I'm a convert. I'm on my third pair of new balance hiking style shoes (great for all weather) and they have been comfortable, well built and a very good fit. I take a size 15 men's shoe generally and new balance is one of the few places to fully accommodate my size in a variety of offerings.
Over the years I've become accustomed to walking into a shoe store and saying "what, if any, shoes do you have in a 15?" often it was better to just call down to shoe shops beforehand and spare myself the time and travel as often the answer (at best) was "well we have this one pair of basketball shoes". New balance always has at least 3 pairs of size 15 in the actual styles I'm interested in (and probably many many more in styles that I'm not after).
The staff at new balance knows their shoes and as soon as they're available (it can get pretty busy), they are thoroughly helpful and make intelligent recommendations. I've become a loyal customer and see no reason to change. I've worn my pairs for over a year each virtually every single day in all kinds of conditions and they're holding up just fine. Their shoes are not cheap but... well their shoes just aren't cheap, they're good shoes. I've been lucky and caught them on a sale weekend the last two times and I've been nothing but happy with my purchases. -

I not only love New Balance shoes, but the store is great too. I have bought every pair of runners from here for at least the last five years. What's great is the people selling you the shoes really know the products. They ask you, the customer, questions and try to match you with the most appropriate shoe for you. And as for sizing, New Balance has a shoe for every size and width, and the staff know just how they should fit. I don't think today's pair will make me enjoy running, but it won't make me loathe it because of my footwear.
