~ sorry zebra, wait here till some sugar daddy to pick you up~ I gotta go~~

While we were so busy with the shooting, there's a sales lady stopped by and trying to tell us the specials going in the stores..... humm... what makes you think we want to buy anything? Can't you see we are visitors? You should be annoyed coz we are taking your shop as playground =P

I had fun there, beautiful shop full of cute stuff; we should have it in California.

I've been making treks to the major contemporary/modern stores in town while trying to furnish our new place... I was a bit disappointed with this place.  The layout is quite cramped and almost everything is a knock-off of a major modern designer.

Prices are reasonable although they are in line with most of the online "replica" type stores.  I didn't look that closely to see if they are higher end replicas made in Europe or the lower quality ones made in China.  In terms of pricing, their Noguchi style table was just under $1000, whereas the signed one at Inform across the street is about $1600.  To be honest, I'd rather pay the difference and have the original, but I suppose nood does what it's supposed to in terms of making some design classics more affordable.

    It's a pass for me - I won't be getting anything here.

I love the accessible fabulosity of Nood. Right now, it's a little bit more accessible than normal, with everything in the store at 50% off. So if you couldn't afford Danish design dining chairs at $1000 a piece, they're now $500. And if not even then, well, they're really nice chairs to sit down in for about a second to contemplate owning $500 chairs that will be used for maybe 20 minutes of sitting per day. Hmmm.

They also have beautiful linen and Egyptian cotton sheets, nubby fleece throws, bamboo office supplies, silicone salad bowls, and all matter of modern-design-y things for the home, plus stoneware cookware that only a professional weightlifter could use on a regular basis. The only problem was that I came to pick out a nice gift for a friend, but kept only finding stuff for myself. They had some pretty vases and glassware, but you try getting that stuff home in one piece on the SkyTrain at rush hour.

How long is this sale going on for, anyhow?

New Objects Of Desire- sounds good to me!

Dare I say it reminds me of IKEA?  They're certainly not the same- but they might be trying for similar audiences.  You know who you are.  You only have so much money, but you want that sleek Euro modern look.

The prices at Nood run the gamut.   Some make you do a double take, but many things seem quite reasonable.  Sure- I'll take that vase for $14.  Don't mind if I do!  Heck no, I won't take that neat clock for $140.  That's insane. Ooh, a citrus press for $80-something.  That is a lot of money, but what an intriguing gadget!  It looks cool, and so functional when I want fresh juice or margaritas.  So anyone still looking, I'll take that for Christmas!

Nood isn't very unusual for Vancouver. The city has a passing interest in Furniture design and Nood is kind of the culmination of the mid-level educations and home magazines people get into a store. That is to say , it's not the best taste wise and not the fanciest, but it gets the job done.

What Nood earns the extra star for is affordability. While other places tend to focus on being the most hip or getting the rarest pieces , Nood really focuses on giving you design elements the average person can actually afford. Don't be afraid of the Water St. location because it's really just furniture store prices on fun pieces.

There are also some great finds here and a good turnover rate so it's worth checking out all the time. Better service than some of the other snootier design places AND most of the stuff they have is in local stock somewhere so you wont be waiting 4 years for it to be imported from Denmark.

Nood was having a 50% off sale yesterday so I had to go in and check it out. Lucky I did, as I ended up buying two photo frames as Christmas presents and my boyfriend got himself a gorgeous bamboo-covered writing book. The photo frames are super funky, with oak bottoms and glass photo holders, for only $12.

Also inside this (very large store) was furniture, kitchenware, bedding, and even clothing.

Definitely come here if you're in to modern, contemporary looks, not so much classical pieces (however they did have a GORGEOUS teak table and chairs in the window).

I love the products. They are reasonably priced and the quality is great.

Parking is great as there is a pay parking right across the store. I spent $2 parking for the time I spend shopping in Nood.

This was my first visit there.  Had I not have my heart set on buying the set of side tables that day, I would have gone elsewhere.  Here's the reason: customer service.

Now not everyone there is that bad.  The first girl who helped me was very nice.  I told her I wanted to buy two of the table sets.  Something told me that I wanted to check them before I purchased them.  So I asked her and she went to the back and got me a new set, opened it up and there it was, a scratch on it. She quickly asked someone in the back to grab me two more sets.  However, at that time she was also juggling with helping another customer and I completely understood when she passed me onto different salesperson.

Okay, here's why I got upset.  This girl came by and just seemed very annoyed that she had to take care of me.  She didn't know what we were doing before she stepped in and so when I said, "Could I check these two first?", she was even more annoyed and said "well we normally don't do that, it's not fair to the other customers."  UM HELLO and it's fair for me to blindly buy a table that could or could not be scratched? Am I not a customer too? "Well it's fine, I'm only doing this right now because we aren't busy".   REEALLLY?? wow LUCKY ME!
She opened one box, let me check it (it was fine), and then walked back to the register to ring me in.  Then I asked her if I could check the second box.  She says, "but you already check this one"   Umm yes because i wanted to buy TWO sets, right?  *ding* she clues in.  All that huffing and puffing all over again. Geeez did I feel bad for making her do such a thing for a customer.

Seriously, not until I actually whipped out my credit card did I get a smile back from this girl.

Like I said, I love the products this store carries and will most likely come back (maybe to another location), and the first girl with short hair who helped me was very very nice even though she was late for her lunch break and was starving.  It was the other girl who made my visit there not so pleasant.

Nood is a budget friendly alternative to DWR (Design Within Reach for non-design geeks). Relatively affordable modern to mid-century furniture reproductions are stylishly positioned throughout the store. And when I mean, relatively affordable, instead of paying $5000+ for chair/sofa/desk/etc. you may pay below $1000-$2000 range. But no need to fret. Fun, trendy (and more affordable) housewares abound with things you didn't think you'd need --- you pick up and realize you really want it. Like the rubber ducky toothbrush holder or the funky house clock or that coffee mug ... housewares, kitchenware, furniture, office supplies are all available. It's worth a stop in Gastown.

Eeeeeee! They have an egg chair! Do you know what I am talking about?! Those now-kitschy chairs from the 60's that were all the rage, are yes, back instyle at a premium.  Along with interesting furniture, Nood carries a wide array of home decor options from clocks to picture frames and candle holders as well as kitchen accessories from pots, pans, silicone pot holders and well priced mugs and dishware.  I hate to even compare to Ikea but I'm sensing the same vibe, all be it a better quality one.  The soft towels and silk bedspreads and duvet covers are on my list of must-haves to spruce up my apartment this fall.  Prices range from low to high, depending on your budget, nothing too outrageous in comparison to many other furniture designers out there.

Nood has cool, modern furniture and accessories perfect for a funky, contemporary loft. I live in such a loft just down the street that I needed to decorate from head to toe recently. I have walked into Nood about half a dozen times to get ideas and find furniture but I never feel compelled to buy because I feel the quality does not match the price. Plus the staff is very standoffish and if they even look in my direction I am shocked! With all of this said, Nood does have some cool pieces but then again so does Ikea at half the price.

Nood caught our eye when strolling through Gastown on a recent visit to Vancouver.  It's filled with modern knockoffs and interesting original dishware and accessories and is definitely worth a look.  My boyfriend found some reasonably priced mugs and creamer set he had to have, but we were sad to find out they were out of stock and wouldn't be getting more in.  Luckily, we happened to drive by the north Vancouver store later that day where they had more in stock and we were able to snag a set.

This store is fun, funky and a bit kitschy.  Their quirky designs feature such things as a "cowhide" covered eames chair, colourful stovetop coffee makers, funky toothbrush holders and quirky little alarm clocks.  I find the aesthetic to be a bit more trendy than I'd want to bring into my home, but as far as design goes, this is a store worth appreciating for its creativity and eccentricities.  You might also find an item or two that make your own interior design scheme just a little peppier.  So, come here if you're looking for high-concept design; it's good for ogling, and if you're into quirky, possibly good for inviting into your living room.
