Fabulous bike store!  I'm on a budget, and wanted to try to fix up an older bike for a certain 6 yr old.  This store is great!  I bought new tires, new inner tube, a gently used seat, all for a quite reasonable price.  They were generous with great advice and wonderful service.  I'm impressed.   A great experience.  I'll be back for all my biking needs - in fact, later today.  Thanks!  What a relief to find such a gem of a store.  Please keep up the good work, New West Cycle!

It may have been the hill, but when I spied banana seats! Ten-speeds! Cruisers! through the window of this shop, it took me a minute to catch my breath.

A sucker for all things bicycle, I immediately ran inside and started poser-ing next to my favourites, including the bright vintage Huffy with coaster brakes that took me back to those summer afternoons spent racing up and down my grandparents' back road.

The shop is small, with room for about 10-12 restored rides displayed side by side. With the market for stylish vintage bikes so hot, I was surprised that these ones, for the most part, don't cost an arm and a leg. However, since we're talking about older bicycles here, the guys in the shop indicated that  prices for some bikes can depend on whether you take the bike as-is (they're upfront as to whether it might need additional work), or whether you wish to have it worked on some more. (I think I heard that right, anyway; I was overcome by bike lust at the time...)

I'm not sure if they'll let you take take a test ride, but that might be interesting, trying to ride a fixie up the hills of New West.

Total bill came to $140.00 which included new form fit handlebar grips, and a fork mounted mirror instead of the handlebar one.  Had it ready for me a day earlier than promised.  All-in-all, a fantastic experience.  Two thumbs up!!!!

Sean, the owner, left working in the oil fields so he could help the world. I, for one, appreciate his efforts. My boyfriend and I both bought bikes for $200 each (tax included). They are rad vintage bikes. My only problem is that living in New West I have a lot of trouble climbing hills on a 3 speed bike, but that's my own fault.  You can take the bikes for a test ride. There is a side street just above the store that works great.
