We recently moved into the area and have been searching for a new chinese food place. I have never particularily enjoyed chinese food since moving to Vancouver as it is all either way too authentic (chicken feet... seriously...) or insanely greasy but I was pleasantly suprised when we tried New West Wonton House! It was recommended to us by a neighbour in the building and we figured we'd give it a shot.
We ordered the Dinner for 3:
Egg Rolls
Wonton Soup
Chicken Chow Mein
Sweet & Sour Pork & Pineapple
Beef Chop Suey
Dry Ginger Beef (normally comes with Almond Chicken)
I found the egg rolls quite greasy but acceptable, better than most places.
Wonton Soup was pretty good, I craved it a few days after
Chicken chow mein was deeeelicious! I loved the flavour and texture. Yum!
S&S Pork was really good too! The fresh veggies and chunks of pineapple complimented the pork nicely.
Beef Chop Suey had lots of beef in it which was a nice suprise. The sauce was exactly what I was looking for and it had an excellent selection of fresh veggies again.
Dry ginger beef was MY favorite. Very yummy ginger sauce and each piece was nice and crispy. Definitely getting this again!
Make sure you ask for chopsticks or they don't send them (might be because they know I'm white? Not sure) The meal DOES come with fortune cookies though, which is surprisingly difficult to find these days.
