The lower-income fast-food joint, Brandiz makes a lot of quick and painless take out foods without any of the regular fuss over say ambiance, or health codes. Behind several large display cases sits huge metal plates of pasta, perogies, and pies, all served in enormous portions for less than $5. There's also pizza and samosas, and many different pastries and chocolate bars all for less than $1.
With loitering drug addicts wondering what you're doing in their neighborhood, you can buy a huge meal and desert and still afford to give out some change to the empty eyed people with mental health disorders sitting nearby. Working on a "get what you expect" basis, the food is mediocre and kind of scary, but it all gets heated up in the microwave before it's served.
Basically, it's a cheap and efficient place for poor people to grab a snack in between bottle hunts and shopping cart odysseys. -

Let me try this one again... this place is awful! Once you get over the novelty factor of having a plethora of strange and eclectic foods offered for under $10 at 3AM, you realize that this stuff is hardly better than gas station food. Everything not pre made at the supermarket is an adventure in tastelessness, microwave stryofoam, and potential food poisoning. The prices constantly fluctuate depending on how the guy behind the counter feels that day, not the you should care. You have to be really drunk and in good spirits (and too lazy to cook a box of Kraft Dinner) to want this over... well just about anything (not counting 711 and gas station food). The food is either very old, poorly cooked, or under cooked, the chicken fried rice gave me the worst food poisoning! Not to mention that their baked potatoes manage to stain your lips with their weird "sauce"! grossed out yet? Then youre not going to find redemption in the novelty of having a bowl of cereal prepared for you at any time of the day.
In retrospect, the bums are mostly here to buy single cigarettes, or because they got kicked out of their shelters. I still think the man behind the counter is a gem, but I dont understand how he can shill this stuff in good conscience.Listed in: Dive Eats
