I was introduced to Nooch by a friend of mine who works in the neighborhood. It's not the kind of place one would find unless one knew it was there. They're located in a commercial district off of the main roads.
I've been a couple of times now for lunch and the service has been great. It's a 'young' place -- servers and staff are all under 30 -- but they instill a sense that the place is run with pride. Staff are very, very friendly and it's worth eating there just to sit down and chat.
The food ranges from a 3/5 to a 4/5. It's standard fare (paninis, some entree-style dishes) and, I think to Nooch's credit, pretty much just what you want for lunch. You get a small pile of ruffle potato chips on your plate with a simple salad... not greasy fries, or flying fish wasabi awesomesauce. In other words, you can actually EAT there and not have your lunch intrude on your day or on your conversation. It's not pretentious... and I really like that.
Prices range from $7-12 for lunch items.
The decor is very modern and urban, so it's a great oasis of fresh and new in a desert of otherwise dull Richmond commercialville.
I even liked the art they had up, which is something you don't often notice in a restaurant. -

Better late than never with this review, however, done none the less. I bought a Social Shopper with the intention of looking into a culinary option within the area instead of having to eat lunch Ikea after 2 hours of browsing and shopping. Nothing against Ikea food, just simply looking for a change of pace when in the area.
The ambience was modern, almost everything was bright and white. It looked J-Lo's backstage dressing room (read her tour rider and check out some of her music vids to understand the reference). There was some sparse red chairs to attempt to add color to the décor. It had a clean flat look that seemed to work.
It does add fresh character considering how dull and industrial the area is. Sadly it's so hidden away that only a few people know that it actually exists.
The service was good even though it was slow serving two sandwiches with chips. The guy behind the counter was very sociable and friendly.
The menu items are sparse and simple. Still trying to critique in my head if this is a good thing or failure given the industrial demographic of workers. I took note of another fellow yelper whom mentioned that they tend to run out of ingredients and options at the end of the month, therefore, my timing seemed to have worked in terms of my desired menu selection.
The price is fair, however, was a little put off that they gave me chips instead of fries. Fries don't cost that much and make the meal more robust. -

Awesome place right by work. When I first went there I had a tuna melt (better than good) but then I got introduced to the chicken tandoori sandwich. That's all I've eaten since then.
(Not 5 because when they get busy, their closet of a kitchen can't keep up :) At lunch get there early for seats -

I was searching for a place to have lunch and this place popped up on Yelp, it had good reviews so we gave it a try.
The atmosphere is sleek and modern, feels very european. I had a pannini, it had good flavour but a bit on the large side for my taste.
I'll definately come back and try some of their other menu items. -

Working in a completely soulless area of East Richmond, it's hard to find places to eat lunch nearby, but a co-worker and I had noticed Nooch on a recent drive-by and decided to drop in. Actually, I found a coupon for a 2-for-1 deal they were running as part of their first anniversary celebrations, so it was really the coupon that sealed the "deal" (I'm so punny).
Anyway, it turns out that the end of the week is really not the best time to have lunch at Nooch, as they were fresh out of the features they were running the 2-for-1 deal on. Fortunately, our friendly server noticed our crestfallen expressions, and owing partly to the fact that we were first-timers, he said he would honour the 2-for-1 coupon for ANYTHING WE WANTED on the menu (it doesn't take much to make my day)! I was really excited to order the veggie panini, as it had everything I had been craving (mmm...pesto), but unfortunately they were out of that as well. Third time's the charm, so I sprung for the veggie lovers sandwich (not to be confused with the panini), and requested pesto on my sandwich, so I could finally satisfy my burning desire for it. My special request was graciously accommodated. I also ordered a flavoured iced tea to round out my meal.
The food took a bit longer than I would have liked to arrive (I technically only have a half hour for lunch), but it was obvious that everything is prepared fresh. Another small peeve was that the drinks arrived after the meals had already come out. My sandwich was delicious, with a nice fresh melange of vegetables sandwiched between two chewy pieces of ciabatta bread. The side salad that accompanied the sandwiches was also quite good...not overdressed! The iced teas were tasty as well as enormous, and all in all it was a really good lunch.
Nooch does have a bit of a "young" feel (modern red-and-white themed interior, bit flat screen tv, loud-ish music, young servers) but there was a wide variety of deprived East Richmond 9-5ers enjoying their midday break. Food is fresh and tasty and...they serve beer! And have Reggae Fridays! New favourite work-lunch spot?Listed in: Noontime Nomming

I love nooch.
I was put onto this hidden gem in East Richmond by a friend-of-a-friend and it has become my favourite lunch spot over the last year!
The food is consistently well prepared and inexpensive, the room is minimalist-comfortable and the people who run the place make you feel like family. The good kind, not the kind you avoid at holidays.
These guys would absolutely kill it if they opened downtown... I'm glad they've chosen an under-served area of Richmond - they feed us well! -

Hidden alongside Jacombs among the industrial and commercial zones of the area, nooch provides a refreshing look to the boring atmosphere of Richmond dullness. They offer a simple yet easy to choose from menu that pretty much satisfies the breakfast or lunch you forgot to bring to work. The meals are delicious and I would come back here again!
