I can't say enough about Charlotte and her professional staff. Our group was well taken care of and they were a delight.

Review from Nadine N.

Unfortunately, we arrived at the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre at 3:30 and they were closing at 4pm so we didn't get the full experience. The Cultural Centre charges $12 for admission. They advertise interactive hands on exhibits. I'm sorry that I missed out. The building itself deserves a mention. It's environmentally sustainable with it's traditional rammed-earth walls and won an award for the architecture.
Specialties
The Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre educates on the Okanagan First Nation's history, the endangered desert environment, and headlines rattlesnake research. With two films, indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits, a 1.5 km. walking trail, reconstructed traditional Okanagan village and more, there's fun and entertainment for all ages!
The centre itself is an architectural marvel, and boasts the longest rammed earth wall in North America. It was constructed out of local materials, and has numerous sustainable features which coincide with the First Nation's respect for the land.
History
Established in 2002
The Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre opened in 2002 in a temporary building. In 2006, the new, $9-million centre was unveiled.
