I use to goto Nick while he was at his older location across the street, and the service is still the same. There is another guy that works with him now, his name is Miri, and they both have quite the operation going. If you arent looking for a complicated haircut, and would like to spend $12 bucks for a haircut, yes you read that right, then there is no better place in Vancouver. In and out, and you are done, perhaps do some grocery shopping next door at young brothers, and bob's your uncle.

Good barbers, good service! It's a bit out of my way to get to but I can't really say I've gotten a better haircut anywhere else. Mad props to Nick and Miri for running such a slick shop.

I got a hair cut couple days ago from nick. However it was a totally crap. I wasted the gas, time and of course money and ended up to wear the hat until my hair grow for next hair cut.  I highly recommended not to go there if you want to go outside without putting your hat on your head.I asked him to cut my hair the way i explained in the beginning but he did the total opposite and mostly cut all of my hair off. This was the worst haircut I have ever got in my life I will never ever go back to his barber shop.

I went to Nick's for my first hair cut three months ago. Waited for 10 minutes reading a Times magazine, realized they only took cash, crossed the street to an ATM, and I'm in the chair.

I gave the guy some instruction and fair warning, that I don't trust barbers because they don't listen and just tell me to "throw some gel in it" after butchering my hair. As a result, I'd read up on cutting hair and started doing it myself.

Not only did he not insult my self-cutting prowess, despite the rather patchy crown cuts, he did a great job and didn't talk too much. I left 20 minutes after getting in the chair, my hair much better looking and only about an inch shorter.

And it grew out for three months and still looks great. Cool stuff, pyschic barber dude.

Also saw some great looking hair on the girl beside me, so he may be the go to guy for ladies that like their hair short. Just something to keep in mind.

I will never pay $40-50 for a haircut again - not as long as Nick's is around. Sick of salon pretentiousness and prices, I decided to try out a few barber shops.

Enticed by the price, I tried a barber shop close to where I live, in Mount Pleasant. After a few visits, and after a few botched trims, I decided to expand my horizons and leave the fixie bike saturated, moustachioed Main Street for the 3-wheel baby stroller and Lululemon abundant Kitsilano, on a quest for the perfect trim.

My journey was not an easy one, but finally I reached my goal - Nick's spinning barber pole a shining beacon on the horizon.

The interior is, shall we say, 'spartan', and the staff 'brusque' down-to-business types. I'm not sure which guy Nick is, because each time I've been back, the guys are all standing behind different chairs, one labeled Miri, and the other Nick, but it doesn't matter. These guys are surgeons with the clippers and scissors and will give you exactly what you want for $12!

In a city where so many business are built to look like they're from another era, or have some kind of 'spin' or gimmick, Nick's is the real deal.

Wandered in because I was getting a little shaggy and the style and price of this place sounded exactly right. Will W. is spot on. John really knows what he's doing with a comb and scissors. I got in his chair, he asked me how much I wanted off the back, then he went directly to work. I walked out with a classic cut and a smile on my face.

Definitely the best $10 haircut of my life. In fact it ranks better than some $60 haircuts I've had. I'll certainly be back.

"One month off?"  - Sure Nick, go ahead.

End up with sideburns of unequal length, and the barely touched top, which, I must say, did grow too in that month, just like the sides and the back. did.

$12 is the most that you should be paying for this kinda haircut.

Strolled in on a Saturday afternoon totally unannounced - had to wait 10 minutes or so but after that I had the pleasure of a wonderful haircut by a friendly Albanian chap who really seemed to know what he was doing. This is the first professional haircut I've had in a while (my girlfriend usually does it) but I am more than pleased with the result - I think the GF should be too :)

A lot of times in the past I've not liked my hair for a few days after a cut but I can safely say it looked great as soon as I walked out the door - the Barber even took time to explain how my hair sits and that there is an ideal length that it should be cut to keep things looking snazy.

Very pleased and will frequent this place again!

John just gave me a haircut and I got to say it was as old-school as you can get. This is a man who knows hair. I sat down in one of the two chairs and said nothing. He just went straight to work. Then I piped in that I wanted it short.  That was about all the conversation we had.  If you want a chatty barber, this may not be the place but if you want a barber who works with a pair of scissors and an experienced eye then this is just the place for you.

What I got was a traditional short haircut just like I wanted. This ain't no fancy pants salon!

Maybe that's why I got what I wanted. You see, if you want more I'm sure they could give it to you but for the most part this is a straight up barber shop (minus the spinning pole outside). As good as one gets. And all for $10!

When I lived in Vancouver I used to go here all the time. Used to be called John & Peter's and was run by two old barbers well into their late years. Nick came later after Peter left and kept John's name on the billboard.

It's an old-school barber, two chairs. Both guys do great haircuts (though most tend to go to Nick). The price is fantastic at $10 too.

It's also a great place to get your kids haircut. They treat them like gold. Put them in the big chair on a platform and hand them a lollipop afterwards.

Cheep and fast, but they are not very attentive, and in my case it ended with two catastrophies. The couldn't get the hair straight, the sideburns did not have equal length, etc. It happened twice, I am all for giving a second chance.
If you care about how you look, and not just to get your hair shorter, than this is probably not the place.

First time there and I love the work.  Well done. Efficient.  Made the trip from the West End.  Worth the trip.

I really can't imagine going anywhere else for a haircut. Incredibly cheap, no unnecessary small-talk, and barbers who know what they're doing. This is *the* haircut place for dudes in Vancouver.
