This is totally a hidden gem in Edmonton.

Great music if you like EBM, Industrial, etc. Fridays BitchBitchBitch includes dark rave, and Saturdays Suck with more EBM.

I haven't been for a long time, but when I used to go, it was always fun.

Dress however you want. Black is a safe bet, if you don't know what to wear. But you will see some amazing costumes here. Put it this way - every Friday/Saturday is like Halloween. And when it is Halloween, costumes are OVER THE TOP.

It is a cozy club with a fun dance floor and nonjudgmental crowd. Anything goes here except bitchy pretentious attitudes.

You can go here to dance and have fun and not care about anything. And see the latest in goth, punk, and emo style. Listen to your favorite goth music tunes. And when Panzermensch comes on around 1am, you know that it is a good night and the party is just starting.

DISCLAIMER - I haven't been here for over a year, so maybe it has changed. I sure hope not, though, because it was great knowing that there will always be New City.

The music and the crowd may seem a little intimidating to some, but hard as it may be to believe, New City is easily the most welcoming club in the entire city. On its regular Saturday industrial nights, people clad in gas masks, eye patches, and fetishwear dance side by side with regular joes seeking something a little different. No one judges, no one cares, it's an open and free-spirited good time. And with so many regulars, the staff and the customers have a great rapport.
New City often hosts events downstairs, and on occasion flies in bands for special one-off shows, most often punk and industrial groups; check their website for what's coming up. It may surprise you.

New City is a strange and wonderful place. You will see and hear things at this night club that you will not hear anywhere else.

This club is frequented by punk rockers, cross dressers and costumed adults. It is a really cool experience to go and dance here. You will see dance move you've never seen!

The bartenders are very entertaining too. When I went here, there was a bartender who worked here who opened all bottles with his inner elbow and flicked off the lid into a bucket. He was so fun to watch.

If you are going to head down to New City, dress up, or you will feel super out of place. I have gone to this club wearing all black, leather, fishnets and knee high boots. The men I have gone with have gotten in the mood too and allowed us to put eyeliner on them.

It is a really fun experience to go and dance here.

Rule # 1: Be open minded and you will have great time.

New City Suburbs is not for everyone. This is a place where it seems like everynight is halloween. No one here judges and no one here is judged. I have driven by many times and always wondered what the hell this place was. One day we went in and we definitely stood out for looking so plain.

The crowd is a bunch of people expressing themselves. You can find anything from fishnets to rubber suits to other crazy costumes. If you are looking for something really different in the city and and very different crowd than usual, check out New City.

Whenever I feel bored with Edmonton's club scene with all its generic dance music, I go to New City. This club is definitely not for everybody, mostly because of the crowd that may scare some people off. New City is a place where total free spirits hang out. Goths and girls dressed in Halloween costumes in July come here to be themselves, and to dance to fantastic music. No one ever judges anybody at New City. And even though frequent New City goers will definitely feel out of place at most Edmonton clubs, they feel right at home at New City. The crowd is always fun to watch, and it is easy to strike a conversation which is sure to be interesting with anybody. The music at New City is different - the DJ playes everything from metal (yes, people manage to dance to metal music here:) to dance remixes of classical rock such as Depeche Mode and Deep Purple. Once, we even danced to "Dancing Queen" by ABBA! Drink specials are great, bar men are cool and friendly, lavatories are a lot cleaner than in some other Edmonton clubs. There are also two billiard tables, and several tables and chairs to sit and relax if one cannot dance anymore. The club also has some cool visual effects going on such as flashing abstract images on a big screen TV, as well as laser lights and smoke.
Give New City a try! This place is a bit unusual but cool, and who does not like that from time to time?

If you're looking for entirely different club experience from the in-the-box nightclubs of Whyte Ave. New City is an adventure in every way. If you have an inkling to wear fishnets, a rubber suit or last year's Perverse Nurse Hallowe'en costume, you'll fit right it. You can be yourself here, and no one bats an eye, unless they think you're super cool. There is so much eye candy in this place, you can just come, sit and eat it up, or tap into the deepest layers of your own sweet self. The music changes based on the night, but it seems pretty dark and industrial, with some techno, rockabilly and alternative. There are lots of fetish nights and special events, and they throw rockin' Halloween and New Year's parties, but you need to get tickets early.
