So it looks like they got rid of the Korean BBQ option sometime this year.  That was disappointing for sure.  But it looks like they cranked up the types of sushi/sashimi available in return.

I'm always a sucker for ayce sashimi.  This is one of those restaurants where you can totally wreck yourself.  You can look around and see the biodiversity in the oceans decrease just a little bit.

The sashimi pieces are a bit small, but since it's ayce, you can just order another 5 dishes.

One thing I like about this place is that they don't charge any additional money for raw oysters.  Poor little guys don't stand a chance at all in my mouth.

Another dish worth mentioning is the tempura shrimp.  They use less batter than many other places, which means you don't just get a mouthful of oil.

This place is absolute crap.  Their sashimi sizes are 1/3 of what you would normally get at other AYCE places.  My boyfriend and I would order a LOT of rolls (we're beasts when it comes to food!) and only one order of each would come.  We'd try it again and they only give us a third of what we order.  I don't know why they would feel the need to do this since we're just going to keep ordering until we've had enough anyway.

The services... well... you can't really call some of them waiters/waitresses.  A half of the crew is in charge of only bringing the food to your table.  If you want more water or tea, you will have to ask another worker whose in charge of actually "waiting" the table.  The food doesn't suck per say, but the way they run things are actually pretty crap.

Cheap late night all you can eat specials but it is a bit of a gongshow to get a table because of all their "rules." There are only certain hours you can reserve and if you call too late you have to go early and wait in some stand by queue of people.

There is a maximum number of items they will give you despite it being ALL you can eat and they pretty much limit you to 2 orders, if you want to make a third they get a little fussy.

Overall it's alright, a looot of the menu is meat and the sushi options are very basic. It's inconvenient to get a beverage or anything beyond the all you can eat menu because you have to flag down the waitress in a way that won't piss them off.

Despite all the weird little rules they have the food is good and the late night price is right.

Yet another AYCE sushi restaurant in the corner of Browngate and Hazelbridge.

I can't really say much about this place except its like every other cheap "all you can eat sushi joints (about $11 for lunch) with the exception of Hot Pot mmmmm.

The food is pretty good, they got pretty much the same kinds of sushi as the other competing restos:

    -Salmon sushi- fresh!
    -Unagi sushi- awsome!!
    -spicy tuna/spicy salmon cone-bomb!!!
-oyster motoyaki- didn't like it at all!! avoid avoid avoid!! j/k try it.... then AVOID!!!
    -Californa/BC/Alaska/Korean style sushi/ unagi/ Gyoza/ Chicken n beef teri/ Grilled Saba n Salmon! yum/ Fried prawns/ calamari/ tofu/ smelts/ etc etc- all nice and fresh but nothing i would call home about..

Not the best sushi joint around but a little above average in my opinion which is "A-OK for me. I really enjoyed the Unagi fried rice!! i love eel :D give it a try! OH and u gotta try the mango pudding at the end of your meal.. another great way to end your above average meal ;)

All you can eat sushi lunch for $10! How can you go wrong?

We arrived here around 2:15 and were immediately told that last orders are taken at 2:30, lunch ends at 3:00.  We looked at each other.. and decided we'd just order a lot and just eat! Which is what we did! The sushi itself was pretty good.. I wouldn't say it's the best sushi I've ever had.. but it was pretty good (it tasted fresh enough!).  The only disappointment I had was mostly for their non-sushi stuff.. like the noodles and fried chicken and stuff... they were okay, small portions (you order and they bring you the food)... I remember getting the udon... and the soup only being barely warm....

Overall, for an all you can eat place, it's pretty good! (maybe my standards are a little different from Canadians--this was the only sushi place in Canada that I ate at..... plus... raw fish has just recently grown on me).

All-you-can-eat sushi after 9:30PM. You get what you paid for, and for $12.95 per person you can't really complain. Can't say much about the quality because you know it is not the best, in terms of flavour, it is okay.

Service when I was there was actually good. Got almost everything but one or two items on the list in a timely manner. The place to go if you want all-you-can-eat sushi and it is open until 3PM. I would go here again but only for all-you-can-eat and if I am in the vicinity.

I went here for A la carte menu, not the all you can eat menu so I cannnot comment on their all you can eat section.

As for a la carte, I ordered oyako-don WITHOUT chicken skin at first.
Unfortunatelly, it came with chicken skin so I asked for an another one without chicken skin and less rice!! there were TOO much rice... and I can't finish it :-(

so the second oyako-don was great, less rice (even thou I was only able to finish 25% of it), and no skin.

The oyako-don tasted so much better than Matsuyama's.

Anyways, my friend ordered salmon sashimi, which tasted SUPER fresh and YUMMY :-) and also spicy tuna roll but I didn't try so I cannot comment on that.

Overall, this place deserves 4 star on my scale even though they forgot to remove the skin at first.

will definitely want to go back there again, if any chance.

Ninkazu is yet another second-rate AYCE sushi joint run by Chinese staff in the back alleys of Richmond.  Their $12.95 late night (9:30 - midnight) all you can eat menu during the weekdays is a pretty good deal, but it's not much for quality.  There's probably a reason why most of the late night dinner crowd is poor Asian university students.

Our hero had to wait a long time to get a seat at 11 PM and all the while felt like the staff just wanted to get him fed and out as fast as possible.  None of the food is outstanding at all.  Some of the dishes like a BC roll, gyoza, agedashi tofu, teriyaki chicken, and chicken tonkatsu is fairly average and hard to mess up.  Most of the fried items were pretty horrible and tasted like they were previously frozen and cooked too quickly.  Trust our hero and skip the sashimi.  Worst of all was probably the kaarage, which still had tiny fried hairs on the chicken wings... EWWW!

    PROS:
    - Really cheap all you can eat sushi.  $9.95 for lunch and $12.95 for a late dinner after 9:30 PM on weekdays.  $1 extra for holidays and weekends.  Doesn't get a whole lot cheaper than this in Richmond.

    CONS:
    - The tuna and salmon sashimi is horrid.  It tasted like it was defrosted too quickly and the tuna was pretty much inedible.
    - Service is terrible.  They are very rushed and not much for courtesy.

Like its sister restaurant Tomokazu in Broadway,  this place focuses more on quantity over quality, but heck, did I mention it was all-you- can-eat sushi? What's one to expect?

$9.95 lunch deal can't be beat. Leaving first rate sushi expectations here, I find that the sushi selections are average in terms of freshness and quality. Regretfully, I didn't partake in as much all-you-can-eat action as I would have liked, nevertheless, I did enjoy the chicken kaarage, oyster motoyaki, nigiris, inaris, and scallop temakis.

Service was quick and snappy, tea cups never empty and constantly being refilled. Clean and modern atmosphere with ample natural lighting from the vast windows. I suspect ambience would even be better during evenings with a full menu and hotpot option.

I give it 2 stars... price point, service, food genre considered.

I went here after our extended family wanted to take us out for some great sushi. This all you can eat place is somewhere they go regularly so I was expecting a lot of great food.

    The goods:
    - great salmon - soft, and tender, and FATTY
    - Raw oysters: I do not like raw oysters, but these are great, not fishy at all and the hot sauce that went with it gives it a good kick
    - Unagi - large pieces that are just warm enough to make it that much better
    - Yam tempura - not overly fried and lots of vegetable
    - chopped scallop was fresh

The not so goods.. which is not a whole lot:
    - Toro wasn't super soft
    - THERE WAS NO ICE CREAM.
    - highlighting shark fin sushi when it is clearly NOT sharkfin (nor do I support it)

All you can eat place with no ice cream... mango, green tea, sesame, red bean.. ginger.. I don't care. but there was NONE :(

The place is pretty big and it was about half full. The service was soso but it was good family time.

The sibling of Tomokazu on Broadway in Vancouver, the menu is identical, and to my surprise, this place has been open for 3 years. I must say I actually like this place more than the one in Vancouver. Located right between Aberdeen and Parker Place, the restaurant is located on the second floor, and the seating is widely spread apart.

We were there trying to find an eating solution for my friends birthday, and there was an hour left to go before they were closing. The service was good, and they always informed us when last call was to happen, which was really helpful.

The food was pretty good quality, considering that it is AYCE.  The price is pretty decient considering what you get. I will probably come back to this one, as the other AYCE's for Japanese food in Richmond have gone way down in quality, so I hope this place holds out, only time will tell, but as of now, this is one that I have to recommend.

This place has a fairly large, inexpensive late nite menu. I don't fuss about going here, but as with most busy sushi places, the waiters are rude and impatient with the customers. The wait to get inside is incredibly long and I would reccomend not only making a reservation but also showing up about 30 mins before your set time. If you're just going there expecting a bare basics, nothing amazing sushi place then you will enjoy your meal. Best to go with a large group of friends, it makes it a lot more fun. The food is actually pretty tasty and comes quite quickly.

One thing that really stood out to me was the fact that they had shark fin sushi on the menu. Being the busy-body that I am, I wrote them a letter explaining the environmental impact of serving shark meat. They actually responded assuring me that the shark fin is artificial. I hope they're being truthful, and I really appreciated the fact that they took the time to write me back.

Ninkazu was recommended for its all-you-can-eat sushi. The dinner menu has a larger variety to select from and is only $5 more than the lunch menu. I was in the mood for oysters which was only available on the dinner menu.

to my surprise, the sushi was good quality for an all you can eat restaurant. the reason i give this two stars is because service was beyond poor. it was to the point that it was not pleasant sitting there and giving them business. no smiles, no thank yous. When you re-ordered sushi or oysters, they gave you a look as if they didnt want to bring more than what you ordered because they didnt think you could finish it.

splitting the bill was a hassle too and when the waiter made a mistake on the receipt, he was not apologetic, but more annoyed that he had to correct his mistake.

If you're the type that can block out bad customer service and not let it affect your meal, then this is a decent place to go. But if you get irritated from poor service and need to bring it up during the meal, you probably want to skip this place. I was very close to leaving no tip.

I know, I know.... AYCE. the food was just below average. The basics were all edible. The tempura was a little soggy when it arrived, I had to beg for sake, and they hella jived me on my favourite the chicken teriyaki. On the plus side if you get a window seat and are there at a busy time for the parking lot, it can be quite amusing to see all the action from up top.

The reviews are right on. I don't mind the servers being "rude", one waitress said "gimme" to me although I don't remember the context - it doesn't matter. They're not mean, just not trained in service. You're not there for that. You're there for the mountains of sushi - a very extensive menu that includes things like Geoduck Sushi, Shark Fin roll, lobster sushi - although these items are overrated. The deluxe menu is $3 more which includes Toro, which isn't good at all. Stick with the basic menu as it is plentiful enough. The salmon sashimi is excellent, very fresh and smooth. The Korean Salmon sashimi adds a nice sweet sauce to it. What makes this place unique is that the sashimi is unlimited (truly all you can eat) and they have Shrimp Tempura!

One of the first places that comes up when AYCE J food is the plan. Food quality is not the greatest but generally satisfactory for bulk food. Usually it is busy so inventory turnover should be pretty good. Farmed salmon is served here so I avoid that item. The sashimi & sushi selection is good on the full AYCE menu for about $24 a person. People don't come here for service that is above & beyond. The service can be fast at times & again generally adequate for this market segment. Don't expect it to be like high end restaurant service. It's more about speed & quantity here. I'm sure there are others who have had bad experiences about the service but we've been OK with it every time we ate here. Altho there are other places for better quality J food this joint is great for those times when a bunch of us feel like pigging out & over indulging. It's in a busy area so parking can be a problem. Same with sister restaurant Tomokazu on W B'way.

Some of their items we tend to go with

    amaebi
    tamago
    ikura
    masago
    hotate
    prawn tempura

    tai
    ika
    tako
    toro
    beef tataki
    tuna tataki

*** isnt Ninkazu located in richmond????

i've been here a few times since last autumn and surprisingly the portions and quality of the food havent changed since.  usually new ayce joints will have good quality and quantity of food and then it'll go downhill after theyre done attracting new customers. i sense its coming soon lol

i havent paid attention to the service but all i know is that you should make reservations first (especially on weekends) or else it would be a longggg wait
