So happy to find this place! I'm working in Waterloo and have been trying to find a few good restaurants as I get to know the area. I will definitely be going back here!

The service was great and the food was really good. I had the goat cheese salad and it was delicious!

A place that offers free bacon just cause is  definitely a special place. Great daily fresh prix fixes menu that change constantly and give to you nice choices is definitely why this place became close to my heart so quickly.

They also have an a la carte menu and I'm always fighting with myself on what to choose.

Great service, awesome wine list and fun events including their Iron Chef competition makes this a must visit in KW

This place is great. The atmosphere is cozy but not overly intimate and the food is excellent. I'd only change the cocktail list; some of them have been on there for ages and it would be nice to see some new ones on the list.

The service was excellent. My wife loved her wine paired meal which included a very tasty vegetarian main. Sadly, I ordered the lobster and shrimp for $35 and it was terribly over cooked and rubbery.  (I suspect it might have been frozen??)... The gravy needed more flavor and reduced more than it was.  Given the other reviews, I hope that this was just a glitch...

    Sigh.

Finally. An excellent upscale restaurant in KW that keeps me in the city on a Friday night rather than escaping to Toronto for dinner and fun.

Uptown 21 serves up delicious food - well crafted and thoughtful - excellent service, and a laid-back + warm ambience.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tapas night. Every dish that came out of the kitchen proved to be creative, appetizing, and absolutely delicious. It's a mark of an excellent restaurant when the diner trusts the kitchen to serve up an excellent dinner full of surprises and satisfaction.

Worth every penny. Worth every visit.

    Highly recommended.

(Nick + Nat, please stick around here in KW and don't listen to the siren call of bigger cities. KW needs you too much.)

Where to even begin with this place. It is, without a doubt, the finest dining experience you will find in Waterloo.

I was initially attracted to it by the prix-fixe menu that changes daily. And this menu does not disappoint. On both occasions I have visited, it has been extremely varied, and focused as much as possible on using local goods. I once even saw a local farmer come in to pick up a cheque for the very meat I was eating...

I won't comment too much on the food, as the menu changes regularly, however I will point out that the french fries (and homemade ketchup) as well as the mussels are spectacular selections.

This restaurant is fantastic for any small (2) to medium (8) sized party. The staff is extremely attentive and can adapt to the style of service you're looking for. They'll even sit you at the bar if you just want to pop in for a nosh and to wet your whistle.

Nick and Nat's (where you can meet Nick and Nat) is a spectacular establishment that anyone who says they care about food should check out more than once in their lifetime.

The restaurant is fantastic, and well worth the money spent. Food is cooked to perfection, and there is a good selection of food. I highly recommend the prix fixe for it's unique selection and varied options. Service is impeccable, and your glass will never be empty. You will most likely need a reservation for dinner. I've tried to walk in 3 or 4 times without one and was successful only once. Also, when making a table reservation, try to get a table farther from the kitchen, otherwise it can get a bit loud.

Oh, and need I mention free bacon on anything you want?

I had the best pork dish I've ever had at this place.  Super laid back, chill, romantic atmosphere.  I sat at the bar, and had a friendly bar tender too.  They had some good beer on tap, and I felt like I could have hung out all night.  Best place I've eaten in Waterloo.

This has to be the best hidden gem in Waterloo.  I went here for an a birthday dinner with my girlfriend and we both though the food was spectacular.  While a bit on the pricey side for Waterloo it wasn't outrageous.

    Good flavors and not pretension!

For over a year it has been the goal of my husband and I to dine at Nick and Nat's.  We were cursed with never finding the time when this cute little secret of a restaurant was open; well it has happened, we have finally eaten there! And let me tell you, it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT.

To begin, we sat at the chef's bar which makes you  practically a sous-chef in the kitchen.  This may be the most deadly seat in the house as you can watch the entire menu as it is prepared. If you have a hard time choosing your meals, this will not make it easier!

We started off with our appetizers, both of which were fois gras based.  My husband's croquette was divine as was my terrine plate.

As our seconds, my husband enjoyed the mussels in a tomato and olive based melange that payed respect to the awesomeness of layered fresh herbs.  My salad was a testament to the greatness of freshly grated cheese on anything.

Our mains did not disappoint. My husband had the lobster and shrimp dish and I had the steak.  The fish was to die for and the delightful rub on the steak was a perfect frame for the care taken in its aging and preparation. We could not drive the option of the homemade squash ravioli from our minds, so we also shared a half order of them and did not regret our choice!

Dessert for me was tempura apple dumplings. My husband had the creme brule.  We also shared the homemade berry gelato.  When we were done nothing but a sprig of mint remained!

The price for our meal was well in keeping with the dynamic changes that are being seen in uptown Waterloo with the addition of higher end dining options.  There is no question that the value and quality of our meal more than justified the price.

We cannot wait to go back.  In fact, we have already begun to plan our next menu choices.  Since it is and ever changing menu of local produce, I suppose we will need to make it soon; poor us!   ;)

This is a must-visit for anyone who is looking for great food and a fresh and comfortable approach to great dining!

After reading the reviews and hearing Uptown 21 from my friends, I finally went to Uptown 21. Wow, what a night. The food was delicious yet different than regular western restaurants. It was something a foodie would like. The waiters were pleasant and he informed us that there was Iron Chef happening after dinner. We stayed behind and enjoyed a night eating snacks and drinking martini while watching Iron Chef.

I had lunch there a few months ago and it was really good but a bit pricey. The service was great (possibly because the restaurant was almost empty). It's a place where you take someone for a special occasion but too expensive for regular lunch or dinner outings.
