Review from Harrison M.

I'm a regular patron of this restaurant and decided to write a brief review for this place.
New Asia Deli primarily serves Vietnamese food and offers sandwiches, noodles and rice. Although they have a more limited menu as compared with other Vietnamese Pho restaurants in the area, their soup base is great.
Do not expect too much from servicing as it is a typical asian restaurant with asian waitresses. The waitresses at this restaurant are very professional as most of them memorizes the order and are very accurate in bringing out the correct order.
I would definitely recommend their Vietnamese sub sandwiches regardless of dinner or lunch. Best to add one to a bowl of noodle and share it as a group!!!! -

* Just like PF Changs *
Ok, this place confuses me. It calls itself a "Super Vietnamese Baguette & Asian Pacific Cuisine" restaurant.
Looking at the menu, there are a variety of bánh mì available (dac biet, meat ball, shredded porkskin, chicken, vegetarian), various Vietnamese dishes like salad rolls, lemon grass chicken/pork chops, pho, curry beef brisket with french bread, etc.
So pretty much all around Vietnamese offerings at a typical Vietnamese restaurant, right? You would think so, until you look a bit more closely.......
The drink menu appears to be a typical Hong Kong cafe drink menu with things like lemon tea, ovaltine milk, horlick milk, HK style milk tea, etc. Hm.....Random......
Didn't see anyone that looked Vietnamese anyplace. Oh, and everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) in the restaurant was speaking Cantonese - including all of the waitstaff and kitchen. Ok, that seals it - not a Vietnamese restaurant!
So I guess it is a HK Vietnamese style deli restaurant?
Guess some good folks from HK learned the recipes and then decided to bring them to Canada?
I had the dac biet bánh mì which was smaller than the bánh mì at many other places in Vancouver. They also toasted the bread (boo!) to the point where the pate was liquefying from the heat of the bread. The pickled veggies were good, but started to warm up from the bread as well. The Vietnamese ham was fine. The cilantro was french, but starting to wilt from the hot bread (getting the theme here)?
I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to return when there are so many other places that do a better job. But it wasn't terrible.
I suppose you could say what this place does by HK style Vietnamese food is kind of like PF Changs serving US style Chinese food?
That's it! This is the PF Changs of HK Vietnamese food in a hole-in-the-wall setting! -
Review from David L.
A wonderful place for Bánh mì Vietnamese sandwiches in Richmond. The Vietnamese ham used in the sandwiches really add interesting texture and taste, and it totally beats any cold cuts you'll find elsewhere. My sandwich had three different ham - all tasted fresh! The bun was lightly buttered with some sort of herb sauce which really added an extra punch of flavour without being too salty. My sandwich had carrots, daikon radish, cucumbers and cilantro. It tasted so good!
